  1. I probably could have worded that better ^^^
  2. the control panel that looks like a mini tablet looks like it might be fun
  3. Which system did you go for?
  4. Hmm, I had a look at that and I was a little surprised. I had a look at the Argos site and for £12.50 they can give me an evening slot for delivery on a Samsung FF. As it happens I had a little over a £100 on my Nectar card so that was a nice unexpected discount! I think you can guess I've bought the Samsung, unfortunately it's black, so no doubt it will be covered in the usual dinks, just more visible in fingerprint black I don't mind as long as they are not on the doors or damaging the rear radiator.
  5. Bit of a thread revival. I'm looking at a new fridge freezer as my current one is not only a little too small but the compressor pump is starting to sound a bit 'tired'. It is 20+ years old, so it's not done too badly. I've looked at a Samsung and can fit this model in the alcove in my kitchen (I have a height restriction of 179 cm). Trouble is I need a timed delivery and only Currys can do this (the fridge is out of stock at local suppliers). I am trying to avoid Currys as they gave rotten service the last two times I tried to order anything from them. They screwed up a paid delivery on both orders and I ended up cancelling both items subsequently ....grrrr The other option I have is Liebherr fridge which fits even better and has all the features I require. The only thing is they are a bit pricey and I wonder if you get what you pay for in this instance. I have several Samsung bits of kit (phones, tvs, tablets, washing machine etc) and they have all been exemplary in service, but as I am struggling to find the Samsung fridge I want and also be able to set a delivery time, the Liebherr is a better option as it is physically a better fit, I can set a delivery time and it is allegedly a decent fridge. Anyone know if Leibherr are as good as they claim? Are they worth the extra outlay?
  6. I went imperial for a moment with 1/2 mile rather than 1/2 Km. Sign of my age.
  7. If you get a teeny weeny drone I recommend one of these stuck on to it https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07HN8XKHL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's super light and extraordinarily bright. When you fly your drone away from you it disappears from sight very very quickly and that is not allowed!! But stick the superbright flashing light on the drone and you can see it half a mile away. It's not such a problem when the drone is returning to you as it's easier to get a fix on it, or at least I find it easier to find in the sky.
  8. I drive people nuts professionally (please no misquotes ) but alas I don't do drones as a pro....I'd be skint if I did The sub 250g drones got a pass on the regs that caused everyone else to register their drones and pass a brief theory test, but the new rules has dragged some of the lightweight drones into more or less the same category as the bigger drones ie a DJI mini 2 might be considered similarly to a DJI Air etc. If I understand it right, it comes down to whether the sub 250g drone is a toy, like some of the Hubsans etc. But the DJI Mini 2 has a camera and can shoot pretty good quality video, so it might not be considered a toy, therefore you need to register it and put your flyer id on it. I spoke to a PSC cameraman about it only a couple of weeks ago and he was debating whether to get a sub 250g DJI as it was a pain flying bigger drones commercially, especially as it was something he rarely did anyway (you have to do flight plans etc and pass an extended 2 day course, where they will check your flight competence amongst other things). But as we chatted it came to light that the 250g DJI mini 2 was being treated as it's bigger brethren, so he scuppered that idea anyhoo. The test is pretty easy to pass and you get a 3 years 'Flyer ID' from it (or at least you did, don't what the current timescale is), you have to register for your Operator registration every year. EDIT: I found my link that the CAA sent me just before Christmas https://mailchi.mp/045f37696d1f/update-on-new-uk-drone-and-model-aircraft-rules-and-registration-renewals?e=72d9004bd4
  9. Apart from I want one even more than ever, I wonder if anyone knows what the extra black buttons on the dash consol do? The one he describes as a tyre on a pole, or something, looks like a clutch pedal switch of some sort ? Also, he talks about the power outlets on the outside (hydraulics not electrical surely), but they have numbered and coloured caps (some have obviously fallen off) that correspond to the buttons by the joystick, which makes me think the coloured buttons switch the hydraulics to the joystick controller and they are not electrical outputs as Doug thinks.
  10. I think it's time we resurrected the unofficial Unimog thread It's been Doug'd
  11. Although I think LH is a bit of a pillock, he seems to have a good measure of integrity to him and I've never heard anything terrible about him. I work with a couple of guys that have worked with him quite a bit on the F1 circuit and even though they both think he is a bit of a knob, he is a decent chap underneath, means well and is obviously a supremely talented chap.
  12. This video has been doing the rounds recently. Probably shows why the current M3/4 is the first M car to not have the press whinge about the brakes
  13. Well deserved honour I suspect he won't be one of those celebrities, that we find all sort of horrendous things about somewhere in the distant future and then have to watch endless investigative tv shows about, before he is finally stripped of his knighthood.
  14. I'd have thought the colour of the dog was just genentics and so he wouldn't have much choice
  15. I would love one of these, I could live without the S model. So pretty too
  16. I was asked to step back by an official and I felt something under my foot!!!!! (they are very low cars and it was a bit of a rugby scrum at the time )
  17. Heres a name drop....I was working on that race and actually stood on the grid just before the start I remember seeing the used tyres piled up behind the pits steaming in the rain. Wish I had a camera with me at the time. Amazing day and I got paid for being there, double win I nearly broke Alain Prosts nose cone (his cars), but that's another story
  18. Haha. Guy (or Gal) who owned the RS4 probably felt like the dogs doodahs driving around in it....until he came back to it and found his thunder stolen by it's grandad parking in the next bay Love the dog
  19. I traded my Vitara at almost 5 years old and it was worth around 50% of the price I paid for it new! I haggled a separate deal on the replacement car so it was a fair price for the Suzy and not overly inflated to get me a 'price to change' It was a diesel and was incredibly economical and very reliable. It's a solid little thing, even if the materials are a bit cheap to feel. It's 4x4 system really works well, although you might not want to go seriously green lane-ing in it due to ground clearance being only a little better than a regular hatch. I now have the Hyundai Kona. A bit more premium inside and with a smooth DCT 7 speed box and a decent 4x4 system (centre coupling lock) it's as much 4x4 as I will ever need. The standard spec is huge, but the downside to the car is, in petrol guise at least, the economy is really poor. I have the 177ps version, but even so, it's not great in the mpg stakes. It is rather heavy for a small car too and the extra 4x4 bits probably don't help. It is an incredibly easy car to life with though and would make a superb 'retirement' hatch.
  20. I sometimes use the Bose when I'm in a noisy hotel (when did people start to forget the good manners of being QUIET! when walking about in the corridors and turning the tvs DOWN! in their bedrooms?????) and just switch the cans on without connecting them to anything. The noise-cancelling lasts about 2 hours before auto shut down through lack of signal occurs. There is the usual low level hiss from the noise-cancelling circuitry, but that's pretty normal and unobtrusive.
  21. The Bose QCs are incredibly comfortable, imho I'd say of the dozens of different headphones I've worn over the years, they are the most comfy. Their noise-cancelling tech is excellent, but the sound quality is only decent. I've got my new Senny 450s and after a tweak on my phones audio test and correction software (it's basically plays various frequencies and levels to your cans and determines the deficiencies of your ears/cans/or the combination of both) I'd say the massively cheaper Senny's sound slightly better overall, even though the noise-cancelling can't hold a candle to the Bose. One thing of note though, is the passive noise-cancelling afforded by the ear cups and their rather firm grip they have on your head, offer excellent noise rejection just by wearing them.
  22. Actually it was a man and a woman packing it
  23. So I've just done a job and my colleague had all this in his Yeti (chair and waste bin not included) Total weight is probably somewhere around 300kg+ I was impressed
