Engine identification
CAVE engines had big problems with oil consumption so if yours has been replaced under warranty by Skoda then there should be a record of it somewhere. Failing that, you might find a mark on the engine block or if you post a pic up, then someone might be able to tell you just from looking.

Which Camper Van?
@Tech1e did a great thread on here when he converted a Renault/ Peugeot/ Citroen van into a camper. It's probably in the non Skoda projects section somewhere. IIRC he was selling it recently.

Ideas what to do, stick or switch
Couple of car shows I watched recently just reminded me of the FIAT Panda 4X4 that Ed China built; And Goblin Works Garage's Mercedes off road conversion for the fun factor although I doubt you have a self build in mind.

Ideas what to do, stick or switch
Not much experience in 4X4s but what I have noticed here in Germany is a lot of people use either a Lada Niva or a Suzuki Jimny as a 'Winterdienst' car; they whack a plough on the front and make a few bob clearing snow/ pulling idiots out of ditches. Capable and rugged yet basic tugs by the look of things. Mum had a Grand Vitara V6 and it absolutely drank fuel; filled it twice on the way from Bridport in Dorset to Largs near Glasgow.

Review of The Highway Code to improve road safety for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders
It's just a consultation at the moment so I don't think there's any need to get ahead of ourselves with regards to how will people know etc as historically consultations are often long and drawn out. The Highway Code also isn't a 'bible' in respect of each and every law and act of the highways hence the term 'code' although it does contain a lot of 'must' and 'must not' terms. In the modern digitised world it would be fairly easy for a campaign to reach the majority of road users I would have thought. Also, never forget, 'Ignorantia juris non excusat'.

Here we go again......
Testament to the longevity of some VAG parts and having an owner who doesn't ditch a perfectly serviceable alternator for the sake of a £1 load sensor wire

No, not staged, that's the current state of my workbench All I did was put the polisher on top for that photo. I've got three or four Powerfix socket sets in 1/2, 3/8 and 1/4", two sets of Powerfix ratchet spanners, Torque wrench, USB rechargeable work lamps (One Lidl one Aldi) a soldering iron, open/ ring spanner set X 2, open spanner set X 1, electric sharpener (there's more but I'm struggling to remember it all now! Oh, and about 9 or 10 boxes Lidl sell of assorted washers, nuts, zip ties and two of just crocodile clips. (They were for work and a great buy as great for connecting my BUTT phone to to test lines or to connect to tone out to find spair pairs/ faulting etc etc) Look, DON'T JUDGE ME. It all serves a purpose at least once Hi, my name's Lee and I have a problem....................

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
Thanks for posting this, @mac11irl. I'd started going to the gym after many years of leading a sedentary lifestyle. Even though I used to regularly climb poles for BT/ Openreach and do quite physical work (I worked smarter, not harder ) I'd become quite unfit. Last year I joined a gym and was just getting going and then BOOM! lockdown came and all that ended. I tried to motivate myself again but, ya know............ Following this for hints and maybe get some motivation back. @ColinD, is it possible to move this topic to Roadside? Or even better, create a new sub forum called Health & Lifestyle. Strictly on topic to cover health including MH and, as this is mainly a male forum, mens health? Not that this will disqualifiy female member from posting or creating topics, of course.

Facelift Details?
Don't make the mistake of thinking all rear bumpers are the same. Saloon and Estate bumpers will NOT fit a hatchback. Tail lights were different on FL but still fit PFL models.
