  1. He has wellies, and maybe already has Dubarry's. If not then that is the way to go.
  2. @Lady Elanore You can take the Loon out of Forfar but not Forfar out of the Loon. He needs boots for going to the dancing.
  3. @Aspman Enjoy. I will be doffing my cap and giving the traditional wave.
  4. I used them just because they helped with hitting pot holes, or as i thought and think, saves me replacing as many wrecked tyres. The sidewalls of various All Season & Winter tyres are pretty prone to damage / bulges IME. That is from me or people driving my cars hitting them and various things like ironworks on roads, or hiiting the 'Ramp' / Steel cover or cut tar at roadworks on an edge. Maxxis AP2 which is reinforced and still got an egg. Not always my wrecked tyres were 'Driver error'.
  5. Not a comparison on costs annually of a EV vs ICE vehicle. What i know is that for me doing journeys of any length in Scotland i am paying nothing to charge the EV as using free charging places, but for every 150 miles travelled if journeys are meaning charging will be required on route i now allow an extra hour minimum per 150 miles travelled. That means if in a hurry to get someplace as in no time to waste sitting getting energy in to the car, so over say 180 miles i will not go in my EV and just pay for the petrol or diesel. The other thing is i will not drive a EV if there is adverse weather such as heavy rain and flood risks or snow & snow gates shutting so the chance of routes closing like the A83, A93, A939 or B974 meaning long diversions and the chance of convenient rapid chargers not being available even if paying for them. As it is Mobile Phone and radio reception is not reliable Scotland Wide let alone the EV Charging, and getting chargers to start. You might well need to call a 'Call Handler' to get chargers started. https://www.zap-map.com/tools/journey-cost-calculator
  6. Waiting in anticipation of the news on what the new addition to @Aspman's fleet is.
  7. Basically if Skoda's top of the range Superb that might be used as a Taxi or Airport Transport and carry 5 people and luggage can not go at the UK NSL or a bit quicker on a road with bends and humps without the suspension bottoming out there is something very wrong. If it can not drive well at 60 mph or more with just a driver then basically it is crap. It really really does very fast at 60 mph. It gets to 60 mph really really quick. All has all the gear and the suspension options required & all you need to do is steer. (Lots of engines on offer if economy wanted, Briskoda member note...)
  8. The XL are the reinforced sidewalls which might be a good idea where you do your driving. The V are higher speed rated than the H so maybe a good idea if you drive in Continental Europe on lovely dry roads quickly. The out of stock is just that, and @Carlston will be able to explain the rest and tell you why you should buy new smaller wheels and fit narrower tyres to get tyres cheaper.
  9. This is the head wear of choice these days for Hardcore offroaders / Toyota drivers

  12. Just a quickie as the discussion can be had i one of the dozen fuel threads on the Forum. Winter Spec Diesel & Petrol is now being delivered to Fuel Stations in Scotland and will be until the end March 2021 The Haulage industry, fleet buyers, Taxis etc know what their fuel usage is as do people that buy their fuel and watch consumption. So think of last weeks weather where you drive and next weeks when you are using Winter Spec Diesel or Petrol in Scotland and Winter has not set in and a big drop in temperatures and maybe you are using the same tyres, ? Has your fuel consumption increased with the winter fuel or not, is it worse by any significant amount? I think not. Those that think that additives are added to stop waxing means that the fuel you buy then produces less energy (it is diluted) and you pay tax and duty to get the same volume of liquid but are getting less miles / km from that are badly mistaking. Some might find that if the weather last week and next week are the same and the Winter Spec fuel is now in your tank the economy improves. http://vitalequipment.co.uk/collections/carless-hiperflo

The DQ200 DSG has not long to go in the various VW Group cars. There will only be 1.0 & 1.5 TSI's with mild hybrids & a DSG. That will have them pulling away under battery power.
  14. Exactly. Bought in for the manufacture of a skoda and not manufactured by them. Nothing special about them. Then Skoda build parts like Gearboxes , DSG's / Engines that will be going in the other 3 brands without 'Skoda' on them.
  15. National Fixed Price Servicing & Maintenance is @ participating dealers. They can charge less if they want and some will. ? Are they just doing an Oil & Filter change, an Inspection & free brake check? & Report. Anything else?
  16. @Naths vRS If you are still looking in occasionally i saw this week when having a nosy at the original reg number that your car is still out there tax and tested,
  17. Dead easy to replace, not that easy to find for 'Much cheapness' though. You pull off that black plastic cover with care but some strength, and then unscrew the unit, and unplug. Replace. here you are. EDIT. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/304629-changing-the-drls-on-fabia-vrs

@edbostan 8 years is obviously a period of time and gives no idea of how many miles the vehicle will be covering, and if that is several stops and starts a day or week or month. Like is the car a daily town / city car, a commuter or a sales reps / travellers. Times being started for short trips and not getting charged back up before parked again type thing. There are drivers of cars with Stop / Start that might seldom have the car stop / start automatically, or turn it off, and others that have it operating regularly.

  20. If you take care just as you would or should at a HGV pump for diesel, slowly does it.
  21. They are not 'bump stops' they are 'Transit Blocks' to stop the car bouncing about on transporters.
