  1. had you done any checks on the glow plugs yourself before you took it in e.g. resistance readings? I'm guessing they changed all the plugs - (good practice)
  2. not sure which is No.2 cylinder but ... why do you ask as they are all reading the same?
  3. Hi, I've already posted on this subject back in April but can't seem to find it. It won't clear using the software and cable .. in warm weather it appears to clear or when the engine is warm but it comes back again when cold. I've measured each glow plug and they are all 0.6ohms which, I think, are ok. Q1- am I right to assume the plugs are good from this measurement? Q2- where else should I look for the fault if it isn't the plug(s). Thanks
  4. yes, MIne does this .. its a 2017 reg. It can be sat on the drive, cool, not having been driven for 3/4 hours then up pops the radiator cooling fan on for no apparent reason. During a recent breakdown (unrelaated to this) the knowledgable driver driving the tow truck said that it was a known faulty relay. No idea where it may be or what but it sounds to me like it could be a faulty temperature sensor OR a fault with the control software. Good luck.
  5. I've done a bit of exploring of the engine and I thinki I've found the glow plug leads. Could someone please have a quick look at this video just to confirm that what I'm looking at are indeed the glow plugs? Also, why does one of the leads (second one in from the right) look different (wider), to the others? - and you can see 3 wires going to it??? I've tried coaxing the leads off off the plug but they are really firmly attached. If I'm to change these plugs I'm going to have to use some plyers or dismantle some parts to get a decent grip. Thanks Original.mp4
  6. I bought a cable and software and the fault was .. exactly.. Stored DTC(S) P0684 - Glow Plug Control Module to PCM Commmunication Circuit Range/Performance I found a great webiste here ... https://www.obd-codes.com/p0684 which pretty much covered everything ... apart from where all the respective componants live?? Anyway ... I reset the code but it has since returned. It's got a its service due in a few months and so I'd really like to sort this myself before then. Could someone help with the locations of the GPCM, PCM and the solenoid. Also, If the fault was with a glow plug wouldn't I get additional codes indicating which one(s) had failed? Thanks
  7. I'm sorry I don't know the ansqwer but, If you have a multimeter you might get the answer by checking the resistance of the glowplugs and see which one differs from the rest? Good luck
  8. Thanks for the info. There are numerous bits online about checking the glowplugs. Mine appear to have 3 wires to them? also the connectors are very tight ... I'm not too happy about renching them off in case I damage anything. So, I'm still trying to find the whereabouts of the componants? Thanks
  9. The other week I got the enginer management light come on. (mentioned earlierin another post but just a dead end really) So, I bought a cable and software and the fault was .. exactly.. Stored DTC(S) P0684 - Glow Plug Control Module to PCM Commmunication Circuit Range/Performance I found a great webiste here ... https://www.obd-codes.com/p0684 which pretty much covered everything ... apart from where all the respective componants live?? Anyway ... I reset the code but seeing as the ambient temperature is great today I'm not really surprised the fault hasn't returned. It's got a its service due in a few months and so I'd really like to sort this myself before then. Could someone help with the locations of the GPCM, PCM and the solenoid. If the fault was with a glow plug wouldn't I get some other code indicating which one had failed? Thanks
  10. so, did you check it out? I went to that site and it was for US or Canadians only? I've got the same issue ... The other week I got the enginer management light come on. bought a cable and software and the fault was .. exactly.. 11. It looks like you have been more advanced than I have on this fault .... The other week I got the enginer management light come on. bought a cable and software and the fault was .. exactly.. Stored DTC(S) P0684 - Glow Plug Control Module to PCM Commmunication Circuit Range Performance I found a great webiste here ... https://www.obd-codes.com/p0684 which pretty much covered everything ... apart from where all the respective componants live?? Thanks Also, you say and ECU fault ... are they not an expensive item to have to replace? If it is an ECU fault ... would it not appear even in warm weather? THanks
  12. 5 secs from covber open to cover closed. Job Done
  13. Thanks ... its a 67 plate registered Nov 2017 but it went out of warranty nov. 2019 which is annoying. It does say my key fob battery needs changing but that can't be the fault. its been saying that for a while now. After I had had it for just a year I had the same light come on, went to a dealership and they wanted to book me in ... with days to wait even though it was under warranty. I pressed the breakdown button, got them out to c heck it and it was faulty valve in the exhaust system ... (not the EGR valve). They changed it under warranty. Surely it can't be that again???
  14. After the car being sat on the drive for ages I've made a few 80 mile trips on the odd day in the week (total of 5 days in last 5 weeks) Yesterday I get in the car and the engine management warning light does not go out after starting. Must say too the car appeared to take some starting too - (battery?) So, I think, solid amber light drive carefully. I've heard of soot buildup and think I may be able to burn off deposits? Ran it for about 3 miles and decided to call the AA. A tech gets back to me from the AA and advises just what I thouight. He says so long as it runs OK, the light stays solid amber, does not start blinking OR turn to red then see how it goes. He also said you will probably find it will go out when you start the car back up after that. The car seems to run fine - no juddering/loss of power - all seems fine. I run it down the M1 at 2,000rpm for 70 miles. reaches my destination - turns off the engine, back on .. its still on!! Finished my work (key worker btw) and makes my way back home. this time I run the car at 3,000rpm. got home, no change.. the lights still on. Since the garages are all shut due to covid-19 I can't take it in. will it need to be connected to a PC to clear this light? Its due a service in 2,400 miles. Will I be OK to still drive with it like this? If I disconnect the battery for a few minuites will this clear the code? 2017 1968 cc 115 g/km DIESEL Thanks, in anticipation Dave
  15. Looks just like mine only I went for a different wheel style
  16. with regards to the price - as a 'good will gesture' - they knocked off 50% on parts and 70% off labour for the pump. total cost came to £232.44. I complained to SkodaUK and blagged the next 2 services free so I'm sort of satisfied with that especially as I got a new timing belt fitted too. with regards to the fault .... they wrote on their report impeller seized?? which is contrary to what others, including you guys, have said? I wish I'd asked for the old pump back so I could inspect it for myself! it was such poor communications at the garage I ended up being in a hurry to get out of there!
  17. The former. With regards to the pump upgrade both Skoda UK and the garage have stated that there is no upgrade. 🤔
  18. Could I just ask that everyone tell Watchdog about their experience please. Tweet them here: @BBCWatchdog thanks.
  19. Thanks. Tbh it's not really the money but the principle of the whole thing. There is obviously an issue with the water pump. I'd hate to go through this every 60000miles. 😱. I've made a formal complaint to Skoda customer services and I'm awaiting a return call.
  20. Did I say 2067 😱. Must be the alcohol. 🤣🤣🤣. It's a 67 plate (2017) - Soz.
  21. Mines just failed on a 2067 plate our of warranty by 7k miles 😱. Been offed 50% pump parts and 70% off labour but this is only after they have charged me for a timing belt change at over 500 quid😱. It's not the money but the principle of having a known fault go wrong. They just ride their luck hoping it will fail outside the warranty #FeelDuped
  22. I get exactly the same as Wiggi .. picked my new Superb up on Sunday and I'm sure the salesman saw the error but he just glossed over it. I was a little overcome with all the technology and getting to grips with the ins and outs that I only realised the error later. I've arranged to go back on Saturday on another matter and will be getting them to have a look then. I'd better give them a heads up before hand though. I'll let you know how I get on.
  23. JJ scores for SWFC v LEEDS wooop wooop

  24. Final score Gonna be 2-1 to US - 20 secs left :-D
