New Wheeler Dealers - life without Ed and Ant!
When, which channel? I'm not forking out for the Disco channel or subscribing to their catch up service so I'll probably have to wait until it's on DMAX or Quest. I seem to recall reading (I forget where now) that Ant had put down roots in the US of A but would be making occasional appearances on the new UK show.

The 'new' green numberplates.
Could be that place in Wales that was the subject of the TV series Vintage Voltage. There's one member of this forum that did his own EV conversion on a Favorit. More here https://www.drive2.com/l/5534036/ I've noticed here in Germany they kept the EU marker but the plates end in E to denote an electric vehicle. The oldtimers have an H suffix for 'Historisch'.

Offsetting BRISKODA's environmental impact, or planting trees for posts
Nice to hear you're getting through things, Col. A bloke once said to me 'I can deal with a single elephant far easier than lots of mice'. I took that to mean always keep on top of the little things rather than let them to build up to become many bigger problems. Sometimes it the small things.

Watching it myself. So much more enjoyable and informative without that kittens Brewer.

The Great Electric Leap Forward
I was reading yesterday the the Government will be giving £2 million for a study to fit trucks with pantographs such as seen on trains and trams. Knowing Government projects, the finished project will be over budget and way past it's due date. Might be worth a feasibility study into pantographs fitted to submarines given the recent climate https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/jul/27/uk-government-backs-scheme-for-motorway-cables-to-power-lorries

Grades of engine oil
Yeah totally agree there's some shysters who'll just wipe the filter rather than replace. Another one is just using an airline to clean the air filter before wiping the seal with a rag. Kwik-Fit amongst the worst IME. £10 once to change a failed brake light bulb for the MoT. I said stuff that. Walked a minute or so down the road and picked one up for £1.99

Grades of engine oil
OP has a 1.4TDi George so an internal oil filter. It's in front of the engine with a black cap you undo (32mm spanner IIRC) Might even be bigger, it's been a while. 36mm also rings a bell.

New people mover needed - tight budget - lots of space needed.
Volvo XC-90's are pretty bullet proof, safe and reliable but on your budget you'd be looking at a 53/54/55 plate with a few miles under its belt.

Immobiliser will not start engine after replacing key fob
You'll need to apply something like brake cleaner or acetone (nail varnish remover) to soften the glue before trying to remove the chip otherwise chances are you'll just shatter the glass.

Really - Self Driving Cars!
Cars with lane-keeping assistance could be allowed to drive autonomously on motorways at up to 37mph I can't see any issues with this AT ALL. Another BRILLIANT idea from our super-awesome, don't dare to criticise them, Government. How are the SMART* motorways going? https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry-news-government/rule-change-could-allow-self-driving-cars-uk-end-2021 https://inews.co.uk/news/technology/self-driving-cars-on-uk-roads-by-end-of-2021-gov-claims-for-second-time-975222?fbclid=IwAR31UibXj4gjpyHaaYE8jk6QTDJ5X2kHf1x4lFtJrI0bW_kHuevjwSKO4tU *Irony

Perhaps if the likes of Volkswagen AG and others hadn't cheated in the first place, they wouldn't have found themselves being sued

Looking for advice
Could also be an issue with the intercooler. I had this issue on track at Castle Combe. Can't recall if the glow plug light came on but after after cleaning out the intercooler and associated pipes the issue was resolved.

Skoda yeti alarm system.
Page 55 onwards in the attached PDF. You might get away with putting some black insulation tape over the sensor. Or you could pull the fuse overnight but leave it somewhere prominent so you don't forget to put it back in perhaps? Remembered the Swiss Roombox for the Roomster and wondered if there was a Yeti version. Found this while looking. https://www.simplecampervans.com/skoda/ I think this company has gone out of business, sadly. A-SUV_Yeti_OwnersManual.pdf

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
TBH I'm no longer sure what JR wants or needs. This all started after he mentioned he wanted to watch the Megham and Harry interview which is on ITV hub I think.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
Might be easier if the OP just buys an Android TV box and plugs it into the spare HDMI port on the telly. They usually come pre-loaded with YouTube. The iPlayer, All4, My5, All4 apps are all available in the Play store. To use the TV apps in France will require a VPN though (also available in the Play store)

Sounds like the one JR is using. I thought Compaq went the way of the dinosaur years ago. I'm not even sure if a 10+ year old Compaq would be compatible interface wise with Roku/ Firestick etc. I'd also ask what OS is running on that.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
I've got a Firestick 4K and I have no issues watching catchup from All4, iPlayer etc etc. I found the best VPN for this was Nord.

Save your breath - he doesn't want anything plugged in apparently.

Do you have the brand and model number? Samsung and some other Smart TVs that use Android OS allow you to install a VPN and other Apps such as iPlayer, All4, ITV Hub etc etc. If it's HDMI then there's various modules you can connect such as Amazon Firestick or TV Boxes.
