And if they are, amongst other things it might be an idea to have a sniff test completed, to see if the engine is pressurising the cooling system. I see the current tank has 'Mit Silikat' on it. It'd be an idea to check if it has the silicate bag in it, whether it's intact (a cause of coolant system blockages if it ruptures) and get it removed. If that's coolant residue just below the mit silikat symbol, it could be a sign the coolant is coming out the tank's lid. Gaz PS: if you've not already seen them:

I have the same 230 and drive train in my 2018 Golf GTI. Mine won't try and pull away in 6th at 1000rpm (and nor did my previous 220 vRS), so maybe there is something up with your DSG's basic settings. I'd certainly look to a reset and updates, before considering a remap. Gaz

Put it in manual and you can select pretty much whatever gear/rpm ratio that you want, within reason. Gaz

Are you considering a manual or DSG? Dependent on what age car you're looking at, the 2.0 may have the six speed DQ250, whereas the 1.6 may have the seven speed DQ200. The DQ250 is generally considered to be the more robust and reliable of the two units. Irrelevent if you're going for a manual of course. Gaz

I've no reason to think this one was anything other than standard, but it went well Of their time they were often lauded to have a better mid-range than a Porsche 911. A friend has a 911, and there was definitely something to the accolade. Very addictive, but with a thirst to match - mine averaged 21mpg, not that I bought it for economy 😇 Gaz

Hello SU35 That's exactly what I did, although ten years before you in 2012. Went from a HOT 9-5 Aero to a V6TDI Mk1 Superb. I went to see it with my Dad, and said to him 'This is it'! Hello h4r7y Don't assume a service will pick up 'anything major' - it may well not. The mileage in itself is not a concern. These engines can easily do several times that, if looked after properly. Get the registration number and check it's MOT history: https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history Perhaps an insurance/HPI check as well? Are you confident in checking a car over - bodywork and mechanicals, tyres, brakes, exhaust and suspension? If not take someone with you who is. Ask the current owner for details of any repairs, and any known faults. I personally wouldn't buy it with two months MOT, unless it's clearly a not-to-be-missed bargain. No, they're not. Certain measurements need to be an exact match, or within a very fine tolerance. The PCD (Pitched Circle Diameter) is the circle taking the centre point of the five bolt holes. VAG differ, although common sizes are 112mm and 110mm. The Centre bore is the hole in the middle of the wheel. VAG again vary, as will Hyundai. Too large a centre bore can sometimes be adapted with the aid of a spigot ring. Too small and it simply might not fit. The offset is the distance from where the wheel sits against the hub to how far in or out the wheel sits. Perhaps not so critical on a space saver, but too far in and it will rub on the suspension, and too far out and it'll rub on the wheel arch. Neither are okay. If you can get the measurements, there are various websites you can check if it'll fit, or not as the case may be. Gaz
