  1. I’ve had a mk2 since 2005 now with 170000 miles on the clock, good car. I also have a mk3 2019. Different car more refined better in many ways but more electronics just seems better put together and more refined. Mk3 for me
  2. Doubtful that these will fit due to seat post height with back wheel still in place. I put my road bike flat on the floor with wheels still in place. I have a large sheet of 25mm thick rubber which will cover the boot area, then a second bike can go on top of the other. It works but I don’t do it often. I use a tow ball rack for MTB or road bike if I need the boot.
  3. Talk to an Auto Electrician and discuss the options. I have a Smart Fortwo with a bike rack and the electrics are fed from inside the boot, it’s the official kit and connects with a small connector approx 15mm dia the cable then just sits through the boot gap through the rubber out to the bike rack. as said before you need someone who understands the canbus system so that it still functions. 4. Skoda dealers charge £39 for MOT can’t see £200 value for that. if you wait until Black Friday time you may find that there’s a discounted rate 30% off maybe. I’m paying £12 per month for 3 years service plus mot. only covers routine service not the air con services
  5. Googled the part number and this post came up. Sorted cable release also stopped working it had come out of the housing, fixed. odd thing is that when I looked at the other seat to see how the cable worked it did not have a cover so I didn’t put 2 and 2 together.
  6. Well know up North that you don’t buy used cars from Keighley. most forums have some tales regarding this seller. im 25 miles away and I think I would travel to Plymouth rather than risk from them. very intimidating atmosphere at the garage so I’m told. they do have some exotics but I don’t know anyone who has bought from them. I think there’s a “wedding” hire business this car could be the exception but do you want the risk?
  7. I have Motorola with dual sim. i struggled with this as it would only pick up one SIM. Then I realised that using the handset you have to select which SIM to use and the car was not showing that stage. So in the end I allocated a SIM to each number and now it just calls using the chosen SIM automatically
  8. No nothing in the manual in my mkii its in the boot and service book
  9. I’m in the same boat. no sticker in the boot no service book 2019 model April I wanted to check the options fitted but not possible
  10. It’s In two parts a rigid piece that fits the hole and a bendy piece with Velcro on the bottom to stick to the boot carpet
  11. That’s what slots in there when there not in use
  12. You should have some of these the fit in the space and stop things sliding around in the boot http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-practical-cargo-flexible-element-original-Skoda-Autoas
  13. After a long time and many dead ends mine was wheel bearings and suspension The main dealer sorted it.
  14. The mkiii bars have two locating pins and they fix on by pulling a lever down Then the plastic caps fasten over the mechanism. on the foot there’s a plastic washer that fits over the pins stopping the clamp from bottoming against the body work, the foot locates on the high point of the roof. these details are not on the Mkii rack which has to be fixed by torquing up Allen bolts on each foot with only one pin for location. IMHO the mkiii is better designed and I’ve always thought they were made by Thule anyway.
  15. Not sure if this works but with a obd dongle (£5 ebay) and Skoda lite app the journey information is recorded in the app
  16. Sorry 5.7 mm not 5.6 brain fade!
  17. Wow, I know this is the mk iii forum but my mk II has had one change of battery in 15 years. The spare key is still on the original battery! Ive only had my mk iii for 6 months and I was not expecting to be changing batteries soon. Luckily I always have 2032s in as they are more common than 2025. do you think a mix 1x2032 and 1x2025 giving 5.6 mm as opposed to 2x2032. 6.4 mm would be better. I’ll try to remember when the time comes.
  18. Thanks. I do very little town traffic and good motorway trips which may explain why it’s not going down I read that Adblue deteriorates if exposed to daylight so I’ll buy some when the time is right. any idea of the tank capacity? thanks for the link but as I said I hate technology being in charge, it’s an age thing 😄
  19. Hi, new to Adblue so no experience. bought car in February and the display said 5000 miles to go. now 6 months on and over 2000 miles it still says 5000 miles. So my question is how does this work. Does it go 5000, 4999, 4998 etc or 5000, then zero. Or something in between. I like to be prepared so I like to know how it works. So why has it not moved? i hate the car telling me when it needs services etc as I don’t trust it yet. Much prefer to be in charge. just need reassurance that it’s not broken but I do expect it to show some change. Just one more question what capacity is the Adblue tank. How much to fill up from empty do I buy litres 5 litre or 10 litre thanks
  20. Please forgive my ignorance. Is Torque another app?
  21. Hi, help please. 2019 2.0 tdi. I got one of the cheap VW dongles from eBay as I thought the Skoda lite app may be helpful. Soon realised it’s not much more than a gimmick and a way of Skoda to mine more information about you and the car. I’ve downloaded the VAG DPF app and it appears that it’s not communicating with it,, it could be me but I like an instruction book, it’s an age thing. if I need a new dongle then I should ensure that it will do everything. For example will it work with OBD eleven if I decide to go that way in the future. Any recommendations thanks
  22. I think that if you find yourself talking to the gendarmes then they will check everything. I just want a kit that will be worth having. I could just get any old kit for a £5 and point at it if required..........
  23. Hi, I have a 2019 model with LED lights. so I can’t touch the headlights or indicators at the front but the fog s are bulbs also without taking the lights apart are the brake lights and rear fog led or bulbs in fancy housings. I can see rear lights and reverse lights are bulbs. I travel to France a lot and your supposed to carry a bulb kit a bit of knowledge will make sure that I get the right kit. is there a list anywhere to check which bulbs go where? thanks
  24. Thanks for that. the garage was prepared to put it on a diagnostic to check but Covid came along, I can’t get back to the garage for awhile. It really goes when it comes in I’ll just get used to it
  25. Hi, my problems started about 5 years ago with the car dropping into safe mode on a long motorway run but no warning light. turn ignition off the start again cleared off we go. Since then it would go into safe mode with no warning light and more importantly no faults logged in obd. Replaced parts include throttle body and some sensors but the problem didn’t go away. Late last year it started and showed warning of overboost so eventually changed turbo. Not had a problem since then. it was so bad that I’d be turning the ignition off and back on whilst free wheeling on the motorway. engine is 2.0 140 tdi 2005 sorry not sure of the code.
