With auto hold, and stop start, I also rarely go into neutral at lights as the car switches off, but wakes up with either an input from me, or if a car in front moves. I've never really got the 'delay' comments, as once you know how to play with the DSG's options, it shouldn't be a factor. Once the lights go green or a junction/roundabout clears, I'm off like a scalded cat. Auto hold does take a bit of getting used to, but three years on, I really like it now. Gaz

Maiden voyage for the Freego Eagle today with Sally riding it and me on my Whyte Coniston. She went around the Cut De Sac first to get used to it, then we were off. The LCD display is a generic one across several bikes, and the different setting numbers P1 to P20 don't mean anything until you watch explanatory videos on YT, which were really helpful. It's only by watching a video that I could even work out how to change it from Kph to Mph. It's now clear that the bike isn't restricted (although can be), and on power level 5 I'm completely unable to keep up with Sally 🙄 We got to about 18mph and as I bogged down into the headwind, she simply sailed away, Mr Bean stylee. We'll be keeping it, whether it end up her's or mine, albeit if Sally has it she'll need another saddle as she's problems with her coccyx and the one the bike came with isn't particularly comfy for her. Yup, me too GC My happy place is out on a bike down quiet country lanes. I had an off in July 2017, and was quite cranky after a while of not being able to get out for a ride, so I think most of us can empathise. Gaz

I take this as a good sign, in that an impatient patient is one who's less focussed on the injuries and more on next steps. And I think you've the right attitude and outlook to know what you can do, and when. All good wishes for your ongoing recovery Mac Gaz

My previous vRS (2015 220 EA888 IS20) developed an odd delay in the internal heating. The silica bag was intact. The short story was that the coolant check valve had failed and was reporting open when it was actually closed. Simple enough, but took a long time to diagnose, with a lot of trial and error. I was given the go ahead to bring the car home, while the dealer awaited the part. Didn't make it home as the turbo grenaded itself. Turns out the coolant check valve also sends coolant to the turbo (but not if it's faulty!) and this was considered to be the reason for the turbo failing (I suspect other factors). There was swarf in the engine, so it needed a strip down to check if the turbo had taken the engine with it too (thankfully not). Skoda initially agreed to cover the costs as it was likely the check valve had failed during the warranty period, but then retracted this as the car had been remapped (after warranty). Long story here: My cautionary tale is that what appears a simple heating issue, can actually have fairly catastrophic consequences (which the remap may have exacerbated). For me that was a rather bitter £3,000 bill. Gaz PS: 'nuvver one; When I inherited a 1989 Mk2 Golf GTI !6v (139bhp), it had a K&N panel filter - one of the ones you had to clean and oil. I changed it for a standard paper filter, and confirmed via rolling road that the K&N, on this car, made absolutely no performance difference whatsoever.

That's me too 🥵 Temp came down to a bearable 21c, so I thought I'd go for it. Car wasn't really all that dirty, mostly dust, bird poo, spider's webs, fronds from the bottle brush shrub and bits off the Scots pine. Even then it was as much as I could muster to get just the hose and a single bucket out 🙄 Still better than taking it to a car wash IMO. Gaz
