Driving home yesturday..did seem a little smoother generally, but not driven it today, i'll let you now later, oddly though last night drive had better mpg:confused: hmm could be the placebo effect though.
-
Plugs in and all seems well, car idles much smoother. £21 in halfrauds, but with discount 11.99:D:thumbup: Looks like the NSK PFR6Q's that came out are the originals so have done 63,000 and look abouty had it. just for info those coils were a pig to get out, nicely stuck in.

What the best plugs to get? Bought a set of Bosch super 4's, they any good? quiet a variation on gap though!! any recomendations?

taking the plunge getting remapped !!!
Blanchie replied to funkymonkey's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
This got me thinking the other day when i've decide to take the plunge...a lot of tuners advertise that the "new map" is invisible to the garage when it's in for servicing, how they going to find out?? if thats the case unless the insurance company really does not want to pay out and spend alot of time analysing the car they're going to find nout. From previous expearance (non skoda and a close friend) the Insurance guy will only look for spotting if the car looks normal, (bonnet get lifted if you lucky) and if any damage ties up with the claim, internal engine mods wont get spotted unless yoiu have brighly coloured pipes etc and carbon boxes, body kits etc you have no chance in hiding. Or suspicions that it's "highly tuned" I think one of the main reasons is that modifications may effect the cars value.....if i was spending £2000 on an uprated engine, i'd want it added to the insurance in case of a total loss. -
Ta guys Booked in with Will on Friday:D:D:D

Standard Rear Bumper / VRS Rear Bumper
Blanchie replied to matt_theforce's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Where boits you getting the VRS front bumper from if you dont mind me asking? was thinking of that route on mine, already have the wheels so may build a 4x4 VRS:D  -
Hi Guys, Just been doing a bit of research on a re-mapping on my 1.8t, including forum searches:P I've found a few reviews from the Furbys guys on "Performance Torque" which seem good, anyone from the 1.8t brigade used them? is the likes of the Jabba Map worth the extra outlay? They seem good from the website and cracking prices, and rather local to me. Blanchie
-
Anyone know if i remove it i will be left with lots of little mounting holes? to cold to take the boot apart at the mo LOL:D was hoping to replace it with a VRS one. Blanchie

I had ZZ3's on my octy VRS estate before i sold it...were ok...but were quite hard and a bugger to warm up in th ewinter/rain.....lasted 20,000 on the front though. I think they're differant to the ZV3's AFAIK. Blanchie

Just a quick tangent on this thread but, when i got my Citroen C4 HDi i Rang Citroen to enquire about Veg oil \ Bio diesel running in that engine. Their response was that you are ok upto 30% mix, as most Euro fule stations have 15% in their pumps anyhow, i've been running that for 30,000 from new without any probs, engine runs much better on it, ok my mix % changes during the year, and i add thinning agents.

Blueflame, Milltek, Magnex or Scorpion??
Blanchie replied to nlsea's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Nothing wrong with the blueflame....just prefer a very suttle noise like the jetex or the quieter Milltek.....although had a Miltek on my VX and it sounded -

Octy 4x4 hatch - What to do first?
Blanchie replied to Blanchie's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Good advice mate:thumbup:, was thinking of building a 4x4 VRS..but mongy is going to be a prob after this. Cheer sthe rest of you:thumbup:, Drop in filter + remap + brakes i think, still could do with extra height as mud tracks do feature sometimes. -
Hi All, I havent even picked my 4x4 hatch up yet and already planning the mods:D. I've manged over the last 12 month save up for some bits and have roughly 1000 to spend on it. Already purchase a set of Vrs wheels for 250 (havent got them yet), but whats the best route from here? Was thinking Exhaust + custom remap + new brake pads, not sure if i've got enough for all that but worth a shot. Is that the best route to go? Blanchie
