    140 or 170

I have the 170 in a Superb L&K, I get over 600 miles a tank and a MPG of nearly 60 per tank. Yeti is lighter.
  2. Hi Gents/Ladies, Had the very mis-fortune to accidentally scuff the "alloys" on MY2012 L&K Superb. Gutted. But also a bit puzzled. It was one of those kerbs where it looks straight wen your going close up to it whilst reversing (was in Brixton at the time) but then this was a "Natural" stone kerb and had a jagged edge sticking out which caught the wheeel (. Took it to a place recommended by Skoda and they took one look at it and said "Cant do anything with them, they are not Alloy Wheels." ??????? The Chap then proceeded to inform me that these particular wheels are made of solid steel, as in a full block of Steel has been diamond cut specifically to this wheel shape. He also stated that this wheel, although more hassle when they are Kerbed/Scuffed, is so much more rigid than the conventional alloy wheels (as he pointed towards a Porshea Cayenne) and stated they would never buckle going over pot holes because they are so strong and you would get better tyre wear performance because of this. He also said they are double the cost of any alloy wheel. He advised for the repair to be done properly they needed to be sent away to be poilished and diamond sanded. I asked him could he not do anything as in if i looked at it from the road would i notice it. He advised he could get rid of the noticeable mark, but not to pressure wash it or use the acid cleaner (wonder wheels) on them as the laquer he would put on it could peel away and leave a grey mark on the alloy. One thing i have noticed is that in some places the black internal rim paint seems to be comming off on the outer edge in places. Wonder if any other L&K owners have noticed this? So good wheels, yes. Expensive to repair, hmm yes. Cost me £48 to have the scuff removed completley. Dents8 were the people that did it in Bolton and i was very impressed. (they have fixed scratches on my car before when it got damaged at my local dealers). So some good news and some bad news for L&K owners with the standard supplied steel wheels..
  3. Appologies to all!!!!! I can confirm (having actually driven home at night on Friday from London and looked at the exteriror mirrors) my car does come with auto dimming mirrors. If you look around them you can see a black border.
  4. Awh Bloody hell!!! So was just my imagination..... I am sure my Ocy III Elegance with every option going had it? Will check with an indetermiante spin later down to the Chili pickle (Diet is going well by the way). Bugger! Right, were is the barstareeed Salesman!!!!
  5. Best Ground plane by far will be the Mag Mount. Make sure you use something under it (As Well ass the rubber that comes with it) as it will leave a very hard to clean ring on your roof. Also, give the cable that trails along the roof a wipe once or twice a week, otherwise you will get a horrible black mark off the cable as it moves in the wind and marks the top of your car (this does come off easier than the ring but stay on top of it). I am going in for my foundation exam and will at some point have to put a mount on my L&K, would prefer a glass mount for local repeater work but it is not anywhere near as good as a mag mount for long distance. Incidentally, have you considered taking some boots with you while going mobile across Europe? Can always do with an extra "Kick" now and again "For Emergencies like". Dont forget to VSWR your antenna away from any buildings or trees etc to try and get a 1:1.2-1.5 at best.
  6. The only PITA when leaving them on Heated position is when you reverse, the mirror will not tilt unless its in the L position. I use mine toi clear raindrops which it does very effectivley......God.....Dont you just love British Summers!!!!......
  7. Hi Fella, I can answer some but not all of your questions. So here goes:- 1. Paint Colour, white is the new silver and would be a good choice. If you get scratches you will hardly notice and as this is a solid paint colour easy to sort out. 2. Ventilated front seats - IMHO I have these as part of the L&K upgrade pack and they are nice but be aware you can have ventilation one of two ways, either on your back, or on your bum. You cannot have both at the same time. Deffinantly does help with sticky long journeys but is not a 100% solution. Would i pay extra for it, probably not. 3. Heated Nozzles, yes agree with you 100%, i added them and the auto dimming mirror (incidentally, without the auto dimming mirror, the external mirros would not dim as well), so good choice here. 4. Sunset Glass - Go for this option, i had a citroen C4 picasso (7 seater) and that had the blinds in it, they are fiddly and although they never broke it is a real PITA when the kids cannot clip them in place and your on the M1 doing 70Mph. Sunset glass cancels this out, although it does not seem as dark as say Ford Mondeos. 9. Extension to the warranty - Big time get this as it is with SKODA UK and npot some third party company that has a 100 page book with 98 pages of exclusions and 2 pages that apply. The warranty stays with the vehicle as well, it cost me £600 to add 2 years or 100K miles to my L&K. Well worth it. Be aware Skoda insist that it is serviced only at Skoda authorised dealers. (bit like the unlimited mileage you get on a BMW, the car has to be serviced always at a BMW approved service centre.) 10. MDI, nice idea but a bit pricey for what it is, yes you can hook up your ipod or iphone and play it remotely through your stereo steering controls, but TBH, i would dump it on the SD Card, you can have up to 32GB of MP3 or WMA files on there and it wont cost you an extra £160. Also, you can stream the music via bluetooth direct to the unit anyway so why would you bother? 