NEW: software 1985
Got the update notification when I sat in the car when my wife was collecting me, she didn't notice, so I set the download in motion. Seemed to have paused after she turned the ignition off as it hadn't progressed when I came back. Download is motoring along now anyway when I came back and turned ignition back on.

Does On Board SIM Card Use 3G (The 3G Network is Being Shutdown Across Europe)?
Stumbled across this, I've an Irish Mk IV and when I check online to renew my Care Connect I don't get the message other people are getting about it ending, whatever carrier it uses in Ireland may not be switching off their 3G as soon as what's happening in the UK.

Cheers for that. I haven't noticed a similar button on the Octavia when on the Goodbye screen but then again I wouldn't have been looking for it there so I'll check next time I'm in it, if it's not there I'll dig around and see if I can force it like you outlined how it can be done in your Formentor.

Difference between heating the cabin remotely and when in car.
So more being curious than anything else. With the current cold spell I've found heating the car (PHEV) via the app great, cabin heats quickly and windows all defrosted before I sit in. One of the evenings I was in the car waiting for someone who was delayed and I started to get pretty cold so I turned on the heating from within the cabin (no engine running) using the in car controls but it wasn't really warming up that well. So I whipped out my phone and set it via the app and it immediately began heating, so does it use a completely separate heater when done this way that's not used if done so within the cabin?

Lost the ability to change what's displayed on the Virtual dash
That wasn't the issue though, it was that it was blanked and stopped working as normal.

Lost the ability to change what's displayed on the Virtual dash
Apologies @RADIOTWO, for the record your suggestion worked. I didn't even think of a reboot of the infotainment system. I went back to the car and it had a bit of a hissy fit telling me all my aids were unavailable before returning and once the reboot completed my virtual cockpit was back functioning correctly. There was a small over the air update yesterday which might be the suspect for triggering it.

Lost the ability to change what's displayed on the Virtual dash
So was changing one of the displays on the virtual dash yesterday so see the average consumption and then it just went blank. It's now stuck on settings and the radio displays, see first pic. (2021 car running on version 1941, pic attached with all details) If I hold the button on the steering wheel to try changing things it just goes blank, see the second pic. On the other dash displays it's the same thing, blank, and on the map one I get full screen maps. I thought it may sort itself out over night but it's still like this this morning. Anyone have any ideas or see this before? I've thought about restoring factory settings in the infotainment unit but does that only effect the head unit itself and not the virtual dash?

Where's Laura 🤷♂️
I actually got the male voice over the weekend and he's still there. It coincided with my infotainment unit prompting me to search for available FM stations and to store them as if it was the first time using it. I let it go through with it and for the first time the internet radio functionality worked and I have internet radio now so not complaining about that. Since then the station icons for the FM radios it had stored in the favourites list are all gone but it retained the internet station's icons so I don't know what that was about. I did get the unit updated to 1941 a couple of weeks ago so it might be all coincidental to that.

Update to Version 1969
Cheers, yeah, I was looking for a glimmer of hope, particularly since it's an older update and even in the update overview it said the update was available for download until 31st of December, 2023 which had me wondering will the bigger updates eventually roll out to what I currently have.

Update to Version 1969
So this morning I surprisingly got a message telling me there's an update available, it was OAA2 so only about 190Mb, and that had rolled out a long time ago anyway. I had read somewhere that the above hardware/software combination couldn't receive OTA so when I saw the update roll in I was thinking I may even be able to cancel the dealer appointment (who quite possibly wouldn't update anyway). When I went back to the car later I got the message saying the update was competed, but all the software versions remain as they were in the screenshot above from a few weeks ago. Should the update have moved things on even a little, or is it prep for another bigger update?

'New' MySkoda app, where's the area and speed notification functionality gone?
Ha, I understand where you're coming from. To be honest I never really used it but last night I was due to have something ready for someone when they arrived home and they never message before they leave so I thought the area notification would come in handy to tell me when they had left and were on their way. All the same though, it's pretty dumb to remove existing functionality (which is part of a subscription model once your initial free period expires) from the new app.

Estate bumper protector, black, silver or clear?
My MKIII in racing blue had black roof rails and black trims around the windows and I put a black protector on the bumper for loading/unloading and it fitted in well. My petrol blue MKIV has silver rails and trim so initially thought I'd get a silver one this time but now I'm not so sure if it'll look right. Has anyone photos of their cars with either?

Update to Version 1969
And when sync disappeared what was it replacing with, just the temperature? Like I said I usually get "Eco" on the passenger side but I don't if that's what I should be seeing after a period of non usage. In my MKIII I always saw the temps in synch which is what I expect to see now.

Update to Version 1969
What vids did you have, and how did you replicate the air con sync issue? I read a previous post outlining what theirs was but I'm still not sure. I always have mine on Sync but the passenger side usually shows Eco at some point and I don't know if that's the issue. I've a few videos of when the "Changing your vehicle settings" message appears and the system basically restarts itself, is that one of the issues? I also have one from when the battery and petrol level indicators flicker randomly. I have mine in for a 'diagnostic' in a few weeks ago and feel I'm going to have a battle against them to update the software so want to be well prepared my side.

Update to Version 1969
Yeah, it's an approved Skoda used car so I guess I'll be on to the dealers tomorrow.

Update to Version 1969
I'm around the same versions as yourself at the moment, is it worth pressing the dealer for an update, I haven't had the car long enough to have seen any issues yet.

Octavia iV, what options can be unlocked by ODB?
Cheers. Don't intend to change anything yet but moreso curiosity as to what's software locked, i.e. speed limit sign recognition, rather than what's limited by hardware.

Octavia iV, what options can be unlocked by ODB?
Stumbled across a vid on YouTube this week while looking for something else and it was a guy who bought an ODB dongle from Amazon and used credits to lock/unlock different features on his car. Can't find the video now, it was on someone else's account so not in my history but it was things like turning off auto rear wipers, lane assist, sound actuator. Anyway, do we know if there's a full list of what features we enable/disable via ODB?

what do you like and dislike about your Octavia?
Road noise doesn't bother me too much, maybe cause I use my time driving to listen to my music, loudly. Plus I've a 1.4TSi, I don't miss my old diesel engine. The one annoying thing is the creaky rear suspension on my estate. I'd have brought it to a mechanic before now to get it checked out had it not been passing its tests with no issues identified around the suspension/imbalances etc, plus I'm sure I've read about it before on this forum as it not being too unusual. Seems to quiet after things warm up anyway. Love the car though, was only thinking this week after I saw a crash about how ****ed off I'd be had I needed to source an identical replacement if that was me.
