  1. For a good while I thought there was a lose connection within the car itself somewhere, there was one particular bump what would always disconnect it, but then realised when moving the phone it would occasionally disconnect. The cable itself is a mid range one so works 99% of the time, but has excellent timing when I'm using google maps and about to hit a serious of directions within a city, and bam, blank screen. It got pretty bad last week, wouldn't connect most of the time but I spotted there was an Android Auto update which may have introduced a bug. There was another update over the weekend which seemed to have resolved that.
  2. Do you have driving mode on your car? I had what I thought was judder a while and was thinking it was a clutch issue but then realised I had it in Sport mode. I stuck it back into Normal and it felt, well, normal again. I had just been used to Normal and the throttle response compared to Sport.
  3. Thanks for the guide Weyland, it was invaluable. I still found it a mighty pain the ass though, the bits I thought would be the hardest were the easiest, and vice versa. I did it on an estate, the boot trim came off very easy, and the advice to concentrate on one side of the existing switch when removing it was great, it popped out quickly enough. I didn't have to remove the upper boot trim to tread the cable, I used a cable rod set to filter down a wire that took a while to fish out, but once done it was easy to pull the cable up to the rubber sleeve, and I got it through that handily enough once I had it oiled up a bit. But the next bit was a head scratcher Unlike the saloon, the rubber sleeve doesn't travel into the car towards the headliner. It goes in the direction of the rear pillar, where the factory trunking goes, and down into the body. I couldn't work out what to do here so I slid my hand under the roof liner and felt for any holes in the direction of the pillar before eventually finding one. There's a little rubber grommet below the sleeve which if you remove you can feel around for the hole in the other direction and work to get the cable from the sleeve and double back out towards the lining. Once in the cabin it was much easier to feed the cable, I went along the floor and the rod was invaluable in getting it between the front and rear door. Before I had started the routing I had obviously checked it was working, and for a long time was convinced it was a dud, or I broke something. Connecting the 2 harnesses together is much much tougher than I had ever expected. It probably took over a half hour to get them to connect them properly, you really have to work hard to get the fit to complete. I do like the fact the onscreen car with the amber/red proximity graphics matches what you have, i.e. it appears as an estate. I do get a momentarily glimpse of the standard park pilot screen when I take it out of reverse but I can live with that. Oh, and the 2 headunit removal tools did get stuck, just as well I had seen the video on the other thread for how to remove them when stuck.
  4. It's due for a service soon so I'll just ask them to clarify and it'll be on the service notes too at least if it turns out they're wrong.
  5. Being actually able to see the bag or having Mit Silika on the tank, is that the definitive way to know if you have/had the bag? I've a 2017 1.4Tsi, pre facelift, and my tank is 5Q0121407 F, it doesn't have Mit Silika on the tank, just G13, am I safe to assume I'm not at risk of anything a burst bag can bring?
  6. Which camera did you have, the MQB one? I do recall someone saying that when they moved it, their setup didn't return to how it was before when using the reverse sensors, is yours ok?
  7. I think it'll only show your speed when navigating, not when just in the app. From what I can remember that's how it works with me anyway.
  8. I had previously used a Huawei made Honor phone with Android Auto and it was frankly a pain in the ass, very glitchy and I wasn't always certain that it would work correctly. And on the occasion when it did, it would be incredibly laggy and would often get blank screens. Changing phones resolved most issues I had almost immediately (I'd still get random disconnects with the replacement phone, but that seems to be resolved by a firmware update).
  9. Just a FYI for anyone in the same boat wondering about the length of time. I went from P0359T to P0367T on a 5Q0035874B and it probably only took about 5 minutes, so obviously not a huge change between the two.
  10. I wouldn't get hung up on how far you're getting per tank compared to what you got in your diesel. The tank itself is quite small in comparison in the 1.4 TSi, it's something I noticed soon after I got my 1.4. I was thinking that I'm getting very little range on a fill, but then realised how little it was costing to fill anyway so I took a look at the specs to see the volume of the tank itself. I think it was 10/15 litres smaller than my previous diesel, plus with the petrol being a bit less economical, it initially seemed it was drinking petrol.
  11. Hi, hardware version H30, I think I'm quite behind with the firmware.
  12. (Apologies, meant to post this in the Amundsen thread, moved there now)
  13. There's a photo here of the airbag in the A pillar in a Yeti.. And in the YouTube video you can see where they are in the facelifted Octavia at 25 seconds. (1) The New ŠKODA OCTAVIA- SAFETY - YouTube In the graphic langers2k posted, are airbags at the rear seat side, labelled number 10 standard? I don't recall seeing anything indicating they may be there in mine, I guess they're optional.
  14. Safer solution would be along the floor? TBH I never even considered any potential safety issue.
  15. Cheers J.R. I've already ordered a cable threading kit to make things a bit easier, but is it easy enough to pop off and back on again the pillar trim, or can you get away without it?
  16. I should have asked here instead of in the thread for weyland's great guide, but on an estate is it easier to route along the roof liner or bottom trim?
  17. We've the same car here, was it Camera A you ordered, dynamic parking lines work and there was no coding required ? Edit: It says in the bloody OP that it supports the lines and no coding requirement. Is routing through the headliner or lower trim at the doors best?