13. Skoda service packages, on speaking to the dealer because i do 20K plus a year it really isnt worth it. Again, depends on your mileage. Hope i have been of some help. there are a lot more experienced and cleverier people on here than me but i am now on my 3rd Skoda and can say without a shadow, they are the cheapest VW you can buy!!!! with the most toys!!!!! 8. Guys, I have just sent instructions to two fellow Briskodians that e-mailed me. Sorry i did not do it sooner but wanted to take my time documenting the procedure to ensure nobody thinks it isnt working (Apparently it tells you on a few occassions during the process that the CD is wrong or the SW is at the wrong level). I got my info by trawling the web as i refused to line someones pockets for these stupid adapters at the back of the head unit. You can use VAGCOM to enable it but that costs over £500 to get the SW and adapter. AS i am sure most of you are aware, the Columbus head unit is the same as the VW RNS510 head unit. Following the info in the below link (as well as some of the comments about error messages) got it working for me. I took a risk with there file that i downloaded but that is not to say that it is still safe. Mine is safely tucked away on a HDD and is tried and tested (VIM that is, not the Disbale VIM). So you can either follow the info in the link to get the file or PM me with your e-mail and i will send you the file i used. (PS: I scanned for viruses before opening it). Hope this helps you guys out as i have been helped out by a lot of stuff on here. Again please let me re-iterate: DO NOT WATCH WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING!!!!!! The last thing i want is for anyone to kill themselves/their family other road users or pedestrians by using the info i have provided. If you are like me and just want the kids or your passengers to not be bored on long trips then please fill your boots. I will try and help you out as much as i can but on my first attempt i got it to work straight away by using the info in the below link. All the best people!!! http://www.myturbodiesel.com/forum/f9/how-unlock-rns510-vim-tv-free-free-video-motion-play-dvd-while-driving-9150/index3.html Nick Cz
  9. The Superb Twin door in Black with L&K upgrade is the dogs dangling bits guys!!!! Everytime i look at that car puts a smile on my face (and i am an x Ocy vRS driver!!) Only thing is whenever i drive it and i have my petrol head friend in the car he tells me off for listening to "normal" music and says "what are you doing, what type of car are we in...!!!" then he makes me put on Hoffman or Beethoven!!! The L&K is by far the best car out there for the money. Mine cost £23679 and that is with the Auto dim mirror, Black magic paint and extra 2 year guarentee (now 5 years or 100,000 miles). Pure VW quality with a Skoda badge and skoda price tag. In fact, i herd a rumour that the head of VW has complained to the head of Skoda as a lot of Passat drivers are converting to Superb due to all the extra toys you get as standard which are pricy options on the VW passat eqivilant!
  10. Correct! The boot lid houses the reverse and fog lights which are normal filiment bulbs. Only LED's on L&K Twindoor is Rear Brake Lights and rear tail lights (as well as the mirror indicators)
  11. Guys, If you do want the VIM enabling i have tried it on my 2012 March L&K and it works perfectly, no bugs or issues and the unit has been back to the dealer to have the digital amp replaced (another seperate issue) and they updated the maps etc. Nothing is wrong with the car. Happy to give the file to any Briskoda member but would rather e-mail then stick it on some Chav share site. PM me and i will send you my e-mail for you to respond. Had VIM enabled for 3 weeks now with no issues.
  12. The Picture goes off because the CAN BUS is feeding data into the Columbus unit about the vehicle exceeding the speed of 5 Kmh. (This can be changed to 300 Kmh so the picture stays on)
  13. Absolutely love the reply and appreciate where you are comming from. Had VIM enabled for over a two weeks now (and have had the capability on my Desire HD for over a year). No issues, kids happy. Really appreciate and respect your views over this which is why i have not publisized the full instructions. Only available on request by PM. Other thing to point out is on the secret menu (hold settings button for 15 seconds) you can select audio and turn off loudness. works better with the digital amp in L&Ks
  14. Hi Everyone, Not seen a post on this non-issue on any of the forums but thought i better share it anyway. On my Skoda Superb L&K 2012 i was tuning in the freeview at home and noticed that some channels had perfect picture but no audio (The looudspeaker symbol with a line through it comes up in the top left corner). After a good 10 minutes of leafing through the not so helpful manual, i tried a bit of lateral thinking. Failing to spot any menu items on the Freeview mode.... What you will notice that the channels that do work when you intially select them, the on screen display shows the channel name and to the right the audio channel number (in a working case "Stereo" will be shown). When you have perfect picture but no audio you will note on the same on screen display, it says "Channel B". This is because the Columbus is selecting the the second of the dual (bi-Lingual) audio sub carriers that go out with the normal audio. To rectify this, whilst on a tv channel with clear picture and no audio but showing "channel B"....... Press the settings button on the bottom right of the Columbus unit. Select "Video" then scroll down and you will see the audio option says "Channel B". Change this to "Channel A" then press the "Media" button to retern to your TV display. Presto, you should now have audio on not only that channel but all of the other bi lingual channels that didnt work!! I now have 20 stored and working were as before i only had 7 with audio. Thought i would share this as there is no instruction in the manual that you need to be on the affected channel first then select "Settings" then "Video" then change the Channel B to Channnel A. Please note if yo are on a working channel that has only single audio feed and goto "Settings" -> "Video" you will notice the channel A option is greyed out. Hope this helps you guys out.
