New Scala Niggles
Can’t give any view regarding andriod auto and Sat Nav as I use Apple Car Play, although I guess it will do the same thing. I haven’t had any issues regarding seat belt bings and bongs, we’ve had the dog in the back on his bed with no warning sounds. Maybe something in the menu needs turning off. I must say I am enjoying the Scala, but need a little more time to familiarise myself with all the safety and tech features.

Scala Monte Carlo with Gyeon Ceramic Paint Protection
Having picked up our new Scala Monte Carlo on Friday I wanted to protect the fabulous Velvet Red colour against the usual elements and sun fading. Dan, a Gyeon specialist from Dynamic Details Ltd in Basildon, Essex, did a fantastic job giving the car a mirrorlike finish. The paintwork has a full ceramic coating plus top coat, the wheels have been fully protected along with the brake callipers painted red and Gyeon coated. All the windows and panoramic roof have also been treated. He also PPF protected the top of the rear bumper which should help with wear and tear when getting things in and out of the boot. I can’t wash the car for 2 weeks, however on the way home the heavens opened and the hydrophobic properties were amazing, the rain just flew off the car leaving it almost dry by the time I put it away.

So Scala owners, what do you think to your car ?
So sorry to hear your plight and the considerable clean up and damage these dumb morons have caused. Having just picked up my new Scala on Friday I am mindful of the thieves and vandalism we are all having to endure these days. You might want to consider fitting security film to your side windows which would guard against some attack and prevent any glass shattering in the future, if you are unlucky enough to be targeted again. I have just purchased 2 Vonetti Bello Faraday Boxes to place my 2 keys in at night and when I am out and about. They are made of Aluminium and fit in a coat pocket or bag and won’t allow key cloning. I have also updated my existing Faraday Pouches and they don’t retain their defence to key cloning once they are a few years old, unlike the Vonetti metal boxes. In addition to the above, I have also ordered the latest Disklok Diamond version steering wheel cover and lock. It is meant to resist attack from disk cutting tools and will prevent thieves from driving the car away or stealing the Airbag. Hopefully you can get your car back to pristine condition soon and put this horrendous attack behind you.

Ditto. Picked ours up on Friday and absolutely love it. Looking forward to getting out and about and taking a few trips.

Has anyone used to Skoda Data Plans
That’s a good question. Still doing a crash course in what’s what in the car. Came across the very same deals in the Skoda app. Going to compare the cost with my EE. Really not sure how much my data usage will increase at this time. Certainly paying for one large 60GB lump up front and forgetting about it appeals to me.

New 24 Scala Ordered today
After a 3 hour nightmare journey on the M25/M11 we finally picked up our new Scala Monte Carlo this afternoon. The dealership at Harlow have been brilliant and really gone the extra mile to make sure our car was ready for handover in 2 days. The tech and multitude of menus is a bit mind boggling, so need to take the time to scroll through and figure out what is useful and what is not.

New 24 Scala Ordered today
Congratulations on picking up your new Scala. Coming from a 14 year old Superb I am going to have quite a bit of catching up to do with the technical stuff. Going to miss the Superb Combi, it's an outstanding car and built like a tank. Finally picking mine up Tomorrow afternoon, so I hope all the bings and bongs don’t drive me too crazy driving home.

Don’t forget to delete all your old cars data before trading in.
As many of us are expecting to take delivery of a new car soon, I am reminded how important it is to delete all your personal information data from your old car before trading in. It is frightening just how much of our personal data is now stored in the car and is accessible to third parties. .

New 24 Scala Ordered today
It certainly makes sense to take advantage of 5 days free insurance. I am hoping for a reduction in insurance as well. I went through my order yesterday with the dealer and signed the PCP paperwork. They also adjusted my deposit to allow for the £400 back against the deletion of the virtual pedal, did anyone else get this allowance? Hopefully the car turns up next week.

That’s great news. Could you not ask the dealer if they will deliver your car to your work place if near by.

I guess the car has a sim card which pings out your location. I’m pretty sure the data is available to other parties including your insurance company who can monitor your driving, speed and where you have been. Very 1984, our freedom is a thing of the past.

I am going to look at the skoda app and Insurance. Personally I am not a fan of sharing my data with all and sundry through the car. Not sure who has access to what these days.

Makes sense to do paperwork online if you have such a long journey to the dealer. They offered me sign online, but as I was going anyway I would do it at the same time. Hopefully they open a new dealer nearer you soon.

That’s great news. I am going in tomorrow to sort out PCP paperwork and drop off mud guards for fitting. Did they give you a choice of Reg? I have asked if I can see a list of available reg, might be something memorable.

About to pull the trigger on a Skoda Scala, but I've got 1 burning question...
Having ordered mine mid February and still waiting for delivery I can’t try my golf bag. However, I did take measurements at the dealers. Boot width as a mat would fit is 100cm x Depth 86cm. There is additional width forward of the wheel arch separated by 2 plastic dividers, which removed should allow another estimated 29cm minimum width, being the rear seat is 129cm wide. I would imagine you will find a solution, failing that there’s always a 1 Iron.

New 24 Scala Ordered today
Pulled this information for the Skoda Storyboard. looking forward to getting my car soon 1.5 TSI DSG. I know a few are being build this week and next, so shouldn’t be long before we can enjoy the newer more efficient engines. The top-of-the-range 1.5 TSI engine benefits from improvements brought about by the new catalytic converter, which boasts improved efficiency and reaches its operating temperature more quickly. Moreover, it comes with upgraded software for the ACT+ active cylinder deactivation system. This makes the automatic deactivation and re-activation of two of the four cylinders based on power demands even smoother. The range of conditions under which the system is active has been extended as well, thanks to adjustments made to the intake and exhaust valve lift curve for the active cylinders (first and fourth cylinder). Just like the 1.5 TSI, the two new 1.0 TSI three-cylinder engines in the Škoda Scala and Kamiq now come from the EA211 engine family’s evo2 generation. Advantages include variable control of the intake and exhaust valves, an injection pressure of up to 350 bar, the high‑compression Miller combustion cycle and variable-geometry turbochargers (VGT). New features are ten-hole injectors for an even more homogeneous air-fuel mixture, as well as a new three-way catalytic converter with particulate filter. As the temperature resistance of the turbocharger has at the same time been increased to 980 °C, the optimum air-fuel ignition ratio is now available over a wider range of engine speeds. At 85 kW (115 hp), the more powerful 1.0 TSI delivers 4 kW (6 hp) more than its predecessor and makes this available 500 rpm sooner, and across a wider rev range. The maximum torque of 200 Nm is also available for an additional 500 rpm at the upper end of the rev range.
