Ecco mode and Eco trip in Skoda Octavia 2017
Which engine have you which will give an idea to which DSG you have, so a 2.0 TSI or TDI and a 6 speed Wet clutch DSG.? If it is Coasting Mode that you are asking about when Eco selected? It will not harm the DSG as whatever it does in disengaging drive was designed to do what it does.

DSG recall !!!
This is a very common VW Group thing. DVLA / DVSA 'Safety Recalls' without VW Group / Skoda UK moving their butt to tell Registered Keepers, then when they do no rush to get vehicles in or checked and they will even have ones at Main Dealers in Trade and getting sold but with outstanding Recalls, Service Campaigns, Workshop Actions. Then there are the Recalls that unless your car gets Main Dealership Servicing they are not a REcall, just a Service Action. But the DVLA / DVSA / DfT let VW Group act this way.

6k 1st Year insurance
To be honest i would load your insurance as well for the back box delete. Not because of any performance gain because i doubt the 1.2 TSI has any, just because the noise is probably anti-social.

1.5 tsi throttle lag
Sorry but they might say anything, especially once they have the car in the workshop and read what it tells them, and they are aware of the Factory part fitted or not the factory parts / MCU.

diesel volume
Sorry no. I have poor hearing, they are just cars to me & a TDI can sound quite sporty. Interested in lower running costs of the TDI with SCR rather than a TSI. ? How many miles a day or week do you do and are these outwith the London area?

Dry or wet age? Old question
The issue is when people have issues. Hearing how well Skoda / VW Group sorted them out means nothing as the bills add up. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/519073-15-tsi-throttle-lag

1.5 tsi throttle lag
@jannerofl Was this a Skoda main dealer that contacted you rather than Skoda UK? Is this what they say without even having seen the car or had it plugged in? Good luck.

Dry or wet age? Old question
Very very very few issues with 1.0 TSI,s,90-113/115 ps. Not bad with 1.2 or 1.4 TSI 75-150 ps, Not so good with 1.8 TSI or 1.6 TDI, and as far as 1.5 TSI & 1.5 TSI ACT we are starting to find out. For the 2015 on myth of improvements try the thread in the Fabia Mk3 section. The famous DQ200 clutch slip. Upgrade software and clutches. Then with the 1.5 TSI ACT 'Poor software' to get the WLTP certification came some DQ200,s with issues, another software update, 2018 on. These might well be small numbers, VW group and Skoda want it to be 'Internet / Social Media over blown. Tough titty if you get landed with one. Reversing a 1.6 TDI CR with DQ200 DSG on a Octavia / Superb is where people report issues sometimes. Bigger car to move though back up a slope than a Fabia or Kamiq / Scala. 1.4 TDI / 1.6 TDI, 1.0. 1.2. 1.5 TSI ACT. There is a reason for 200-e DSG,s with Mild Hybrids, VW Group / Skoda have no improved DSG,s for small cars / engines so for the US or Australia and other world regions you can get a 1.4 TSI with an 8 speed Torque Converter Auto.

Dry or wet age? Old question
@SurreyJohn Sadly the lack of issues since 2018 with DQ200 DSG,s is coming to an end, even from 2019/20. First reports seem to be with 1.,6TDI,s with them There are obviously the odd 1.5 TSI as well, but then nothing is 100% Bullet Proof. One from last week. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/520962-kamiq-tdi-dsg-clutch-slip The Mk2 Fabia vRS Twinchargers and other Twinchargers had a high percentage of DQ200 issues, but were / are not huge numbers of these, There are lots of 1.6TDI with DSG,s and the failure rate was pre 2015 and even 2015-2018 was too high, and if you have one now from 2020 then we do not know how they are going to be at 5 years and older until they get to that age. the DQ381 growing reports of issues with the MCU,s seem to be something VW Group are still trying to ignore as more and more fail

@Lady ElanoreIs the 3008 on Michelin Primacy 4,s?