  15. Hi Guys, Just thought i would let you all know. I have a 2012 March Superb L&K Saloon/Hatch. I have just enabled VIM and it works perfectly! Now the kids are happy. With regard to another quote about the Law. I think a case of double standards here. Why is it ok for you to watch a satnav display (this is video isnt it?) and also why is it ok for these massive LED advertising screens near Solihull on the M5 and on the London innner Doughnut? Any policeman that pulls you over for such an offence you can quote to him the law of contunity and that you as a driver are not follwing the law of "Stupidity" by watching the TV whilst driving. If you do.... then your name will soon change from PRATT to RIP. Guarenteed! So if you do enable VIM, make sure it is just for your passengers to watch! Anybody wanting to enable VIM if you PM me i will send you the details of how to do it safely. PS: You can of course disable it as well as enable it.
  16. Guys, I am looking at upgrading the DRL's and the indicators as i have the L&K saloon with the rear LED side/brake Lights. Think the indicators and the DRLs would be the finnishing touch? Any ideas how easy it is to change the indicator bulbs?
  17. Hmmm Watch out L&K owners for the power steering firmware update (recall) that is going round. The dealer did mine and when i tried to use my Park Assist it just kept saying "Speed to High". Even following all the instructions no GUI for parking ever came on. Took it back and they did yet another power steering firmware update and hey presto it worked! Only problem is they tested the Park Assist after the Firmware update and politley wrote on the report sheet "Park assist working when tested". Did they not think to test all faults BEFORE they started the work!!! Another thing. The L&K has an upgraded sound system, now i thought that only the two additional door speakers are amped, wrong! The L&K has a big Amplifier hidden behind the dash that drives all of the speakers. My NS Rear door bass speaker was not working (didnt notice till i was polishing it one day and had the music on low then opened the rear NS back door and could only hear the tweeter.) thought this was a simple "Blown" speaker but after two visits to the dealer they have ordered a replacement Amplifier. To make matters worse, while messing about they have done something to the otherwise 80% functioning audio and now it has a horrible high pitched squeal which means you simply cannot listen to the stereo at all!! got to wait for thew part to arrive (next Saturday) then it is booked in for a couple of days for them to sort it out. Absolutley love the car but it has been back to the dealers more times for little stupid things than any other car i have had. Still £23000 for a car that is fully loaded, is barely half a second slower than a 170PS vRS and is stupidly luxarious!!! I am going to try the mod to enable VIM for the kids later, i am cheesed off with them having those stupid £79 DVD screens hanging over the fron seats when the bloody car has the capability!!! I am 35 and i know not to look at a DVD while driving. What is the difference between that and the SAT NAV!!!!
  18. Guys,

Sorry there is a problem with the website so i have uploaded photo's to facebook.

  19. Ok Guys, I can confirm that on closer inspection the car has rear LED side lights as well as Brake lights. Havent been able to stick the pictures on here as yet (can figure out to do it yet). Car is very pretty and the dark Brown interior does not look silly (would have preffered Black though). Very nice car, those of you who have ordered will love the two tone Alloys look really nice.
  20. Hi Guys, Ordered mine in November and have had a phone call from the dealer saying it has arrived off the transporter. I am going to see it now and take some good quality pictures to post back on here. Oh BTW. If you goto Skoda's Global site you can actually download the full owners manual and the manual for the columbus sat nav/TV/DVD player. I have already had a good read of it. Dying to find out whether it has full LED rear lights (except for indicator and reverse) or just brake lights that are LED. European version has rear diode lights incl side lights (rear) Will report back later tonight.
  21. Are you able to dis-able global close on windows though?
  22. Question William: Do Furby's have same box as ocy?
  23. Any of you other Skoda mob got the speed sensitive central locking enabled on your car?
