today started glorious, out walking track inspections in the sunshine, hiviz polo shirt, sunglasses, even put on my company issued hisviz sun hat (which i modified the brim of to allow me make it look less awful).
then, while out in a strip with no shelter, along a coastal causeway, still enjoying the sun despite the light sweat on my back under the gear bag i had with me and sounds of chimps and exotic birds drifting across the bay from the nearby wildlife park... the sky turned black and it down poured. it suddenly became a much longer 1/2 mile trudge back to the van...

For the second time in my life (and in a fortnight) I made an offer on a house.
For the first time, the vendor accepted it.
Not the one I live at, inconveniently; but you can't have everything.
this is brilliant news Pete, well deserved too!

And just to clarify one point on the above - to me it CANNOT be resolved by change of Government - as all of them, of whatever political persuasion, have been as bad as the last lot
ultimately no government change will impact how the NHS functions as, like all state services, its the same career civil servants actually applying the policies. only way to change it is for accountability to lead somewhere - ie those in charge getting sacked. which will never happen..

Yeah, I find the name Trump Derangement Syndrome is probably a better label for his... more... committed... supporters. Given the level of blind faith they place in the Great Leader who has convinced them that losing rights and freedoms to a dic(k)tator is a good thing.

wandered out to lock the shed about 45mins ago. ive just come back inside after going back out 3mins after the first time, dragging a half asleep 9 yr old and an equally half asleep missus mac with me to show them the aurora visible over our house!
not steong enough to have colour definition, but could see the pulses of intensity changing.
never seen them before, and this fat south is beyond rare.
im now waiting for all the crackpot videos of people linking the massive CME thats caused the aurora to be so large to the hot weather cause "the suns exploded and so is much hotter"...

never ceases to amaze me, how Trump Derangement Syndrome is so all-consuming, that both the success and prosperity of the US under Trump and the calamities rthat have occurred under Biden, are completely whitewashed
you need to go look at some actual facts about US economic indicators through both "regimes"...

How on God's earth could that be seen as derogatory or in poor taste ! or 'easily offended' Easily offended !!! Jeez oh.
Absolutely unbelievable response. Sad.
To even suggest I posted somethign that was in poor taste or aimed to offend... That in itself is offensive to me.
Censor people over that - OMG !
okay, so....
explain it to me -
where is the humour in a story about a dead whale? thats poor taste in the context of this thread.
if youre of the opinion that your comment about the lawyers added something to it, it didnt.
and the part of my post in relation to the spoiler tool etc, is just meant as a general reminder as on occassion things can be posted which cause offence, and so rather than asking people not to post certain types of humour this is a workable compromise.
Im not easily offended, and most briskodians are not, I would just like this thread to be a spot without arguments.

I'll take the plain jane wolf in sheep clothing.
Went to look at the byd seal. Very nice. But why they made it a saloon we'll never know. Totally impractical for almost anyone, including golf playing execs.
Nice brakes on the 3.6 version though. Suspect one of these would be a lot of fun in rural Wales on a quiet night.
I saw one of these briefly earlier today. it does look pretty good.
im just not convinced yet about byd as a brand... a stupid number of their "sales" are parked in fields in china to get the grant money.
and werent they effectively kicked out of the European market a couple of yrs ago as their ncap testing was utterly abysmal?
i kinda hope they prove me wrong though! better looking than teslas and no money going to elon...

I believe you're looking for Magic Black, paint code 9910.
You should be able to ask a Skoda dealer to look up the colour code against the registration number and/or the VIN.
pretty syre there was only Black Magic available as a black option.
15 extra bhp if it was on a VRS
you get an extra 5 with the diesels like my one was.

Video shows dead whale across cruise ship's bow in NYC
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68980345
A video shows a 44-foot (13.4m) whale across the bow of a cruise ship in New York City.
The ship sailed into the Port of Brooklyn on Saturday. Marine experts have identified the whale as a sei whale, which is an endangered species, according to CBS News, the BBC's US partner.
The ship, managed by Geneva-based company MSC Cruises, docked in New York before sailing onwards to Canada. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of any marine life," said cruise officials said in a statement procured by CBS News.
The whale's body was taken to New Jersey where it underwent a necropsy - an autopsy on an animal. Experts hope the findings will help determine whether the creature was dead before it hit the ship.
Why do they want to know if it was dead b4 the ship hit it? Oh forgot, it's America we're talking about here. No doubt a string of lawyers acting on behalf of the whales family will be looking to sue the cruise line
Im not saying i set the rules in this thread, but i did start it and i like it to be an pleasant place.
i fail to see where there is any chuckle in this story, maybe the "thats bizarre..." thread would have been better suited?
and i doubt its about a law suit..
more so its about marine biologists taking an opportunity to learn more about the species and its cause of death so that we can hopefully learn and improve how we work around them in the ocean.
i have asked for people to use the spoiler option and tag posts that may be seen as derogatory or in poor taste, not to censor people, nor to pander to the "easily offended" brigade, but just for common sense - comedy takes many forms and im open to them all being explored, but not everyone likes "shock value" funnies.
