  1. I've been ringing around for quotes Skoda Aldershot - £399 for service plus £289(current offer) for cam belt not including water pump, that's £100 extra if it needs doing Skoda Reading - £264 for service plus £532 for cam belt including water pump Independent - £250 for service, waiting on price for cam belt. That's for an inspection service plus all filters (oil, air, pollen, fuel) and spark plugs. According to my service handbook I've decided to do the service myself using oem parts, will get either Skoda or an Indy to do the cam belt dependant on quotes.
  2. Are you saying a garage may be poor based on poor grammar on their websites? Seems a rather dumb conclusion
  3. Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to ring around a few garages to quotes but will probably end up going independent. I've used MDM before, very good so may go that route again. Did a search and these guys also get good reviews VAS Motion AH Autos
  4. I've had my VRS for just over 10 months so it'll be due a service soon. It's on a 57 plate (4.5 years old) with 54k miles so I'm debating whether to go main dealer or independent? I don't like my local main dealer (Aldershot), they're unhelpful and something about their attitude makes me not trust them. Looking for recommendations for an independent ~30 miles from Farnborough, Hampshire.
  5. 1985 Vauxhall Cavalier - awesome first car, great for camping/climbing trips 1986 VW Scirocco GTX - first quick(ish) car, the most uncomfortable front seats of any car I've driven 1992 Nissan 200sx - loved that car, especially the pop up headlights 1994 Rover 220gsi - real piece of crap, head gasket went within a month, clutch exploded three months later 1995 Nissan 200sx - tuned to 290bhp, sold it to get onto the property ladder 1998 Nissan Primera GT - boring car but useful for lugging furniture 1991 Nissan Pulsar GTiR - mentally quick around corners, piston rings went then I lost my license 2002 Renault Clio 172 - brilliant hot hatch, poor build quality, written off by an idiot not looking where he was going 1994 Westfield SE - weekend and track day toy, engine currently in bits in the garage. CURRENT 2007 Octavia VRS - the best everyday car I've owned CURRENT
  6. Complete. Taking a break for a couple of days was a good idea, had another look at the wiring last night and it all made sense. Very fiddly getting one of the wires out of the fuse box, eventually managed it with two tiny screwdrivers.
  7. Thank you for the link. I managed to get that far, dropping the relay holder and fusebox out, just not sure which wires from the tow bar loom go where.
  8. Thought I'd post an update. The majority of installation is done, the online guide really is rather good. Octavia Installation Guide I've had virtually the whole of back end apart, fitting the bar and routed the wires up to the fusebox. This is where I'm stuck, I'm not bad at the wiring part but just cannot figure out which wires go where, it needs to be blatantly obvious for me to understand :wonder: This part of the guide, I cannot relate which wires from the harness go where, not even sure where the 6 pin multipin connector is? ------------------------------------- To make it a little plainer as the Instructions could be better. The terminal connectors are held in place by the red locking bar you can see in Fig 44 above. This needs to be slid to one side to unlock. Then the connectors will pull out. The circuit board is marked E F G H Terminal block E is numbered so wire E2 is on block E position 2 Wire G7 is on terminal block G position 7 Wire G8 is on terminal block G position 8 Remove the wires as instructed and insert in to the numbered 6 pin multi connector, in the correct positions. Fit E2 G7 G8 from the towing harness in to the now empty positions. Refit the connectors and relock. ------------------------------------- I may get Skoda to finish the last part for me or try bribe a mate to help out.
  9. My first post on this forum - V exciting. I just ordered a detachable tow bar complete with electric kit and 13-7 pin adapter from Skoda, £372 all in. I will be fitting it myself, Skoda wanted £900 to supply and fit.
