Skoda Fabia VRS mk2 CAVE engine rebuild advice
What a shame. Not even basic checks done. First it was sitting with what ever petrol in. Then the spark plugs. So do you have the plugs. Main dealer diagnostics have been the trouble for 13 years now with twincharger Engines. Ps I bought cars rejected and bought back by VW. They needed the right spark plugs, a remap and 5w 40 fs and super unleaded and not the breather mods 1 or 2, or their software update or squirters. Then needed used and not rebuilds. Obviously there are Shagged ones, but that is often because the simple issues were not dealt with correctly.

Turning auto door lock off
Every car should have these in the front door pockets, both sides, along with the Hi-viz vests. EU & UK should legislate, as with the safety features they bring in that are supposed to work but can be dangerous because the manufacturers never actually sorted them out before having them as a standard feature from the factory build.

@Yaseen97What is the back story. Was it running when you got it and you were driving it then got misfires or into limp mode? How many miles were you driving before any issue? So what did these engine builders that recognised it straight away as cracked pistons do? Did the have all 4 spark plugs out, was a borescope used then they did the compression check? Did it get run after that? ? Where did you start, did you have the 4 spark plugs to inspect in order? Did you then drain the oil and remove the oil filter and drain the coolant?- DSG & autohold/handbrake
@croquemonsieuris that a 1.0TSI rather than a 1.5 TSI. Both have DQ200's if FWD but they are not going to behave the same when you push the accelerator just as a 1.6 TDI will not, then a 1.5 TSI AWD or a 2.0 TSI or TDI are different again. The common factor is 2 pedals and 7 gears.- Hot Hatch /SUVs what's your choice
- 0 - 60 mph figures
@Choclab Stated figures count for nothing, but you have the car so you can try real world' just not time accurately. Different settings, then in D or in S or even into Manual 1st and floor it and see if the DSG changes up because you are not shifting. That is the quickest way i did 1/4 mile sprints with a DQ200 DSG. But holding the car on a Hand Brake not the brake pedal. & with hand brake not an e-Brake.- Quiet tyres for 2023 Octavia VRs
@Emma111Welcome. Did you check the tyre pressures as the car was handed over and adjust them? Worth trying to see if changing the pressure up or down to suit the load carried / use makes any difference. Then reset the TPMS.- 1.5tsi limp mode

