  1. Thanks for clearing that up guys.
  2. Silver, that may be it. I hit standing water in a dark lane on the weekend at about 40mph and it was like a wave coming over the car. I will keep an eye out for it to see if it improves. Regards, Ivor.
  3. Hi folks, Can anybody tell me if steel wheels with an ET47 offset would be ok for my 2012 Octavia Greenline. Having spoken to two local dealerships they have advised that I would need wheels with an offset of ET50 (the same as the alloys on the car) but I was under the impression that the offset altered depending on the design of the wheel. I have seen an offer for wheels and tyres but I don't want to purchase them only to find they don't fit. Regards, Ivor.
  4. Hi, I have a new Octavia Greenline (6 weeks old) and both my front headlights have condensation in them, enough for the water to bubble on the lense. Having spoken to my local dealership I was advised that some moisture/condensation is normal ?!?!? Anybody else have any in their headlights? My car is a taxi and as you can imagine the majority of the fleet are Octavias and having looked at a few this morning theirs are all fine. The dealership have said to take the car in to look at but made no mention of actually replacing the units. Anyone else had trouble of the dealership regarding this issue? Regards, Ivor.
  5. I'll buy that if you still have it. Regards, Ivor.
  6. I had a 2004 Accord for about 2 years and it never missed a beat. You can't judge a make of car on one persons misfortune with said make.
  7. I agree with the above post.I have a greenline for my taxi, and i'm coming up to 2000 miles in it now,and frankly i'm really disappointed with it.I think the only way to get near Skoda's claim of 61MPG around town is to have it towed !!! The MPG seems to be all over the place as well.Over two different days i saw 51MPG (with a 35 mile A road run) and then the following day only managed 44MPG. I know taxi drivers usually have a lead right foot, but i am not one of those. In my last Skoda (09 Superb 105bhp) i got 40MPG all day long.Had i had an extended test drive prior to buying,i probably wouldnt have bought it for the fuel savings aspect. Regards, Ivor.
  8. I folks, i have pulled the trigger on a new Octavia Greenline ll which should be with me in about a weeks time. Now i'm not the best haggler out there so i don't really know how well i did on the deal.Anybody care to enlighten me. I got the car with rear parking sensors, mats and a burry bluetooth installed for £15100. Were they chuckling and rubbing their hands with glee,or did i get the better deal??? Cheers, Ivor.
  9. I had a Superb ll before, albeit the 1.9 on an 09.It was a great car,but what made me decide on the Octavia instead of the Superb this time was the test drive.I took both cars on the same route(both Greenlines) and the Octavia showd 52MPG average to the Superb's 45MPG.over 3 years that would add up to quite a saving, plus the initial saving when bought new. Regards, Ivor.
  10. Hi folks, i will most probably be pulling the trigger next week on a Greenline ll for my next taxi. I have had a search for fuel figures on here but most of them seem to be for motorway driving as well. The vast majority of my driving will be in town,so i was wondering what i can expect to get. I'm not a fast driver and my current taxi (Audi A6) returns me anything between 31mpg and 36mpg around town and i'm hoping that i will see at least 50mpg to make it worthwhile stepping out of the Audi. The Audi has only done 35K so there is plenty of life left in it,but i am seeing the price creeping back up at the pumps,so fuel economy has to be chosen over comfort and refinement. I was regularly getting 40mpg-43mpg out of my 1.9 Superb so am i being optimistic hoping for 50+ in an Octavia Greenline ll ? regards, Ivor.
  11. Hello Folks, I wonder if you could help me. I'm trying todo a bit of research on the safety features of the Skoda Superb I and II,namely the amount of airbags the basic models came with. I can get the info for the Skoda II off the Skoda website but there is no info listed for the first edition due to it being replaced. I appreciate all the help you can give. regards, Ivor.
  12. Hello Folks, I wonder if you could help me. I'm trying to do a bit of research on the safety features of the Skoda Octavia I and II, namely the amount of airbags on the base models. Looking at the Skoda website is no help because it's only the new models that are on there. I appreciate all the help you can give. Regards, Ivor
  13. Well a big thank you to White Dove Skoda and Andy Shoreland. It took them a few weeks but they have refunded my deposit in full.
  14. Hi folks, It's with a heavy heart that i have to cancel my order for my new Superb. My question is this, does anybody know if you can get your deposit back if you cancel? i ordered the car just two weeks ago. Cheers, Ivor.
  15. Duh,i should have known that as it went on my first one. Cheers, Ivor.
  16. Please excuse my ignorance but what is a DMF? Cheers, Ivor.
  17. Steady on fella, don't tar us all with the same brush. For the record folks,i am a taxi driver, and owned a Superb II for almost two years and loved it.I sold it to my taxi driving mate who also loves it,and get's asked regularly if it's a new car (it's now 2.5 years old). The reason taxi drivers buy manual cars was pointed out in an earlier post-cost.The auto is more expensive to buy and it is worse on fuel.Yes the manual 'box would need new clutches but when you factor in that a clutch will last anything upto 100K and cost about £600 to replace then you are only talking about 1.5-2K for clutches in the life of the car,where-as an autobox would be MUCH more expensive in the event of something going wrong. Having said all that,i have a new superb on order and as i'm fed up of changing gear(i think my local council had a job lot on traffic lights)i have decided to treat my self and have an elegance with DSG.I only hope to god that i can shut up the nay sayers and auto 'box doom mongers who work with me by buying a good un and nothing going wrong with it
  18. I expect it to be down on MPG from my last one,so if i can see 35MPG around town,i will be happy with that.
  19. Really? My last Superb II would return 58-60MPG on a motorway run at a steady 75MPH,and i would be disappointed when i couldn't see 40MPG on it after a days driving around town(it was a taxi). It was the older 1.9 engine, are the 2.0L really that much worse. I ask because i have just ordered a 140 elegance with DSG for a new taxi, and if the figures you are quoting are correct,i'm a little bit worried. Cheers, Ivor.
  20. Keyless Entry and Start System
  21. Hi, I am a former superb II owner and I have just placed an order for a new superb elegance and I ticked the KESSY box as my only extra. The problem I have is that the dealership I went to had no examples to show me and the salesman had no experience with the KESSY system. I am browsing this site on my mobile and I cannot find a search function to help me find an answer to my question so hopefully someone can help. I have read and understood bow the system works in relation to opening and locking the car but what about actually starting it? All help is fully appreciated. Ivor.
