  1. Get 'em dealt with and you too could look like this
  2. It's a ball ache. For a remap from whatever the 1.4 puts out to 105 which is what the non vRS 1.9 TDi puts out, go for the same brakes as the 1.9. I'm not even sure they're larger discs tbh. My 1.9 was mapped to 154hp and I ran standard 105hp brakes even on track.
  3. It didn't pop above 12C here today but I'll be keeping an eye on things. Winter tyres ready in the shed to go on. -30C screenwash bought already in March at 50% off. All my winter gears was ready since the winters came off in March.
  4. I know you have some savings in the cellar but what's the current exchange rate between the $ against the Clooney?
  5. I agree. Which makes the whole idea of a UK plate even more of a nonsense. IMO it was dreamt up by a drunk or high insecure politician who thought 'I know what'll make us Global Britain, a UK marking'. It really is one of the latest in a long list of daft ideas such as bridges and spaceports across the UK.
  6. He added, which you omitted, 'just so it can be keyed in a car park if I fancy a quick trip to Calais'. Given that there's a lot of people, perhaps from countries who aren't happy with the UK for whatever reason, is a very real possibility. There's been lots of instances in the UK of foreign registered cars being keyed or worse. I know from experience. Yeah, it's daft to change it. IMO it's a pathetic attempt to bring NI into the UK fold/ cosy up to certain NI people as it's 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' which a simple GB plate omits. Mind you, it'd look a bit daft with a plate saying UKOGBANI so abbreviated to UK
  7. Why would you need a UK sticker on a French registered car? Carry on using your EU 'F' marked plate as normal.
  8. https://www.thelocal.fr/20210902/uk-changes-rules-fo/ I suppose some outlets use the terms 'law' and 'rule' interchangeably. A fine is a punishment is it not? 'Could be' means 'possibly' IMO but I doubt entry would be refused by all but the most finickity.
  9. Diesel isn't it with a black band joining the hose and the nozzle rather than green?
  10. Would it help if people stood on their doorsteps on Thursdays at 8pm and clapped for petrol?

Is it too late to upgrade from 7 or 8 to get 10 and then 11 or best to just wait for a newer PC? https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/windows-10-download/

I doubt it myself. 1. Microsoft will maintain LTS for 10 so no urgency. 2. People won't want to swap to an unfamiliar OS esp Linux despite it being a decent OS 3. Lots of people are Church of Gates or Church of Jobs. 4. They'll continue on 10 with LTS until they need a new laptop/ PC. 5. Some may even switch to Chromebooks if Android users (see C of G/ C of J)

There's a list of Windows 11 compatible processors here There's a Microsoft app as well to do the legwork for you to see if your PC is compatible Mine isn't so I won't be getting it. I thought my processor wasn't too bad tbh
  16. I've no idea tbh but wouldn't it be illegal for a UK car to display a UK plate/ sticker rather than a GB one until it's been ratified and adopted as an official designation by whoever it is that does the ratifying and designating (UN is it?)

Yeah IKWYM. XP was pretty carp until SP1 was released. I'm considering setting myself a reminder to turn updates off from 3/4th of October and let other people experience the delights of a new OS first
  18. Windows 11 is scheduled for release on fifth of October. Has anyone already tried it as a Beta or in the Windows Insider program? Any thoughts if you have would be welcome. I did try 10 on the Insider program but didn't bother with 11. https://www.pcgamer.com/windows-11-release-date-features-specs-pricing/
  19. Doubly funny as Czechia is landlocked 😂
  20. As title. If you're waiting on a new order it may be of interest... https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/vws-skoda-stop-production-czech-plants-week-due-chip-shortage-2021-09-16/?fbclid=IwAR2Rm98U-TviKdEJ8ExsX4MuY-1-6deDHcl99skLSpBMoBYdq0VYe9nTb-M
  21. No VAT + no receipt = 0 warranty. "Yeah, that'll be alright, mate" does not equal a warranty.

  23. Thanks, Amanda. Looks like I'll be waiting a couple of months then. Yes, been watching a bit of the Alfalfa build. Pretty interesting watching a car built from scratch.
