Welcome back and nice to say hi again @mannyo Last time we met was either at JKM on a rolling road day or at one of the New Forest meets. I'm afraid my trusty MkI Fabia Elegance (154.5bhp by the way ) has long since gone. In between I've had a MkII Fabia which was sold when we moved to Germany, a Rapaid Spaceback (sold a month ago) and I'm now in a 2023 SEAT Ateca.

Looks like an engine cover's the least of your worries I assume you've tried eBay, Amazon and Skoda?

Ask your dealer for a copy of the options fitted to your car. He should supply a detailed list of them. You need to look for 'fitted with towing system' or something to that effect. If it does then you need to get the correct towbar orded and fitted. If your dealer can't or won't do it then poor show IMO. Towsure if they're still going should be more helpful.

Are your headlamps projector headlamps with an H7 halogen bulb in them or are they projectors with a Xenon gas discharge bulb (D2S bulb)? Do you have headlight washers fitted as standard at the factory? Edit never mind you said they're halogens. If they have the projector style fitting, they're crap. You might as well have a pair of old carriage lamps on your bumper. Going back to the thread title, it's looking increasingly unlikely with talk of 4,000 job cuts. I think I read that for each job lost in the manufacturing of a car, that could be three jobs in the supply chain so as many as 16,000 jobs at risk. Sad times for all at risk.