How safe to buy are used fleet PHEVs?
Welcome. Are they are really really good price? Maybe not charged with that cable but charged on a charger with cables. No idea about them, but what about the warranty, or buying an extended warranty. Is the servicing to Manufactures Guidelines, recommendations, schedule, fixed Oil & Filter changes so that you can get an Extended Warranty? the truth about electric cars
I wore my way quickly through tyres on a Citroen Saxo 1.4 16V 75 bhp auto & a Kia Picanto 1.1 68bhp Auto. Only the drivers side tyres though. Low annual mileage cars and the tyres / wheels were changed when taken to Autotest events so that was not where they got the wear.
-
the truth about electric cars
No reason for excessive wear in the UK either is there when driven normally, or more than similar powered cars AWD or RWD or FWD with he same power but a bit lighter. But then there are lots of Performance Tyres with not lots of Tread Depth from new. (Octavia / Superb section and those there might say they get 30,000 miles plus and others not 12,000 miles out of tyres. Looks often like possible down to driver, or alignment, maybe how they set or check tyre pressures. Usually how driven though...) Use a M3 say like you use a RWD Tesla and is there much difference in tyre wear, or a keeping to the same manufacturers, a Porsche Taycan compared to a Porsche Panamera. I imagine @Lady Elanore gets value from her tyre life but does not hang about. She can maybe comment on her rear wheel drivers and tyres.

When you find a way of turning the ESP off with the factory controls please report here how to. Not Traction Control or Anti Slip Regulation, TC / ASR but the actual ESP.

the truth about electric cars
Not not a national 55 mph speed limit. There are 55 mph limits. Max speeds interstate highways 70 mph. min 45 mph. 4 lane highways 65 mph. I do not know how they drive without roundabouts, or how they might flooring them. Then we have this weather thing. Maybe Arizona and the sunniest place on earth, or just warmer roads and different road surfaces. As to General Build Quality i have no idea about Merican built ones or German or Chinese and which years things start improving. Actually i know little about anything or anything Tesla. All i do try to find out is really about UK ones and how they perform or the Dealers and traders deal with them and also their maintenance. Personally i will not be going to the USA and if i did it would not be a Tesla i would be wanting to drive, or any EV.

My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
3.3 miles kW/h into the hills and 3.8 miles kW/h back. 0*oC-3*oC max temp and 35 mph average speed. 16" rims and 195/55 R 16 Maxxis Ap3 all seasons totally the right choice for me. Smooth running and good handling, and horrible horrible road surfaces all about.

the truth about electric cars
Please if you are addressing Tesla tyre wear as far as the UK then get the info on that with Tesla in the UK for UK roads, 60 mph NSL,s and 70 mph Dual Carriageway & Motorways. The noise and quality of the ride might well be an issue, but best get that opinion or experience from those driving UK roads. As to the vids they might be relevant where those drivers are and for drives here. It will be drivers here that can comment. The rears of AWD VW Group EV,s also an issue.

the truth about electric cars
@Graham Butcher Is that it then, it is not possible in the UK to get 1 kWh of power from the Solar and the roof of that car? I am pretty sure your guessing will be wrong.
-
the truth about electric cars
Well if i can get 6 miles a kWh on the way down from the Lecht i will be OK if able to get 1 kWh into the battery a day, or an average of that. No chance of getting any solar charging today though.
-
the truth about electric cars
I know nothing about solar and the panel on the roof of the car, but if I was to want 1,500 miles in a year and I get 3 miles a kWh so need 500 kWh so less than 10 kWh a week how many hours of sunlight does it need in a week? PS. Now if the car is not jacked up 2 storey high but just parked up a hill beside the wind turbines and solar farm at maybe 2,000 feet above sea level, not in London obviously then going 15 miles or more down hill I might get 6 miles to a kWh. Does that mean I only need 5kWh of a charge into the battery a week?

the truth about electric cars
@Graham Butcher You are not a silly person and you typed the words 'you still stand by what they say about claiming it can produce up to 1,500 free miles a year'. You guess that is not going to happen in the UK then. I went and read what the bumf said regarding the roof. i see "Up to 1,500 EMISSIONS FREE miles", that is the same as at no cost to the owner i suppose, Emission free and cash money zero. So they claim and you guess. There lays the issue, you will never know but someone that gets one might find out. As to your building thing, shade etc, there will be people that do live in the countryside with open skies and and gain from the south facing aspect. If that is their claim then that is that, like the 'claims that some PHEV,s can get as high as 200 mpg. Go down hill often enough and keep charging the car and the engine not firing up and some maybe have done that, it keeps being claimed and has be for many years.

the truth about electric cars
I reckon since people have gone to the bother of investing and building solar farms like the 1 a mile from me and the 2 more with applications for 1.5 miles away there is sun often enough.
