Tbh the leads looked original, obviously unless the previous owner was a fool and bought from Renault but certainly didt look recent. Yeah code readers normally just tell you what you already know..multiple misfire, well i never, i thought it was the radio causing it... But anyways all the good the code reader is wouldt it of flagged up O2 sensor if it was faulty or are they known not to do this?

Yeah but now I know the two are not related I can get the misfire sorted first. The code reader told me multiple misfire, ordered all parts yesterday but for reason they have been put on different deliveries. Coil pack and HT leads already done, just waiting for plugs and gaskets

Nope even on long runs the best its ever achieved is 43-44mpg.

Right got the inlet off, all seems in check as for as the oil leak goes, there was no oil in the plug holes. Removed plugs and number 4 and 2 where very black. Ordered new gaskets, ht leads and plugs, all should be here tomorrow, fingers crossed this should work

It just seems like a very delicate situation but as far as im concerned the bully needs to be come down on like a tonne of bricks, its like many things, you do wrong there is a price to pay and if that price is big you'll think twice about doing it again. Kids have too much power today, just as i was leaving school the 'no touch' policy came in, so if you saw two kids fighting or running away from school or any reason the teachers where not allowed to lay a finger on them in fear of been sued under abuse..its just a joke

Yeah ill doing this myself but unlike most common folk i work weekends so Monday is the day of attack! Theres a fair amount down the black of the block and some coating the righthand side of the rocker cover. Its not dripping out as wherever ive parked it theres never been an oil leak

Exclusion to me is like isolation, excluded from classes. The term expelled meant you sent your sorry arse home, to me anyways. I missed abit off aswell, my brother in law rang the school and said if he gets any form of bullying again to this extent then i feel he is in his right to defend himself, to which the teacher said he will be in as just as much trouble as the child to started the fight. Even back when i was in school, isnt million years ago but i feel like it is, there was big press on bullying..all the normal spiel is 'dont suffer in silence' 'crack down on bullying' ect making out it was a zero tolerance topic. My 7 year nephew got beaten up on his way home from school, i know beating up sounds pretty brutal but he did come home with a black eye and bruised after been pinned down, its not asif it was a case of name calling. They have not got along since day 1 which sometimes is to be expected, not everyone gets along, anyways this boy is the year above my nephew got his friend and started on him, only living a stones throw away from the school my sister marched down and demanded him to called back into school, which happened (not sure about the other one) got a telling off and today has been put in exclusion..thats not enough! Why hasnt this boy been suspended?! My nephew still see's him in the play ground ect and got threatened again by 4 other of the bullies mates claiming he better what his back..for a 7 year old this is obviously terrifying! The teachers doing nothing about it. Im horrified, id said to my sister to go round to boys partners and tear the house down, cant believe how its been dealt with My mum has mentioned the police but that will do no good, their all obviously minors and its not to waste police time with but the school have taken minimal measures and its wrong.. Just a rant really, i dont kids but god help if it was my child!!

Oh i like you, thank you for your info. Been out to have a look tonight and a poke about and there is a fair amount of oil on the rocker so on removal of the inlet it obviously going to worth replacing these. Just been through the history and its has 2 sets of plugs both around 15-20k since 2011 apart so theres a possibly that the seal hasn't been replaced and its leaking..i have hope but regardless going to replace leads and plugs

Its the fact two days ago it ran on 3 cylinders and today it runs on 4..it hasnt moved or had any further work done But yes you are correct about the EML light. It has been flashing intermittently for about 4 month now, could go for weeks without coming on then it would do it non stop for one journey. It would go off if i sat stationary for a min or two, then sometimes it would come on then go off 10 seconds later, it was just completely random

Depends if there is a Catalytic converter in the price too? What does the actual failure sheet say? But yes a cat back exhaust for an MX-5 should be cheap as chips but this is a main dealer remember.

Ha good dig! I do admit Yeah next port of call is check plugs and leads but theres a sodding manifold in the way :/ Right..utterly confused! Just returned from local garage to have the blowing exhaust examined and the intermediate silencer is one the verge of breaking off, looks like it has been welded before on the other side but now the other side has gone (to the point that mr mechanic was concerned about it coming apart if i continue driving)..so ordered new mid section and will be fitted in due course but the confusing part..it was running on 4 cylinders, only just mind it was very lumpy and skittish with the power delivery but it most certainly fired on all four :/ WTF?

Sorry Mr leaking sunroof..yes that's the best dig I could come up as I adore your car. Yes it's continuous throughout the rev range but pulling the leads off one by one to hopefully drop it onto 2 cylinders makes no difference, making me think it's not one offending cylinder

Depends how badly corroded? If it looks like it's going to develop a hole or going to snap in the near future then yes. About 99% of exhausts or rusty due to metals used and the salt content of UK roads so it must be either pretty bad or you have gone to quick fit

Thanks for you reply Ade, yeah i had noticed that the rocker was leaking and this is the next thing to do but with it being a Renault and awkward i have to take off the inlet manifold to access plugs so its not really a 2 second job. Ive read about the corrosion on these wiring harnesses and it seems plausible. I have a list of stuff i want to get ticked off the list but im just a tad dubious about the fact they both happened at the same time

I know its a long stretch for it to actually causing the misfire but its convenient that they both happened at the same time

My Clio 172 is badly misfiring but as the same time as the misfire developed my exhaust has started blowing, rather badly as it sounds like a Boxer engine. Could this be the cause? It has blow once before that got repaired with a new crush gasket (it was just past the lambda) but this time it sounds 10 times worse. I've replaced the coil pack which actually worked till I tried to move the car then it decided to fire on 3 cylinders again I'm going to try and limp it to a friends work shop, it's completely down on power and engine management light flashing (which it has been doing on and off since I've bought it)

Thanks guys dont worry i do understand about a right fitted helmet, yes not the best fit in the world is not going to help matters but when theres a roll cage a few inches away from your head id rather have that then nothing. I do have an AVG helmet but abit small now..apparently my head has grown! Do agree with the claim of bike helmets are more commonly bought so youd figure their cheaper, i wouldt say theres a different construction
