  1. I'm going to be a pendantic 'person' here: DLR = Docklands Light Railway. DRL = Daytime Running Lights. (Or lamps). I do know that for certain LED headlamps within VW AG, they made sure dealers could repair them with repair kits and training. No idea if that's still the case.
  2. Do they not also indicate which belts are fastened or not? So that you know if the rear seat passengers have fastened their belt?
  3. First thing to try is as said, make sure the maps are the latest. If not update them. The issue is it's not a fault as such, just that the information in the database hasn't caught up. That will always be an issue, for example a limit near us changed the middle of last week so there's no chance the change will be even in the most up to date database.
  4. You can see the bulb check happening on the instruments. It's turning on and almost straight off. So most likely the start stop switch is faulty.
  5. But again, while someone, somewhere in the organisation would for sure be able to respond, it still involves someones time somewhere and therefore money (time is ALWAYS money). So there is a difference between able to respond, and willing to do it, especially for nothing. The 'experts at Skoda HQ' have plenty to do already. On the other hand, a forum like this is the place where you might get the answer. I don't have this information for Kodis but maybe somebody here does. I have current flow diagrams for older models (up to about 2012) and have looked up the info for people. Even then it can take half an hour or more just to research, and is information that I had to pay to obtain, though it's info that I can still get at. No issue with you asking for help, but I don't agree with your opinion on the support from SUK and dealers.
  6. It depends on what they mean by 'the latest diagnostics'. There are many systems, most are generic diagnostics to work across lots of models, and most of these can't do the specific jobs like this however up to date they are. There are a couple of other ways. There is an independent but VAG specific tool called VCDS. I don't know if this can support doing this on the Kodi, but I used it when fitting the towbar on my 2012 Superb. The other possibility is that some independent garages do have the same diagnostic kit as the main dealers, and pay to get access to the same databases as the dealers so can do exactly the same work. And yes, fog has been on the 7 pin electrics for over 30 years. The same pin was used years before for a permanent battery feed which gave some problems when things wired to the later standard were plugged into vehicles with the new version.
  7. What is and isn't fed from Kl15 and Kl30 will not be obvious. Just because something is only active when the ignition is on, doesn't mean it has a Kl15 supply. If it's CAN or LIN node then it might well be Kl30 fed and shut down via bus signals. I have come across accessory power sockets that are switched, but don't switch off straight away that ignition is switched off. So they leave power on for a while (I never found out how long) but do switch off after a while just in case you left something plugged in and went on holiday. It's possible they even use the battery condition monitor to work it out. I can see that a 230v inverter might use a similar strategy and keep running for a short time, depending whether there's a load plugged in or not. If I'm honest, I wouldn't expect anyone to hold the kind of information you are after in their head. The current flow diagrams are extremely complex (actually to my mind also very difficult to follow too). And different for every model. For the most part a technician wouldn't need to refer to them either. So essentially in order to answer your question, they need to go and search through to find the right part of the current flow diagram and spend the time to understand it and find the answers. Have you offered to pay them for this? The paid for service to get your own access to these diagrams has been offered, why are you not prepared to pay for that?
  8. At a guess, trapped wires shorting out the squib. If you decide to investigate yourself, be careful how you do it. If done incorrectly you might get false readings or worst still trigger a bag accidentally.
  9. It starts to sound like the car thinks you are pressing the button twice. Switching it on and then straight off. Could be that the switch has become a bit intermittent, and your one press is actually registering as two? If it was not finding the key fob, it would ping and show 'key not found'. My 2012 Superb had an issue with the switch, when if really hot it didn't work unless you pressed really hard (or waited for it to cool down).
  10. I asked about the situation, because I know that unlocking the car with the keyblade in the lock doen't turn off the alarm (fully). That could have explained the issue.
  11. A question. How did you unlock the car, to change the battery. Did it unlock OK from the key fob, or did you have to unlock it manually (key in the lock)?
  12. There are many possibilities, especially in this hot weather, if you have the air conditioning on, and the car decides the interior isn't cool enough for example. I would expect if there was a problem that was causing it, you would have the engine warning lamp on.
