    Hello Steve 👋 Gaz
  4. If you squint, it looks like a Rav4 : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-patrol/254718637846?hash=item3b4e69f716:g:jnMAAOSwbVNfVhg7
  5. Another vote for a Shogun here. Mate had a 2.5, which was never going to set the world alight. But as others have said, also wasn't stopped by any of the rough stuff. Or a Landcruiser/Nissan Patrol? (always fancied the latter). Earned some money back when I was young and stupid, pulling people out of floods & snow in a Hilux. That was quite a capable vehicle. Gaz

    Hello David, welcome aboard. Gaz
  8. Backdrop's rubbish, and I don't know why, but it's always this one that makes me smile: Gaz
  9. Mine's coming out as soon as the car is out of warranty (VW advised me that removing it while in warranty will void the warranty). Gaz
  10. Bad earth or strap? - simple by-pass with a jump lead to check. Faulty solenoid on the starter? Gaz

  12. Hello and welcome 👋 I drove down to northern Italy this time last year. Beautiful part of the planet 😎 Gaz
  13. Hello Sue and welcome 👋 Gaz
  14. Hello PM 👋 I went the other way, vRS to GTI (7.5 though). I did map my vRS, to around the 300bhp mark. Difference was very noticeable, but in reality I just caught up with traffic quicker and used more petrol. Was fun doing it 😎 Gaz

  16. Being back in business didn't last long. It went back to it's old tricks and ended up not firing up at all. The folks who put the new SSD in it said it was time to call it a day. Thankfully I'd managed to do a complete back up a few days before onto a Samsung T5 SSD. So off it goes to the place for dead MBP's. RIP my old friend. It's 16" replacement arrived at 1:15pm this afternoon. And is well, frankly astonishing. Upload from the backup said it was going to take an hour and five minutes, but then it started transferring the data at 350mbps and it was all over and done with in just a few minutes. The longest anything took was me going to the kitchen as I couldn't remember my payment card security number 🙄 Gaz
  17. Hello OS from SO 👋 Gaz
  18. That happens to me George, you find a smashing spot to park with a breathtaking view, and some girt great blooming lump of rock comes up and parks right next to you 🙄 Gaz
  19. Can you post a link to the advert? Sometimes we can spot things that might be helpful. As George has said, age and miles needed, before anyone can even start to comment on the price. Gaz
  20. I've got cheap ones from Tesco that are a couple of years old and still going strong. Go through the washing machine every few weeks, or if I drop them. Haven't felt the need to buy anything more expensive. They pre-date the current Simoniz ones advertised on Tesco. Closest thing to those I've got: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kent-Car-Care-Microfibre-Colours/dp/B004VE41JW/ref=asc_df_B004VE41JW/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310493449173&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7827031526432045628&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006692&hvtargid=pla-755955902072&psc=1 Gaz
  21. Possible to drill a couple of holes and secure with decent cables ties? I had radiator mounts give way on a previous car that were similar. I'd lost one side, but drilled and tapped a hole on one side, put in a bolt, that I left proud and then rounded with an angle grinder. The other side I drilled both parts filled both new cavities with JB cold weld and glued it. Both lasted the life of the car. Warrior's options sound more sensible than my suggestions though. Gaz
  22. Hello and welcome Jonty 👋 Gaz
  23. I can't be considered to be a detailer, but I like my car to be clean and shiny. Working from home for the last four months and being very cautious about contact with the outside world. It seems that I'd wash my car, and by the time I next drove it it'd be in a right state from dirty rain, bird poo, insects and spiders. It's now worse for a 200 mile round trip to Hospital, coming home at what seemed peak flying ant swarming time. Ordinarily I'd be embarrassed, but I'm not. There are bigger things going on at the moment and how pristine my car is is quite a way down the priority list. Gaz

Cheerio Scot, I'm with everyone else on this. Sorry to see you go, but get why you are 👋 Gaz
