  1. If like me, you've got another few weeks yet. After almost 5 months the car was finally built. It has since sat at the docks in Germany for 2 weeks, 1 week on the boat and has now been sat at Grimsby docks (1 hour away) for a week, as of this afternoon still no sign of it, I was supposed to be picking it up tomorrow/Saturday!! Who knows where the hell it is?!? My wife says it doesn't really exist and someone has just been taking the **** for the past 6 months. Hope you get yours soon!
  2. Looks great, same as mine, which has finally been built, been sat waiting to be put on a boat for over a week, but hopefully will be here soon!
  3. If you check out the dedicated detailing forums, I'm sure they'll all confirm that it's all in the preparation. When I first used clay I was a little worried, but I think it is a must to prep your car as much as possible, You'll be amazed what comes off even if you think the car is perfectly clean. When you apply sealent and or wax you're simply covering whatever is already on your paint. I've just invested in a machine polisher ready for my vRS delivery white with black roof, this will get a clay, polish, sealent and then wax on roof only, a lot of research suggests that wax on white paint looses some of the sharpness that is key on a white car. There are so many products out there, I'm sure with little difference in the results, so prep is king! Hope my 2p helps
  4. Thanks for the pictures, this is the first time I've seen one in the same colour as I'm getting, think I definately made a good choice. Just waiting now, due to be built begining of October
  5. Another week another story... from the end of last week with a build week of this week, it has now moved to a confirmed build of 1st week in October so should have it by end of October for my birthday!! Starting to feel a bit sorry for the dealer who to date have been good. How can you run a business when you have no idea when any of the products will get built and how you give someone a part ex value 6 months in advance???
  6. I think there's a general opinion do not use t-cut. Poorboys do a range of polish with various grades of abrasiveness to them, not used them yet personally, but on detailing world get a lot of use. It's a great forum to pick up tips and ask for advice for cleaning/detailing
  7. After another update of no build date yet, the dealer contacted Retailer support (presume that is Skoda UK) despite no update on the dealer system, the car is due to be built next week, so should be here in 4 weeks time. Not 100% convinced yet, but definately a step in the right direction
  8. Sorry, but think you're being fed a fishy line there. I ordered Fabia vRS 1st June, despite regular contact still no build date but told still expecting 1st Nov delivery by dealer & Skoda UK (not holding my breath). Also dealer said if I ordered now at least 6 month wait Only thig I can think is they've a customer cancelled order which they're still having built?
  9. Just had the dealer clarify, they are sticking to the 5 month wait. Have to wait and see I suppose!!
  10. I ordered my vRS with plenty of options on 5th June, was told by dealer & Skoda UK Customer services that it would be 5 months at the very latest. Got a confusing email from the dealer today saying expecting around January next year. Need to clarify, but 8 months is madness, I will have to reconider my order. A real shame because I don't know what else to go for
  11. Tried a few class cleaners in the, but I also found Autoglym fast glass the best. When window (outside) is completly clean try a coat of Rain X, it's the repellant stuff in a yellow bottle, effect is great and lasts quite a while. As far as cloths go, I use simple kitchen towel for the cleaning and then give a quick wipe over with a microfibre cloth just to get rid of any bits/dust from the kitchen towel. Also, just had my car professionally detailed and they also recommend Fast glass, if it's good enough for the experts.....!!
  12. Great pictures, can you confirm you've got the DRL's (looks like it from the picture) I've just picked up on a thread that says MY2012 cars have fog lights and the DRL's are an option, but not available as an option on the configurator?
  13. Each to their own, but I beleive that's the rubber is one of the most important parts of the car and you should always put on the best. As far as cost goes, what the difference between a set of conti's or cheapo tyres - maybe a tank of fuel? Better performance and more importantly best wet weather performance and stoping ability are always number one in my book!
  14. Good luck with the chrome wheels, I think they look great but past experiences have been bad. You must be very careful what you clean them with and keep salt of them in the winter.
  15. Or you can go the other way, being such a cheap car with really cheap options, I've gone all the way with most options except for sunroof and the storage boxes - can't think where else to get a brand new car with 4 doors, this fast or with this level of equipment for well under 16k. just wish they could make it faster, 1.5 months down hopefully only 3.5 to go!!
  16. I've just had my current car detailed by a professional company, who did an incredible job, far better than a dealer. When my vRS arrives it will be going to them for the Autoglym lifeshine for £200. Also, tried R222 wax for the first time. it's incredible, easy on easy off, discovered a good tip don't let it fully dry, do 1 panel at a time. it leaves the deepest, wettest look ever. only downside is it doesn't last quite as long as some other waxes, however it's that easy it's no hardship
  17. When I ordered, I was told 3-4 weeks to get a build date, I was last told they'd give me an update at week 6. However, I now don't expect a build week for some time, don't really care as long as i get a deilvery by November which will have been 5 months.
  18. My Fabia vRS order was ordered about 5 weeks ago, according to dealer it is still an order on the system. Not happy at this I emailed Skoda UK, got a very nice call back from John. This is normal, the delay is an issue at board level, the factory is working at max levels. It maybe some time before you get a build date, however he has confirm my dealer expected order to delivery of 5 months, possibly a little earlier. Really difficult, but I think it's a case of sit tight and wait
  19. Ordered My Fabia vRS 4 weeks ago, just spoke to the dealer, apparently it still doesn't have a build date and is still only an order on the system. So just emailed Skoda customer services to get an idea when I can expect a build date. Really hope I don't fall into the black hole that so many others seem to have done! Is it normal to wait ages for a build date?
  20. Don't really know about SAFEGUARD, but I've just had my Mazda 5 cleaned & detailed by cleandetail.com who have done a fantastic job, when/if my Fabia vRS is ever built I'm having them put the autoglym lifeshine on which has a 10 year guarentee and is designed to work with future polishes/wases if you wish. An example of how good they are is checkout the new Audi A1 on their portfolio, it shows the general level of finish by dealers, then how the car should look when they've finished. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=218715
  21. When I place my vRS order a few weeks ago I opted for the sat nav, but did not see that a DAB radio was an option. However I've just filcked through the sat nav Manual for cars since 05/2011 and it talks about selecting DAB stations on page 9. Am I correct in understanding that DAB is part of the Amundsen Sat Nav? Well happy if that's right!!
  22. I'm new to this forum, but having just placed an order for a Fabia vRS with most of the options ticked, I was concerned over the pages of problems people seem to have with 6/7 digit postcode searches. I asked my dealer to confirm that my car (expected November) will have 7 digit abilities. So far great service, got an email back with a copy of their Product news updates confirming that on all Fabia and Roomster models built from week 22 (30th May 2011): Amundsen satellite navigation: It will be possible to enter seven-digit postcodes into the Amundsen satellite navigation system. Map data will also be loaded on to the internal hard drives, rather than being issued on CDs. Only problem is a circa 5 month wait to get the car!!
