  1. Morning all Just thought I'd pop bye and say hello. My Names Dan 25 (today lol) from Kent. After seeing a Monte Carlo in a Skoda dealer i used work in about a year or so ago i decided i had to have one. Despite not carrying the preformace of a VRS, its looks appealed to me more, the contrasting red and black paint, alont with the black wheels defuser front splitter etc etc its just looked the part. And the all black headlights and grille just finished it off (i know the black pack is on the vrs now but it wasnt at the time) After a year of looking for one in my price range (helped more my a improved wage) I finally took the plunge to buy one from the local dealer. Its red with the 1.2 TSI 86bhp not my ideal choice (would of liked a 105) but im happy with the power and grunt it carries. Also the car ive brought has a few options that caught my eye. Firstly the climatic air con, i think this should be must to have purly because the controls look far more appealing then the standard heater controls. Next is cruise control, a option ive missed since selling my old Vectra Estate. And best of the Kenwood media system, now not something I'd of added, as i think the amunsden with MDI or even just the standard swing would of been suited my requirements, but whilest on the test drive it seem ok, didnt get a lot of chance to play with it, but looking forward to playing with it when I pick it up. Sadly the car came with no arm rest (guess il add that my self at some point. Altho i found maunals with arms rests werent all that comfy due to difference in height of the arm rest and gear lever. Also no Maxi Dot. Which i would of prefferd but niether the end of the world in my eyes. Any way enough of the babbling i pick it up saturday and look forward to it. il share a little feedback too.Mainly as alot of the feedback read on here aided my choice. Thanks Dan
  2. Hi all, I joined not long ago looking for info and researching various skoda's I finally took the plunge and opted for a 2nd hand Fabian monte Carlo. It's a corrida red one with some nice little extras eg cruise control, climatic air con, and the kenwood media system. I collect the car this saturday from my local dealer and can't wait
  3. well i work at a dealer and have been tip to that a really clean one may crop depending if our reps can convince him to order a new VRS
  4. sounds good, what done it for me was a customer with a 54plate one was in to have the ABS unit changed which parts alone was £600, the good news was it was it was covered by a warranty, but despite this quite expensive falure rather then question the car she could stop raving about it. to me that can only be a good sign
  5. Looks good altho personally from a styling point of view i would of left it to the roof and spoiler, the grile looks outta place and then if you done the bonnet also i thing it would be OTT
  6. ok maybe a little crazy coming to a skoda forum asking this but im hoping you all be up front and honest as all cars have floors we suffer as the pluss' makes us happy. Now after considering my options of new cars like clios fabias and even corsas im starting to feel the best blend of sport feel and good MPG may come from the 2nd hand market in a more mangeable cost. Now obviously the VRS Fabia came to mind for a few reason, first rembering seeing the test by Top Gear (againest a simlery priced at the time mini cooper) and think 5th gear did it too. what i want get down do is what floors does the fabia have. Firstly what appears to be one issue im guessing is that big heavy diesel engine in a FWD car must give it some underteer and guessing calls for shares in a tyre suppiler of your choice lol. and another thing i seem to gather is other then the seats and gear knob and a few bits of leather nothing on the inside seems to set it apart from is other models. other then looking at the figures and speaking to customers i deal with who drive VRS Fabia it seems very few have any complaints. sorry for going on but and info tips advice all welcome, as i hoping to start some serious searching shortly to buy either side of xmas, so wana know what im letting myself in for.
  7. im also looking for a Fabia VRS after considering a new monte carlo etc decided id rather get used VRS. All i will say from the figures is dont see its a little more power, as from a previous poster said you current fabia is 100hp where as the VRS is 130 just look the torque numbers, the VRS has 310Nm to the 1.4's 120Nm. plenty of pulling power. which suits my driving. looking forward to finding one.
  8. yh there such a big gap in the MPG figures it seems madness to go for the TSI, need to have a little look in to the cost of the service. it annoying as realisticly Ive come the conclusion its a Monte TDI or Corsa SXI 1.3 95 PS and it seems when you take in to account all the costs they almost cancel each other out. which is kinda helpful as it will help me make the choice as i prefer the Monte
  9. this was my thought but after a chat with the sales man we amened the millages and as i thought it adjusts the GFV (graunteed Final Value) id only suffer if under estimated. as term of stright Finace I havent got a decent deposit to do it that hence looking in to PCP thats a reilef i would of traded the car before cam belt. The only other car id go for is the Corsa SXI with a VXR pack and 17s and the fabia witha few selected extras still works out cheaper with better MPG but has a 20,000 mile interval
  10. that what we suspect, the thing is id lack service stamps. if me and brother done it,
  11. Hi fairly new here. But need some advice. I really like the look of the Monte Carlo, kind of love at first sight almost. if i wasd to mod a car so to speak the monte carlo would be the way id go (ie black headlight/grille etc) the dilemma for me is my millage. I reckon I could clock up a staggering 16,000 to 20,000 a year. thats estimated at a 60 miles a day commute for 6days a week which only happens one in three weeks) and the rest is socail at weekends. now this is forgetting my 4 weeks annual holiday which would reduce the millage, and i rarly do any trips out of the blue that are long distace. Now i may be banging on the milage but theres two reasons for that. 1. I was looking at a Soloutions Package which obviously charges should you go over the millage, now i dont want over or under estimate as i wana aviod losing out too much at the end of the term. 2. To my knowledge the Fabia is service either 10,000 miles of annaul, so if i did hit the 20,000 id be servicing it twice a year. and then the cam belt if applicable to the said car would be due end of year two. Now normally it wouldnt bother me as my bros a Merc Tech, but obviously with the posisblity of trading it back in at the end of the term and the warranty to think bout, Il need to get a dealer to get the work (extra cost) So what do you all recomend? would the Fabia suit my needs???? And would I benifit from paying extra for a TDI of lose a little consumption in favor of the TSI unit
  12. DPF are not really suitable for short journeys due to how they work. They are desigined to catch harmful particals, Every once in a while it requires a regeration. this is done while the car maintains a certain speed/RPM ie Motorway driving. I used to work in a Mercedes commercial dealer and when DPF were first introducted we had issues with couriers and the DPF purely due to start stop nature of the job
  13. as you dont think it would benifical, TBH i think the prices sit right atm, bearing in mind most of the skoda range takes its chassis engines and drive train from VW. What will hope skoda is people are finally starting to realise that skodas are as good as any VW just little cheaper. I thing mordern skoda are good value for money, but thats jus my opinion
  14. yeo a monte but they dont the have DRLs built in to the fog, just not LED also diff front bumper from the vrs rear spliter is different (exhaust is hidden on the monte) plus the wheels are a different style
  15. Hi all im new here, recently started working at a Skoda Dealership as a parts advisor, and had the joys of drving a few skodas and they starting to turn my head bit more then i thought, Normally a big Vauxhall fan ive had 2 vectras and loved them as well as a corsa, now the ocativas and fabias seem to be grabbing my attention, even more so now i get to drive a few. incuding the Octavia VRS a few fabias and roomsters and a yeti etc etc. At the moment im torn between a used Octavia VRS TDI, or a new Fabia Monte Carlo, depends what i get a good deal on i guess. any way thats enough bout im off for a little browse.
