  1. Thanks guys, didn't realise you could choose to have the fix, are there any negatives in not having it done?
  2. Hi guys, my lame 1.6 TDI has just had its 3 year birthday. As a special present I was going to get her a lovely remap to hopefully put a few hairs on her chest. Now my question is: my car has had the recall notice so do you suggest waiting until Skoda /VW fix the emissions or will it be OK to do now? Many thanks Blubber2
  3. Thanks guys, I just called a local tow bar fitter who said they could fit it and also program the system all for £790.00 !!! I have got another number which I will try, just concerned about Skoda not honouring a warranty issue if its done independently
  4. Hi Guys Can anybody suggest a reasonably priced tow bar fitted in the South East. I have a 6 month old 1.6D SE Connect and I just called the dealership and they quoted me just shy of £900!! they say its because the engine management system needs tuning otherwise it will invalidate my warranty. With a quote like this I will have a nice trailer for sale soon. Any Suggestions gratefully received Thanks Blubs
  5. Thanks guys, yes I stream music via Bluetooth, and if I hear the phone ringing in my Jacket I can answer the call on the Bolero. I am always updating the phone when a new OS is available, I have tried deleting the phone out of the Head unit and reinstalling it but to no avail.
  6. Hi the volume on the phone is fine, as I sometimes hear it ringing if I don't have the radio on, Many thanks though Blubs
  7. Hi guys I have a newish 1.6 SE Connect, but my phone has stopped ringing through the Bolero head unit, if I am playing music the music stops so I know the phone is ringing but if I haven't got any sounds playing I keep missing calls. I am connecting via Bluetooth to a iPhone 4, any suggestions to fix this will be gratefully received, thanks in advance. Blubs
  8. Why are tow bars so damned expensive!!

  9. Hi peeps, I am back, I was originally on here 11 years ago, when I was one of the very first MK 1 Octavia VRS owners, I owned my baby for 6 years and in that time I had her remapped and tweeked to around 230 BHP, I then realised that I was soon going to lose my licence if I continued to drive my beast. I decided to trade her in and went down the big 4x4 route now 5 years later, I again have joined my favourite family. This time though I bought with my serious head and decided I needed economy and bought an Anthracite Grey Octavia SE Connect. I will be regularly around and look forward to chatting with you. 10. Hi Peeps It's been a long time since I posted on here, I recently traded in the Octavia Vrs for a Kia Sorrento (4x4). I feel sad that I did it because I loved my vrs so very much it was the first car I bought from new and we did all of her 88000 miles together. So instead of spending £1500 to keep her happy on the road I traded her in and spent another £18000 on a new Kia, don't get me wrong the Kia is a fantastic car (and yes I do take her off road) but I miss my baby, I have seen her around and I believe she is still in my home town. The new man in her life seems to keep her as clean as I use to so I am OK with that, I am now saving my pennies so one day I will buy her back. She will be mine again!! Anyway Happy Christmas and have a Great New Year, I shall pop back now and again to make sure you are all having fun!! George:thumbup:
  11. Hi Peeps Just had the Symphony tested and It's broke. Now can I get another head unit that will run my CD changer in the boot. The man in the shop said no, told me I could get a different cd changer to run off of the standard Grundig Symphony Unit but not vice versa. Was he just trying to sell that Sony or is he telling the truth. If I have got to replace the Head unit has anyone any recommendations. Ta George
  12. HIDY PEEPS Radio has just given up, I know they are not brilliant but it better than nothing when your stuck on the M25 for 3 hours every day. Has anybody got any clues? Could be fuse, is there an in line fuse behind the unit ? I tried the fuse panal and nothing blown in there. If I had to go down a new HU route what do people recommend as I would like to keep the 6 cd changer in the boot and I have a Nokia phone kit which pauses the stereo if I get a call, the sound from the call comes out of the speakers too. Cheers George
  13. Yes it was FOC but the car was brand new at the time, it also came with a great big dent in the side but that's another story
  14. Mine Squeeks and moans, It will be your Anti Roll Bar Bushes, I have had mine replaced twice now
  15. Well spotted, but it does happen, I bought my 51 Vrs new from a dealer and that came with the wrong Kn0b and wrong steering wheel, they soon changed it over though
  16. It's one of those difficult things if you can't stand the pain you will get it done but 3 people I know have had this done and they all had problems. My wife bless her had her upper one removed (It was growing into her other tooth) and since she has had it removed she has had all kinds of troubles with her sinus, she is always bunged up and has a constant dripping nose. my mate had this done and the first dentist actually gave up because he couldn't extract the tooth and after a second trying they sent him to a specialist hospital. it was here that they discovered that the first dentist had actually snapped the jaw bone and was trying to extract it through the gum. the second never realised either and he just made matters worst. Looking on the bright side he got £15000 compensation but he still would rather be £15000 out of pocket and have healthy teeth. I am probably the wrong person to give positive feedback over this proceedure, but just look at the list the dentist will give you of problems that could happen, they got to cover their backs.
  17. Just been on Confused.com and guess what! the only company that will touch me is Admiral!!! AGHHH I don't want to be standard anymore!! I am 38 never had an accident, never had a claim, never had any points. Think I will call in the morning and speak to a human.
  18. I can't believe it I just went on line to get a quote from Admiral and they quoted me £320.00 for my standard car but when I changed the quote to include a 11-25% Chip the quote came back at a totally unreasonable £550.00
  19. Thanks Goochie Who was the insurance company? Blubs
  20. Hi Peeps Not been for ages, working hard and playing harder, but I have now finished paying for the old vRS and was thinking of going down the Jabba route, so do we still get a discount if we mention Briskoda and if I do go down the bad boy route who will touch me with the infamous insurance barge pole. I currently pay around £350.00 for a standard Vrs Octavia so any ideas what I could expect with a custom remap. I know it's all been asked before but I am sure the website was a lot easier to navigate than it is now. Thanking you in advance Blubber2
  21. Hidy Peeps Vrs just been in to garage as the engine management system light was on, they found a small problem with a sensor. I told them that I occassionally get a lack of Turbo boost and that I have to stop the car turn the engine off and that everything then is OK once more. The reply was that it was a known fault that the Turbo is overboosting so the engine management system shuts down the turbo, is this true and is it true that the only way to cure it is to have a complete new Turbo. I hope it's cheaper then that. George
  22. GAFF you assumed correctly, Bushes were replaced under the Skoda Warranty. I think what Denis was saying is that if I paid for the bushes I would get a warranty but as Skoda paid for them I won't. Regarding the Sweep Stake, I was contacted straight away with an automated email. But I am still waiting to hear from a real person, 2 days and counting.
  23. Thank guys, Skoda UK now have my email. Shall we start a sweep stake on how long the reply will take? I recon 3 days. Thanks again George
  24. Hidy Peeps Could someone be kind enough to tell me how and who do I contact at Skoda UK (email would be good). It's regarding my ARB's the bushes were changed 8 months ago and the squeeky creaking has come back. The dealer that changed them no longer has a Skoda franchise and my new dealer couldn't give a monkeys over the problem. I would have thought that the repair would come with a 12 month warranty so now I will approach Skoda directly. I have tried looking through Briskoda but when you put Skoda UK in the search box it seems to bring up every thread ever written. Thanking you in advance George