They will not employ actual detailers to prep a 'Used or even new car' & apply the product that cost them very little. It is their valeters / cleaners or contractor. Get any money back that you paid them for this 'special product' that you got as part of the deal but you actually paid for as they have the 'cost' on their costs before sale when paying tax on profits. I used to prep cars for sales using the products that cost under £30 and were under an hours labour and were showing as £300 plus.- 1.5tsi limp mode
You will need to have it checked for any fault codes logged like 'Misfires'. So they will be doing that, and checking the spark plugs hopefully. and replacing them if not already replaced. ? So with the FSH, Had the spark plugs been replaced already? The Guidelines, recommendation, schedule is at 4 years / 40,000 miles.- Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
The bigger battery now and a bit more power. Still the shiny black plastic inside and now the little gear selector has no appeal for me. Then likely no improvement with the suspension or brake components. I will give one a try sometime. Not likely to be when the one i still have is in for it's next Recall job replacing the AC compressor and getting a MOT. I will have to put the original crap tyres back on before i hand it back and it goes to auction. That will be another issue with the new ones, tyres to give range, not traction. I need to watch with sound off and subtitles, she sounds like Formula-e to me.- Skoda Fabia VRS mk2 CAVE engine rebuild advice
@Yaseen97 lets see if @Crashercan give you some advice. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/511109-skoda-fabia-vrs-cave-interference-or-not/page/2- Disabling coasting function in facelift DSG cars
@26DIPP You can go into 'Neutral' by putting the DSG into N. It might well coast in N but it will not be in 'Coasting' ready to be in gear when you touch the accelerator or brake pedal.- Skoda Fabia VRS mk2 CAVE engine rebuild advice
Are you even sure it has the original engine in now? There were only a few early 2010's and members here had them. Some got rebuilt engines / short units, and others replacement base engines and some might still be running the original. ? Do you want to put up the Registration Number? Maybe the past owner is here.- Skoda Fabia VRS mk2 CAVE engine rebuild advice
Welcome to the forum. @Mickmartin, @thomasaspinor others might assist you. I do not get my hands dirty, i do bodywork / painting my mate does my engines or another gearboxes. PS I see a 2010 vRS i had was on 85,000 miles so you do not have that one. It had a good rebuilt engine put in it before it was sold on and the very good tuned engine removed.- Advice required
@PenpusherThe issue is that the range for Adblue stops dropping by the likes of 500 miles a time and when you fill with Adblue the range gets better as the miles go on the car, then eventually Regens get more frequent and Adblue is sipped and the clogged DPF starts showing and takes longer and longer to clear. Well with some, the last of the great defeat device Euro 6 TDI's. After 2015 / 16.- Kodiaq under bonnet sound absorber
@PeterGu & who actually provided that action for Skoda UK Customer Services or SEAT, VW or Audi. It is the mickey muppet road show crowd who can be anyplace any time on their keyboard.- Kodiaq under bonnet sound absorber
@PeterGuWhat a bunch of BS from them. VW / Skoda UK knows where the 'advance covers' are and who makes them as they are being fitted to people vehicles now. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/506861-20-tsi-engine-cover I take it this crowd are who gave that reply.- 0 - 60 mph figures
This use of official figures published by manufacturers and in media packs and then journalists just repeat is how things are and then it sticks for years, even when there are typo's or mixing up speeds. Happening lots with EV's and Stellantis do it. Quoted 0-60 mph / seconds and then 0-62 mph and some are just silly differences. Actually some times are quoted that must be in D which is producing less power than is S and more than in Eco. They say you get full power in S (136 ps) D is 110 & eco 80 ps. But really the acceleration times are not the same if you do floor them in the different modes. This is much the same with Mild Hybrids and PHEV's. Too many motoring journalist pick up cars, do not take them to a weigh bridge or put on corner weights or even know what fuel the 'Media team' filled them with. There are cars at launches where journalists get lovely lunches and full bed and board that no way are the cars running standard ENGINE MANAGEMENT. Continental cars might well be filled with 100 ron / 100 + ron from filling stations. (Or the tanker they have not far away.) Not many journalists / vloggers plug into the OBD or the likes. (& the Media Team can be tracking them, and sometimes the OBD is capped.) These were oil burners unless the cars were warmed up before the Guests took them out and booted them. 7 years ago.- EV used car prices plummeting ,what's your experience?
The EV's that are going to be FLOODING the trade are Fleet/ Lease / Motability vehicles. That is a whole different game of financing / losses / gains / HMRC kidology. The manufacturers need the electrified vehicles First Registered to be sure of getting the Co2 emission averages where they need to stop being fined for all vehicles sold. So partnering with other manufacturers to allow the higher polluters to be sold. http://fleetnews.co.uk/news/latest-fleet-news/electric-fleet-news/2023/05/16/used-electric-vehicles-available-at-half-price-of-new-ev http://fleetnews.co.uk/news/latest-fleet-news/opinion/2023/04/27/why-falling-values-are-such-bad-news-for-fleets- 0 - 60 mph figures
Putting the DSG shifter to 'S' makes a difference though. That holds it to a higher RPM before shifting up, which can improve acceleration, especially to only 62 mph / 100 kph. (0-60 mph is an odd speed for Mericans.) *It is amazing how long that extra 2 mph can take to reach. Matt is always mis-quoting 0-60 or 0-62.) Then if you have good tyres on and traction / grip you could put TC / ASR off and maybe go quicker because if there was wheel spin normally the power can get cut. Fat car, 150 ps / MINIMUM, DSG, (a 1.4 TSI though) and not ideal road surface. In the UK with 95 ron you are never more than 3,000 ft above sea level and not in extreme heat, so the car should produce the BHP / Nm you pay for as a minimum, not a Maximum. Ideal conditions. Use 99 ron min super unleaded and maybe even more Ooomph. I do not always have a V-box with me but i have DRAGY in my pocket and usually time cars i am driving, or that i am a passenger in.- “Hiccup” starting from rest - 2015 1.2tsi engine.
@LetsGowas there any service history with the car showing stuff actually done other than Oil & Inspection Services? The car is due a Cam Belt change. Many will not consider doing it at 5 years, but at 8 years it certainly is worth discussing getting done.- Fuel Leak - Sheared Bolts on Injector Rail
The issue is very much known by the VW Group / Skoda. It seems to not have much happening with the DVSA / DfT in the UK. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/468348-fuel-leak http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505171-fuel-leaks http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/495523-major-fuel-leak-due-to-bolts-sheared-on-fuel-injector-rail-assembly http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/486004-fuel-leak-from-injector-rail- Skoda octavia vrs 245 remap
