  1. Well, from Geneva it's only a short hop on a light aircraft and then gondola ride to the glacier above Alpe Duez to see the effect all this virtual travel has on global warming.
  2. 1st and 3rd look out of focus to me I'm afraid. Composition could be tighter on the first one, I would suggest concentrating on your subject which you manage on the 2nd one to better effect.
  3. I'd ask them to take apart and put back together again all the parts they moved during the service...
  4. It's not actually a bad price for an engine block, is it? £499 for a v12 lump
  5. fuel mix or temp sensor would be my guess. Had similar in a golf and felicia before and it was temp sensor in each sending too much or little fuel. Fine from a cold start but neither would start if they'd been running
  6. It looks like a proper coupe rather than a folding tin top. Those I know with Mini's already seem to like the coupe, although without the stripes.
  7. It depends what your policy documents says. Sometimes you have to phone your insurer to get an authorisation code (something the autoglass adverts don't say!!) and then go with their approved repair centre and give the repair centre the code.
  8. I suppose you can look at it one way, when the chainset wears out on either of them you'll need to pay for a new one, so can upgrade at that time, so the cost over 2 services will be the same so I'd go for the Bianchi if thats what's more your style. When you are on the road any of the chainsets will be good enough for your use I'd think, since you aren't actually racing are you? just completing....
  9. Wouldn't happen these days. One of the girls I knew at Uni was walking home down a tree lined street which bisected a park, which had she been from glasgow she would have know she shouldn't have been, and the police car pulled over and told her that it was a prime location for people getting mugged and worse. Scared out of her wits they let her be on her way. I'd have thought a lift half a mile would have been in order, but no, kebab was calling. Not clever.
  10. very nicely done, although I'd be taking my 6'6 friendly policeman with me
  11. I'm rather hoping the VAT increase from 15% to 17.5% doesn't have any impact since they increased duty to avoid any reduction in the tax take on fuel when dropping VAT. I bet they sneak it through though Although I do note - theiving basdads Alcohol, Tobacco and Petrol/Diesel While the VAT reduction does apply to Alcohol, Tobacco and Petrol/Diesel, the government has been underhanded about these items. They have raised the duty on these items by 2.5% - effectively keeping the cost the same on these items as they are current. Additionally, when the VAT rate returns to normal at the end of 2009, the duty increase on these items will remain, essentially causing a 2.5% raise in the prices of these items. FFS - that is theft
  12. In my experience garage's point out things that will need attention before you see them for the next visit, which they usually put at 10k miles or a year, so the brakes would need doing within that time frame. It does depend on how they worded it though. I got a little report when my car was serviced with repair and timeframe required (or when to check it, eg weekly or monthly) without any pressure to use them, just asked me to book it in when I wanted the work doing, so I've managed to spread the cost over a few months.
  13. Yet being the operative word - accident waiting to happen:rotz:. It's amazing the number of muppets that drive to the limit of their cars round blind corners without thinking about "the tractor round the bend" or the "cattle on the road". Vanishing point / limit analysis is essential in making safe progress
  14. He came willingly, all I needed was a bit of food
  15. I've only got the 1.8 as well, which has produced some respectable snaps such as these ones which I quite like and a pet one, maximising the 1.8 aperture
  16. Warranty will say replace or repair, so can they not repair it?
  17. Colours in post 9 do look better but can't quite say why. I guess you are going to get plenty of use out of it.
  18. Thanks all for the comments - the cheetah's were excellent, especially as their location masked the enclosure fences so it could almost be in the wild. Will be getting a couple printed for the wall I think.
  19. Ouch, £3,300 over two years!
  20. To be honest half your budget is going to go on insurance. Try a group 1 or 2 car rather than a group 9 unless you really want to waste your money, until you are at least 21
  21. to be fair i didn't actually read the article, so given she's 11 we'll just call her a lucky girl
  22. My thoughts exactly, theres a middle pedal for a reason
