Windscreen Wiper Streaks! HELP!
By all means use the AC, but even brand new cars can have the blue greasy haze on the inside that you get from the AC, or the chemicals coming out the plastics, and even reacting with the crap that car valeters / pre sales people clean car windscreens with. Damn hard to clean on some cars where there are screens far forward and reappears regularly.

Reduced emissions on 2021 2.0 TDI - making it a lot cheaper
@MrTrilby Please quote & post the whole bit and not 1 line from what i posted. No actually to answer your question, good ones are good ones and not the crap that some of them are, but if we are talking Euro 5 Emission ones we have the early 1.2 TSI, / 1.4TSI with Timing Chain Issues, the 1.4 tsi Twinchargers with more than 20% failures, (They were in various SEAT, Skoda, VW & Audis globally. then the 1.8 & 2.0 tsi's that need engine rebuilds or replaced engines. If we come up to date and rhe latest 1.5TSI EVO's, then VW Group are still co-cking them up, then there are recalls on 1.0TSI's for Injector issues. Lets see how the GPF's get on because already some have issues. or we have the TDI's with Water Pumps, glow plug, injectors, DPF but not Adblue issues really in Euro 5 other than VW Group cheating SCR with a Defeat Device. Best ask VW Group if they want to say which were the greater lemons they designed and manufactured. Vorsprung Durch Technik, Give them a few decades and they will get them right, or discontinue ICE Passenger cars and go EV. Or like Robert the Bruce's spider, try try and try again. also hope people think other people only moan when they have an issue. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/266114-18tsi-and-20tsi-engine-failures http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/358101-vrs-mk-ii-14-litre-twincharger-oil-consumption-issues http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/344005-12tsi-cam-chain-problems

Haldex pump failure
If you wanted you can change it and the bolts and 'O' rings, or as the Specialist is likely to do which is clean it.

DSG Gearbox
FWD 1.2 or 1.6TDI CR's (under 150ps) will have a DQ200 7 speed DSG (Twin Dry Clutch) that does not have Service Schedules / Guidelines for Oil changes. It has 2 oils, box and MCU. The 6 speed Wet Clutch DSG's used in the AWD's or Yeti's over 110 ps in a Yeti ( 150ps) (192ps) in other models, need Oil changes. They have just the one oil.

What is it with dealers and their inability to set servicing schedules?
They should not be resetting service indicators without servicing. If they messed up last time they can foot the bill on the extra service and then in a year reset the car to what you want it at. No Main Dealer in the UK should be using anything other than long life oil for fixed or variable servicing unless a customer asked them to and have car on fixed servicing. Even then many will decline your request to have VW 502 00 used rather than VW504 00 / 507 00 or VW508 00 / 509 00. Services might seem like just Oil / Filter services, but at least an annual service should have your car getting a visual inspection and report which is good if you are not doing the checks.

Adblue warning message?
Cycle through the various available screens and there should be an AdBlue range one there. The Owners Manual can be handy to give a guide on how to do stuff.

EV sub £30k comparison group tests.
Loads of threads already here to cover most eventualities or interests re EV's. Oddly still no 30k to 40k one... http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/465633-ev-your-choice-£40k-to-£90k/page/3 These at the crazy £32,000 plus even after the £3,000 grant are getting flogged for asking prices of £25,000 now. You are sitting on the batteries as they are under the seat and you are still sitting low in the front. Fuel flap is not locked and people open it when parked, maybe to see if it is an electric car.

2 cylinder mode
Only with the lemons, it is not a design feature or characteristic that the VW engineers aimed for.

Reduced emissions on 2021 2.0 TDI - making it a lot cheaper
Maybe just google it, or maybe look through Briskoda sections as there seem to be plenty that drive Skoda's.

Reduced emissions on 2021 2.0 TDI - making it a lot cheaper
A good TSI is no more reliable than a good TDI. So VW Group built plenty Euro 5 TSI's of various CC's that were Lemons. And VW Group had Euro 5's with Defeat Devices and never seem to get Water Pumps up to the job of the reliability the TDI engine has. So now for 2020 / 2021 VW Group / Skoda should have good reliable when serviced properly engines. The GPF's with VW engines obviously need to get to 5 years or older till we see how that goes. So the facts are that if everything in the World was reliable as VW Engines the world would be as it is now with Covid 19. Time will tell how the TSI's & TDI's that VW engineered & built for the WLTP & RDE2 emissions needed will be once out of Warranty or even in Warranty.

Reduced emissions on 2021 2.0 TDI - making it a lot cheaper
Fuel saving / economy can go out the window for some with a TDI used in low ambient temps and on short jaunts where the engine oil might never be getting near the 80's Degree C time after time. Then there is the fuel used when you are having regens because after all the WLTP regime never has the test vehicles doing regens....

What is it with dealers and their inability to set servicing schedules?
Fixed service settings showing 372 days / 9,400 miles is quite usual. (1 year and a week.) As from being reset at the PDI from Variable / Flexible as the car arrived when in 'Transit Mode' then put on Fixed Servicing. As it is there should not Be Oil Services showing and also Inspection Services, that is the crap VW Group / Skoda have on there. There are Oil Services & Inspection / Maintenance Servicing being done on one visit be that Fixed or Variable Servicing intervals.

Reduced emissions on 2021 2.0 TDI - making it a lot cheaper
@shyVRS245 My FWD 2.0TDI SCR DSG 2016 SEAT Alhambra which was i thought the last of the great VW Group cheaters could easily do 630 miles with a 63 litre tank and using 'Coasting function' do the same journeys and get 730 miles plus. EDIT, that was with passengers and luggage. I am looking forward to what you get with your new car.

