  1. Perhaps my wife who had a 50:50 in the same circumstance wasn't a "lucky b****r" or "100% her fault" (quote MarkyMarkD) after all. See original thread. Sorry but the sheer certainty that some people voice their opinions is amusing.
  2. That must be the tarmac rally version judging by the slicks!! :P
  3. I bought two (400ml) tins of diamonbrite upholstery protector off e-bay at
  4. Am i right in saying the tyres fitted as standard are 'W' rated? Have had faster cars with 'V'' rated so why is this, a new thing? Or am i getting mixed up? The Pirellis in the thread are they 'w' rated? As I heard you have fit the same rated tyres or can have insurance problems if you have a bump? sorry so many ???
  5. This very thing happened a couple of years ago to my wife, but she was the car in the left lane and decided she wanted to right Anyway, outcome was 50:50 as far as blame. I talked to insure and legal support and they both said my wife was in wrong lane (agreed) but the guy has to indicate and not cut across lane (which you do from right lane to left as you go straight on) without due care (in other words he has to be aware of other traffic). I often do the right lane straight on thing but drive very defensively, in other words position in front or back of car to your left. I notice wagons, artics, often do the left lane turn right trick My wife's lane dicipline is much improved since then. My sympathy to your car and you though. Very glad no one was hurt.
  6. I have read this thread with a smile because I reckon it isn't the badge but the way we often drive the VRS. It has great mid range grunt and we all know it. We all love to leave other cars 'for dead'. So who can say we don't 'encourage' the opportunity. I haven't had bad reactions so far, but 'showing the cars potential' is bound to attract attention. Ron
  7. Celica vvti in silver Now Fabia VRS in silver Black cars take sooo much keeping clean :thumbdwn:
  8. In my experience, I have just traded a 3yr old Celica in for the Fabia, Toyota are very very good at warranty and reliability. The engine will be the vvti like mine was, it needs oil changes every 10k with a service at 20k intervals. The vvti needs to rev so needs yearly/or 10k changes. But really it is down to how it was looked after. Ron
  9. The only way that the on-line car shops are worth using is if you have sold privately or have no car to get rid of. The part exchange deals they offer are laughable, if you find being ripped off funny that is. I was offered
  10. Some very informative and interesting comments. The idea of higher revs + low gears = less stress is a good point. It just shows that perhaps most of the "careful running-in" ideas, which involve running around the 2K to 3.5K and changing gears to keep revs low, are harmful???? Anyway I don't feel so guilty now Thanks guys (and any gals) Ron
  11. Was that real speed? Looked speeded up. Mind the Lambo driver was being kind or scared of bending it? Good vid though Ron
  12. It certainly does go well, there is always so much 'lift' it really is addictive. I was doing so well short-shifting at 3500ish and enjoyng myself. Oh well I reckon they build 'em tough
  13. Out today for a run with wife and had brain fade, not unusual but this time I redlined vrs!!!!!!!!! At 170 miles on the clock. Still thinking petrol and it happened so quick, my excuse anyway............ Feel guilty now
  14. Thank you for the offers of help. I am sorting out what some of you are talking about MSN, P2P  Ron
  15. Sorry, sorry, sorry. I know this topic has been beaten to death. But I just got my VRS today and it is proving difficult to keep the car to reasonable speeds, it just wants to go and go on a wave of torque, or is that just me? Anyway I have heard about Tiff, 5th Gear, showing the mini cooper how it is done and I really want to see it. But where is it? The Ntl links are dead. I don't rate Clarkson so am not too bothered about him. Please anyone know current links or if it is to be repeated soon? Thanks Ron
  16. Well I get my Fabia VRS tomorrow and say goodbye to my Celica gen 7. When I test drove the Fabia I was impressed by the torque and the handling was quite good in a comfortable sort of way. So I am looking forward to my new experience of diesel ownership, and reading what all you people are chatting on about. Ron
