How to hold the false floor in the boot up
Choclab replied to skoda_disconnect's topic in Skoda Karoq
I still haven’t been able to remove it - think it’s been glued into place. Just too frightened of it breaking, to give it a good whack to shift it🙄 -

How to hold the false floor in the boot up

Smart! Just need a similar device on mine, with solid parcel shelf instead of retractable soft shelf.☹️ -
My last three cars have all had the false boot floor, and all reacted noisily to speed humps and humpback bridges. Also reacts on some of the worse potholed roads, as well. Tried a thin layer of foam rubber, under the board where it touches at the edges, which at least quietens the thump.

Fitted paddle extenders to my Scooby XV, and they greatly improved their feel. Plenty of hills in my neck of the woods (and speed cameras and mobiles), so find the paddles most useful.

After 7 months, my Karoq has developed a vibration. It is only noticeable when pulling away, and stops when over 5mph. Being deaf in left ear, I can’t place it, but passengers say it is on my side of the car. Have emptied all cubby holes, but still there. I expect something has been disturbed, following a hit on a pothole.☹️ At least I can drown it out with some loud music.

When I bought my Octavia, I had a £12k trade in, but only £6k allowed as deposit. Anyone taking deal, and unable to pay off immediately, ended up paying a lot of money in final figure (but I did drive out with £6k in my pocket. With the Karoq, going the HP route, all of my trade in value went as deposit, so less to pay back overall, and so less interest paid. So many go the PCP route, but don’t realise how much it will cost in the long term.

I recall that a German owner of the VW “clone” of the Karoq had blinged his car to the rafters, with both internal and external bolt on goodies. They seem quite keen on doing stuff like that to their cars. A bit like the AMG body mods for Mercs. Might be worth Googling VW body kits, and take it from there.

Seduced by two free services, I went for two years hire purchase, totally forgetting I have to pay half the loan before I can pay off the outstanding. Always had pcp finance, and paid off early, so a bit annoyed with myself. Still, roll on September.

Sorted! Like you said, some areas turned off, so hit all areas and we have full ambient lighting.😀
-
Only changed the colour, but will have another look to see if any parts can be set to go off when engine switched on.
-
Noticed that the ambient lighting, in my Sportline, is all round on getting in car, but the sections behind the steering wheel (either side of steering column cowl), go off when I start the engine. Seems a bit odd to fit them, and then have them go off. Any thoughts?
-
Are you using the Stop/Start? Both my Karoq and Octavia tend to switch off the engine when almost stopped (1.5 tsi with DSG). Have you tried driving with Stop/Start disabled?

It is balanced by the chrome exhaust trim on the back, I suppose. I know on some of my previous cars forum members have plastic dipped badges and trim, so may be an option, but may not work with the cameo style front badge. It may end up looking like a Vauxhall badge, and that would never do!

Near me is a dual carriageway, with a sharp bend to the left. Being in town, it is 40mph limit, with chevron signs on centre island to remind drivers where to go (some fail!). My radar picks up one of these signs, as it does appear to be ahead, but a second or less before following the turn. Frightened the life out of me, first time it did it, when in the Octavia, but the Karoq ignores it!

Bridgestone Desert Duellers, on my old Lada Niva, were as good in snow as in sand. Having an easy run round the old West Wycombe off road course, but cooling off after rescuing a LR!
