  1. Thanks Avalon, I have the flip keys all cut and working, just got to program them to the immobizer and sync to the central locking. This computer I have bought will do that and more! How would you find the SKC code? You didn't mention..... Thanks for the detailed reply though! Craig!
  2. Thanks for all the suggestions, I was going to invest in a VAG COM system anyway, so Ive bought one, when it arrives I'll let you know if I needed to replace the transponders etc! Just got to get that SKC code, if this computer requires it! Thanks again, I hope to get it Friday, so will let you know what happens the weekend!!! Fingers Crossed! Craig!
  3. Thanks for that! Would I be able to code the immobiliser transponder with the aid of a launch or similar vehicle diagnostics computer, do you know? Or will I i need to replace the transponder with a new blank one? Also, this secret number? Is it within the ecu or can be found in paper work? Cheers bud, Craig!
  4. Hi all, I bought a fabia with only a manual key to open the doors, of which only the drivers door opens, but thats the central locking motor in the door at fault, I hope! I have bought 2nd hand key fobs for it, and have had some new blades cut that work a treat in the ignition, apart from starting the car! I have tried the programming procedure that my autodata tells me, but that doesn't work! So, is this possible or have I bought a coupe of fobs that can't be re-programmed? Any help with this would be grand! Thanks in advance, Craig!
  5. Don't hold your breath mate! I swapped the heater controls today for a set I know works, that I had in stock. It's still the same! I'm going to see if someone has a computer that could re-program the climate control system and reset the controls and various motors!
  6. Hi all, Back again! My 03 plate fabia tdi has had this problem since I bought it back in november. On a journey the climate control only wants to blow hot unless you put the temp dial to the coldest setting, of which you have to wait for a good 5 mins for it to blow cold, but if you want some heat again and you will have to wait no more than 10 seconds! In addition to this, the air recirculation button only works when it wants to! Now, I have in stock a second hand control panel for this car, is it worth a try or does anyone think it is something else? I have been told that these, like the fords, have a stepper motor under the bonnet that will affect this. Has anyone had any problems with these, or could this be the problem? It is possible. Any help would be superb! Thanks all! Craig!
  7. Thanks for that part number, I'll pop down and grab one, that will finish it off nicely, just the heater controls to put right and the central locking to fix! Many thanks!!!
  8. Hi all, this seems to be the problem the 03 fabia tdi I just bought the wife has. I drove it today, quite a journey, a very hot one actually! It seems the climate control is not working as it should. I should explain! The heater, when set to anywhere but stone cold, is blowing red hot, which is nice for about 2 mins, thinking it will find its own temperature as it should and keep it constant, NO! I initially thought, the front in-car air temp sensor was faulty, but I then found if you turn it fully over to the coldest setting, it still blows warm, unless you frantically move all the dials then it finally, after a while, starts blowing cold air, I then thought either control unit, or the dials/switches, as I messed further, I found the air recirc button when pressed lit up and then cancelled, no matter where the air was asked to be directed. I know that some or most of climate control systems will turn the air recirc off when set to the demister setting, correct me if I'm wrong. I am sure it is down the controls as pictured at the top of this post, thanks for the very good explanation on how to do the job, by the way! Unless anyone thinks otherwise with my situation, I will order a new heater & A/C switch panel and hope for the best! Someone has mentioned to me, that it could be the external air temperature sensor is faulty, but I am not sure that could be it, as the problems I have are all to do with the temperature inside the cabin. If I am wrong please tell me! If I am barking up the wrong tree, please let me know, before I spend time and money on a car I am rapidly losing faith in. I think I may have bought a lemon, and I'm a mechanic. Yes, even we get caught out from time to time, I trusted the seller far too much! But all the problems I am experiencing are ones that you won't find out until you live with it! Still, got it for a bargain, so don't mind spending a bit on it, the bride loves them, so I've got to try my best before breaking it for spares! I might just add, although my diagnostic equipment is quite primitive, it does not show up any faults, neither ongoing or pending ones. Kind Regards! Craig!
  9. Thanks for that, but in between me asking and actually having a look at the thing, once I got the stereo out, it seems some idiot had put in place a handsfree kit, and what a way to do it, I ask you, it was not necessary for a mile of cables, all then coming in to the standard ISO that these are made with! Must be better on fuel now all that weight has been removed! Thanks for the swift reply though!
  10. Hi all, Just bought a Fabia 2003 model, we want to get rid of the old cassette radio and install a single din sony unit. Is this going to fit, or do I need to buy a double din head unit and get rid of the 'money tray'? Also is the double din an option anyway? If I can fit a sat nav/ audio unit, that may be an option in the future. Is there any restrictions to this? Thanks in advance for any help/ advice! Kind Regards, Wig!
  11. Cheers for that mate, I'll have to find some time to get the door panel off, then report back! That alarm system sounds great, so I may install one of them anyway. Unless its easy enough to buy a new remote key and program it, I'll have to look in to that too! Thanks for the swift reply, I'll let you all know what I find! Thanks again!
  12. Hi all, I am new here, just bought a 2003 Fabia estate Elegance Tdi for the bride, and the central locking doesn't work via the drivers door key, yet it all opens with the press of the button on the drivers door arm rest place. Is it just a case of the sensor around the lock barrel being defective, or is it more sinister, as these do suffer with electrical problems as I keep reading! Also, along the same lines, as I didn't get the original remote for the central locking with the car, and I'm sure it must have been built with such a device, I was toying with the idea of fitting an alarm system that will incorporate the central locking system, thus doing away with the task of finding the key hole in the dark. Is there any system you can recommend or any problems with doing this, I.E. the immobilizer? Thanks in advance for any help given! Wig!