@Quodiaq Since the saving you post is in the GBP can i assume you live in the UK? Lower under the WLTP regime, no idea if truly lower if you put people and stuff in the car and drive on real roads in real weather, maybe with roof bars and a caravan behind.

Dirt Marks after Rain below Driver Door handle
Maybe the handles are lubed a bit which is a good thing IMO. I spray Silicone Spray under door handles and Filler Flaps and on Door Hatch Seals in preparation for Winter days and nights to inhibit freezing. Then if there are streaks i clean them and have the paintwork polished and waxed so that cleaning is easy and the paint has protection.

Windscreen Wiper Streaks! HELP!
Sadly car glass is not harder than bird poo or the grit in it. I replaced glass on a Pole Dancers BMW, all the glass, but then she was extra stupid on how she used the steel wool. Plastic Skoda Ice Scrapers can be harder than glass, or just the grit caught in the ice is. Before cleaning off bird crap lay a wet teabag on it, then flush off with H2o if you can. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/486131-small-scratches-on-windscreen-skoda-yeti

Metatronic replacement
The ones with any brain would go out with another Tech / Fitter or just the tea / boy girl in another motor / recovery truck. Or at least a reliable motor, maybe a South Korean / Japanese one. It is just as well that Skoda are soon only going to have e-DQ200 DSG's in 1.0 & 1.5TSI's Electric & Water & VW Group, what is the worst that can happen? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/437937-advice-needed-faulty-gearbox-or-just-mechatronic-unit

Metatronic replacement
Mechatronic Control Unit. Stuff taking it on the Motorway at 70 MPH to diagnose the problem. Total bampots. With the world wide recall on DQ200's in 2012 & the Service Campaign iin Europe / UK n 2014 '34F7' for the total loss of Drive, VW UK persuaded the VOSA/ DVLA that it was not Safety Critical and did not need a UK Recall as you could ' Coast to a place of safety'. FT for a game of soldiers when you lose drive on a middle or outside lane maybe uphill with HGV's on your inside lane or up your jacksy. Brown Leather Interiors were acceptable for some that had a DQ200 fail on them on a motorway or just on any road.

Windscreen Wiper Streaks! HELP!
^^^ I have seen that been done and gone so wrong. Never assume people have the common sense they were born with. Some UK Winter products that help things along. Then prepping the Fuel Filler Flap, door & hatch seals against freezing closed is Simply Clever

EV sub £30k comparison group tests.
@Luckypants If you are just in and out the vehicle in the damp weather with damp or wet clothes and just doing short distances between stops like no more than a mile between them the AC on dries out nothing, same as it has always been with vehicles. If you leave someone in the car that can be trusted to touch nothing like the gear shifter then the car can be left at on with heating / cooling / AC / Heated seats or what ever on and the car is not sitting idling. PS You can book a Hotel / Motel with EV Chargers and get there and some Trades Person has their non electric works van parked in one, or more people have parked and are there before you and do not move from the space and are still there in the morning when you are going. The staff might do nothing and some will not even have the Customers Reg Number if they are a Customer. eg. Premier Inns...... If you are there there are chargers near you can go to. Just not the Forth Crossing Visitor Centre chargers, unless finally they are operating. Looks like not then, and this is a place they really are needed for those on long journeys North / South where people need Rapid Chargers. Thank goodness for the likes of Kinross Park & Ride. If passing through Perth or Dundee the EV charging has been taken seriously.

EV sub £30k comparison group tests.
Not too much of an issue charging at home and plugged in and heating (drying out). And airing the car or even on a charger, but today is damp here and I am going shop to shop and in and out the car for short hops, so windows down a bit as and heated seat on and steering wheel and the car will need aired inside later. If you have long rainy days that needs considered. Luckily full heat on in my car has it roasting in minutes.

He maybe does not know Mazda but he will know about Fords of old and Ford / Mazda co-operation which finished in 2015. Mazda got on with doing an EV and getting to market quite likely because not held back by ford. Note the Steaming up side windows very much still an issue with many EV's as it has been for a long time with ICE vehicles. He forgot to switch it on, but even when some are on in ECO they are not great. 'Use your mirrors and drive with Due Care & attention and you would notice something was up.' They really do need efficient de-misting / AC that does not need to be off to get any usable range between charging points. Then when you are at charging points and sitting in the car you might well want Wind Deflectors so the car is not steaming up if not using AC while charging and it is raining, A damp interior with a parked up EV not plugged in or heating while it gets icy is going to be having jack frost interior windows that need defrosting and then drying off as frosty days and nights happen maybe day after day.

Or just clean the windscreen and other windows with vinegar and rub over with scrunched up newspaper (not your fish and chip wrapping) if as tight as a Scottish person and then Rain X or similar, Clear Screen etc.

Dacia Spring Electric
For Urban Driving so basically a city car it is all that many need or want. Undercutting a Smart for 2 & a Smart for 4. If people just want to drive to the shops and other places and usually have a 2nd or 3rd car in their household it could be ideal. Perfect for Couriers, Fast Food Deliveries, Tradespeople etc in low emission zones and just private individuals travelling in them. They will be perfect for Car Club / Car Share / Hires to pick up and travel and leave like to and from airports and travel hubs. If Renault want Dacia EV's that are bigger and heavier with more power and range they can easily produce them. Horses for courses and if there is a market build vehicles for that market if the other segments are all ready being provided for.... It shows as taking a CCS charger. Smart EQ2020 Not really suitable to be used as an Ambulance or Hearse unless for animals, or as a Camper Van.
