2015 yr 1.4 Petrol AWD Actual average mpg over last17,000 miles 43.1mpg, maxidot average 46.4, so an average error of 7% which was about the same error as the Octavia I had previously..

Water under car - is this sunroof drain water?
..I thought the front sun roof drains exited via channels in the door recesses?...or perhaps I have had a brain fade?..

..used to get this a lot in the later days of my Octavia, sometime OK, sometimes would not work, most threads seem to suggest dirty contacts?

Tough choice...
..tough choice. I have a 1.4 Yeti (150hp), and prior to that a 1.4 Octavia with the 122hp engine. Both (122hp and 150hp) engines are an absolute peach, performance similar to my previous (2ltr) diesels, good economy, (45 mpg actual), and very smooth and quiet! I also test drove a 1.2 DSG Yeti as I also want an auto for my next car, and that too was a really nice drive, certainly plenty enough performance for me. However I was also a little put off by the reported dsg problems particularly when most will now be 3+ years old and out of warranty. My personal choice (assuming both are in good condition with a service history) would be to go with the lower mileage option. Regarding auto or manual?...a bit more difficult to decide. If you are mainly town/city driving probably worth taking a punt on an auto?/but only you can really determine your risk levels. Consider that VAG must have sold millions of dsg's and you will only hear about the bad ones...?

Thinking of changing from Diesel to Petrol
Before getting our current Yeti (petrol), I had Octavias. Originally 2.0ltr diesel, but then changed to the 1.4 petrol due to lower miles. Going back to a petrol engine after years of diesels was a real revelation. In real world driving there was hardly any difference between the 2.0 ltr diesel and the 1.4 turbo petrol other than I kept thinking the engine had stopped as it was soooo quiet compared to the diesel. The petrol was almost as tractable as the diesel and was quite happy to tootle around at similar low revs. (OK the diesel was marginally better going up steep hills fully loaded). Also managed to get very similar mpg out of the petrol, (44+mpg). Last year I considered changing from my current 1.4 Yeti AWD to a 1.2 as I no longer really need an awd 1.4 and I wanted an auto, so I took a 1.2 dsg for a spin. Loved the auto box and well impressed by the performance of the 1.2 petrol engine so I would also recommend changing from the 2.0ltr diesel if you are not doing the miles and still want to keep the practicality of a Yeti...

Replacing Yeti
..yes didn't notice the sizes. I am after something similar or a bit smaller, and must be an auto. Struggling to find something suitable at the mo. Had a test drive in an Arona 1.0ltr. Nice drive but not too keen on a DSG type gearbox ref reliability. Have also considered a 2wd Vitara as they still use a more conventional autbox but still seem to offer reasonable economy, but they don't feel as "solid" as the Yeti!

..yes we are with Admiral multi car, and around £450 for 2 cars, Yeti and MX5...but I am sure the Yeti is only around the £200 mark?..full NCB, (protected)