  13. Well I'm sure you could. And I'm sure I could. But I didn't, that was not reset for the whole 50 mile journey, which I said. No maxidot doesn't show the miles, I don't know of one that does show both values at once. I suppose I could have photographed the main screen, but TBF having just arrived at work and simply being impressed with the numbers, I wasn't thinking that three years later someone on an internet forum would be calling me out. Be skeptical it's your privilege, no skin off my nose. For a good portion of the motorway part it was M42 with the smart motorway restricting me to 50, so the figure was looking pretty good. So for the M40 part, I set the cruise to 56 (90 kph) as it tends to be where fuel efficiency is best, because it's the speed the official tests are done at (or one of them). You can be skeptical about that, too, I might have set it to that at the same point I might have reset the trip. Except I didn't. In terms of how the display compares to real world, I can't say as ICBA to keep track of exactly how much fuel goes in and the miles I do. But the OP was showing trip computer info, and that's all I'm showing. At the end of the day, this thread is only a bit of fun isn't it? I wonder how accurate my V6 vehicle is when it does max 27MPG according to the trip? Could be under 20 MPG, scary, but then it hasn't been filled in 3 years!
  14. I got this after a 50 mile mixed roads journey. Part A roads, part motorway.
  15. There are spacesavers, and there are spacesavers. Some are special thin but very high pressure tyres. Others are just an ordinary wheel and tyre, but not os the spec for your car, but maybe for a lower model. Either way there is a speed limit when one is fitted either because the first type is so thin it is risky in it's own right, or for the second type the mismatch presents a risk. All the spacesavers I've had are the second type (Superb and 3x Furbies), perfectly OK wheel and tyre for the car, but limited when mixed with the standard wheels and tyres.
  16. One thing to bear in mind, at some point the diesel was dropped. Certainly you coudn't get a 2018 diesel in any flavour. But you have to be prepared to travel if you are being picky, like I was.
  17. The keyless ignition does have a workaround for this. If you take the fob and use it to press the switch, there's a coil around the switch that can wirelessly power the key up to get you going. Instructions will be in the manual, but of couse most people don't know about this so wouldn't know to look. 2.9v is well low. When new they tend to be around 3.2v and stay above 3.0v. Ours went low recently, but we got a warning on the dash. On a previous car (Superb, 12 plate) I never saw a warning so it could be something introduced recently.
  18. We had a 2016 diesel. It did (and still does) plenty of runs and never had any issues with the DPF. It had several new water pumps though, two under warranty, and one with the new owner just outside (but because it was consistently looked after by the dealer who sold it to us) which was largely paid for by Skoda goodwill. DPFs can be a problem with diesels, but the newer ones are less of a problem as the engines were designed with them in mind rather than being an add-on. So on the one hand you do need to consider if your usage will suit that, but on the other be aware that the naysayers of doom may just be reporting old information that doesn't apply to newer cars. DPFs are not always the disaster some will tell you. Our 2016 diesel manual achieved over 90MPG (indicated) once. The replacement 1.0 TSi DSG rarely does better than 60MPG indicated but then fuel is cheaper. For your useage will it make a difference? All of these are better than a 2.0 V6 I have than struggles to get over 24MPG (but then I've not had it on the road for a couple of years). PS: note you are Lincolnshire. We travelled over to Horton's in Lincoln, from Staffordshire, to buy our current one.
  19. I found a seller on ebay who was selling an SD card with the maps. However I suspect they weren't supposed to be selling them.
  20. I'm sure I'll find it. The main issue is that when I have time to look, the car isn't here (my wife uses it more than I do). Anyhow, I've done some searching and the box you found is the video interface. The satnav unit has little mounting feet. Here's a photo I found that shows all the units connected together. As they were dealer fitted, each one will depend on who fitted it. You could follow the bunch of wires coming out of the left connector on the box you found (upper centre in the photo), as they go to the satnav box (lower left box).
  21. I don't think that box is the Nav unit. There are two boxes in the system, the Nav unit and the video interface. I think I can see the LVDS connectors for the video signal top left (pink and white) so that means it's the video interface. The SD card slot is on the nav unit itself I believe (I've still not found ours).
  22. I'd expect that the software for reading the data is withing the main unit, and not on the SD card. My experience with the SD card is on a Kodiaq, so can't relly compare beyond the hidden files issue.
  23. It's not a Macbook you used is it? MacOS puts extra hidden files on that the car system doesn't like.
  24. Never heard that in my Kodi either. Or again any other Skoda or VAG. Could it be something like your phone via bluetooth? Perhaps try switching your phone off and seeing if it goes away? One other possibility. Was your car factory new, or has someone else owned it? I ask because sometimes people add things and you don't know they are there. This can even happen when a dealer fits something. We had a really odd problem on our other Skoda (Fabia 3) which was caused by a system we didn't even know was fitted becuase the first owner had got the dealer to fit it. We would occasionally get a voice saying 'satellite reception lost' out of nowhere which was odd given the car had the standard non satnav head unit. Turns out there's a dealer fit satnav! And this started to cause the screen to flicker, because we never used it. Now we know it's there, and switch it on sometimes, the flickering problem has gone. EDIT: sorry just seen in your first post that the car is new. So ignore the second part of this.
