  1. I'd agree with this, I ran mine with Eibach lowered springs and standard shocks for a year or so and the ride was really crashy and unrefined. went with Bilstein dampers and the transformation is huge, ride feels so much more controlled and smoother, much more planted in high speed corners too. I fitted a whiteline RARB recently and that helped a lot but I'd buy the springs and dampers before the springs and RARB
  2. Try again http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/275138-fitting-audi-a6-seats-in-octavia/#entry3260312
  3. Some more info here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/288284-pain-in-the-leg/#entry3419520 and here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/275138-fitting-audi-a6-seats-in-octavia/#entry3260312
  4. I had real issues with my 2010 FL VRs seat and severe pain in my right thigh, despite trying every conceivable adjustment. I had the steel bars in the seat bolster removed which helped a bit but still wasn't great for me. Got to a point where I was going to change the car which was a shame as I love everything else about it. I ended up swapping the seats for some out of an Audi A6 http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/275138-fitting-audi-a6-seats-in-octavia/#entry3260312 and the difference in comfort has been brilliant for me. The new seats sit noticeably lower and allow my legs to sit straight, the old seats were higher forcing me to splay my legs to avoid the steering wheel and causing the right thigh to press into the seat, I'm 6'5" tall so this is obviously a factor too. I couldn't be happier with the new setup though, intend to keep the car for few more years so well worth the hassle of changing the seats. It's also possible to fit Recaro seats with a flatter base profile, this was another option I looked at, probably easier but not cheap, around £1700 for the front 2, probably still an option though compared with the cost of changing the car. Cheers Brian
  5. There's also this ad on here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/286286-breaking-mk2-octavia-20tdi-bkd-elegance-candy-white/#entry3396363 I bought some bits from him which were exactly as described
  6. I bought my A6 seats from motors in motion, a car breakers in Worksop, they had loads of octavia interiors and were happy to let you inspect, try sitting in etc. Might be worth a call to see what they've got now?
  7. I have some Audi A6 seats in mine, see this thread for details http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/275138-fitting-audi-a6-seats-in-octavia/#entry3260312
  8. Visited Jim today to buy a part for my car, just wanted to say thanks and confirm that the car he is breaking looks really clean and tidy Thanks Brian
  9. Installed one of these units in my 2010 Octavia to replace the Bolero unit. All good except for one minor niggle, I like the radio text option on the DAB and prefer this to the station list. Every time I turn on the unit it has defaulted back to the radio list and I have to choose the radio text option, is there a setting I need to change to make the unit default to radio text? Do I need VCDS to make this happen? Thanks Brian
  10. I've just replaced my stock dampers with Bilstein B8's, been running with Eibach pro sport springs for 18 months or so with the stock dampers. I had the alignment checked when the lowered springs were fitted, do I need it doing again now I'm running the Eibach/Bilstein combination? The ride height seems slightly higher with the new dampers but I guess this will settle? Appreciate your thoughts Cheers Brian
  11. Hardest setting for me too, only been on a week but feels right
  12. I had this problem on my FL 2010 Octavia, mine was sorted by a new rubber seal and adjustment to the door so it sealed better. All done under warranty and ok since, it's a known issue according to the dealer I went to. Cheers Brian
  13. I have a FL 2010 octavia, is this a straight swap? Do I need it coding? No maxidot in my car, does that make any difference?
  14. Seats now sold, anyone for the Bolero head unit?
  15. Seats Replaced my front seats in my Octavia VRS so looking to sell the originals. From a 2010 FL, the car has done 37000 miles so the seats have been used but are still in vgc. I had the seats re-padded by classic car services in Leicester to give a flatter profile as I found them a bit uncomfortable, I am 6'5" tall though so I have now replaced these with Audi A6 seats which suit my size better. The Octavia seats have had the wiring loom blocks cut off to fit to the Audi seats so these will need replacing if you want to connect the airbag, seatbelt warnings etc, should be straightforward enough, took 90 mins to change the Audi seats to suit the Octavia. I'd like £100 collected from Leicester for these, may be able to deliver locally or to the NW of England as I regularly travel there. Bolero head unit Removed from same car, in vgc with no scratches or marks. Will supply code and owners manual, £150 collected or can deliver locally/NW as above. I'm sure i can box this up safely and send at cost if required. Cheers Brian
  16. It could be me but I've never found adjustable lumbar support much benefit, the problem I had with the octavia seats were the lack of foam and the profile/shape, the A6 seats suit my shape much better and feel very supportive with more or better quality foam in the construction. I did try sitting in lots of different seats at dealers and at the breakers, these were the ones for me. Cheers Brian
  17. I'm looking to do the same myself and have arranged to buy an RCD510 DAB to swap for my Bolero in my 2010 Octavia. If I buy a dab aerial is it plug and play? Will my Bluetooth kit work? Any recoding required? Cheers Brian
  18. I'd suggest sitting in a few different seats, see what they feel like. A mate has an A4 and I liked those seats, the Recaros I was looking at were really good but expensive. I went to the breakers to see what they had and they were really helpful, let me try lots of different seats, the A8 fully electric seats were amazing but would have been a nightmare to install. I've done a couple of hours journey today and my new seats are great, the wife is impressed too, the A6 seats are much more comfortable but still give good levels of support when pushing on.
  19. I'm going to see classic car services in leicester with a view to stripping off the audi rear seats and using the leather to re trim my octavia rears, they're a good outfit, used them in the past. As for price, I was considering buying recaro cross speeds new, for the 2 fronts and fitting rails, wiring etc i was quoted £1800 so the A6 interior is a much cheaper option.
  20. I've never seen more than 33mpg out of mine in 38000 miles, typical average on a tank is 27 - 30 mpg. This is on a mix of roads with a fair bit of urban driving, I'd agree with pipsyp on what to expect.
  21. Thanks, I'm really pleased with them, if I can use the leather to get the rears retrimmed to match I'll do that next. To answer your other points The Audi seats are from a 2007 A6. They are manually adjustable - no powered adjustment - same as my Octavia seats were so an easy swap. They do have a heating element but I haven't connected it, there is another thread on this forum describing how this is possible though. I paid £550 for the front and rear seats without door cards, bought from motors in motion breakers in Worksop. Shark Performance fitted them for me - £108 inc VAT. If you have motorised seats at the moment and want to keep that feature with new seats I'm sure it's possible, I found both of the companies I used happy to help and advise. Shark in particular were great. Hope this helps? Cheers Brian
