  1. Update: everything was good when I went to the skip. No errors thanks for the help
  2. I think it was a 3rd party seller and I’m always reluctant and suspicious when a saving is too good? Besides we are taking £3 difference and Tanya almost did next day
  3. Sorry I forgot about the full lock step. Now I just have the start stop error but I need to take the old battery to the skip so we will see if it goes
  4. @varooomSo Tanya were fast getting me the new battery and the battery was a simple enough swap but now I’m getting several errors when I restart but they don’t seem related to the battery? Tyre Pressure Indicator, ESC, Hill Hold, Front assist and a Stop/Start error
  5. @varooom looks about that size without taking it out Just ordered the Varta model from Tanya, probably with postage a few quid more than the Amazon Bosch equivalent but at least I have no worries about its authenticity
  6. @varooom sorry to be a pain but is there any difference between the Bosch S5 and the Varta E39 option
  7. Thanks @varooom your a life saver, I start a new job in March which will require quite a few miles so I didnt want to worry about the battery. Now for the next on my list, what do you know about all season tyres 🤣 joking. Thanks again
  8. @varooom I keep getting a server error when I try to upload the photo but it is a Varta 7P0 915 105 12V 68Ah 380A DIN BEM Code: 7P0915105 VAO67050991XD
  9. I noticed that my current battery does struggle sometimes now not helped by the keyless start up sequence. I had a routine service the other day and surprise they said the battery needs replacing soon which I knew wasn't cheap as its a stop/start 2.0TDi engine but I struggled to stay on my seat when they said it would be ~£400 😵 I said no thanks I would sort it myself..... Looking at the batteries it looks like the Bosch S5 A08 is the best candidate but I'm confused if it needs coding? Euro Car Parts have them for £250 but Amazon have them for £140? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-0-092-S5-A-080-Rechargeable-Starter-Battery/dp/B00SJ97O6W/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Car+Batteries+s5+a08&qid=1675246904&s=automotive&sr=1-1@varooom any advice
  10. Just wanted to get the collective thoughts on the frequency to expect the Regen cycle to run on the engine (2.0Tdi 190HP) Mine seems to run almost every day but I am currently just doing short trips to pick up the kids. If the region is running too often is it ok or an indictor for something else ?
  11. This is often the case with garages especially dealers where if no fault codes come up on the computer they don't have a clue. The cynic in me says that the diagnostic fee is just a free money maker. I often find open forums like this know the answer better than the people we pay it fix the problem. I had a problem on my old 52 plate Octavia with a faulty mass flow sensor but the garage couldn't find the fault after three visits and kept blaming bad fuel, it took me a bout 30 mins search on Briskoda to solve the issue......
  12. 40,000km seems a little early to have a failure in the water pump??
  13. I need the collected knowledge 😉 I had all four tyres changed yesterday and since then I keep getting an error message on the display to “Depress the brake pedal” when I come to a stop. I have the auto handbrake enabled and the green light is coming on so I’m lost as to why the error message is coming on and if it’s related to the tyre change ????? any thoughts
  14. I now also have it fixed I was due the cam belt change next year so also brought it forward and got the belt and pump changed for £458 at an independent VW garage and they even made room to get it done asap. Overall a good deal as the dealer quoted £699 just for the belt
  15. It would appear that someone in Skoda HQ has pressed a button to trigger the water pump on all 2017 190ps TDI's 😜 It's going to be an expensive job but I found a independent VW garage who is doing it for almost half of the dealer cost. And its still cheaper than replacing the engine......
  16. spoke with the mechanic today and as soon as I said the temp suddenly shooting up he said water pump, so that's that unfortunately that means the timing belt at the same time but the garage is being brilliant to get it straight in
  17. Thanks, I'm waiting on a call back from a local independent garage about timing belt and water pump replacement. I'm just nervous about getting there as its probably about 15ish miles
  18. So I was on my way back from the school run this morning and I got the red overheat alarm, you know the scary one that says stop immediately Normally I don't pay too much attention as the gauge goes to 90 and sticks there regardless of the time or distance driven but when the warning went off it was already touching 130!! I pulled over, stopped the engine and popped the bonnet but the engine wasn't running hot or showing any signs of over heating (no steam or ticking, pipes cool and coolant levels ok). I waited a few minutes then turned on again, the needle went to 90 but appear to stabilise but after a few minutes driving it started to rise again. I repeated the cycle again and got it to the local village garage were they also couldn't see any sign of it over heating. Since then on the drive home it has been at 90 ? Looking on the forums it would point to the water pump but I have a question, if it has the malfunctioning water pump would the engine not of been hot? The mechanic said he could hold all the hoses with no issue? Also another thing that may be related is that the timing belt is due for replacement next year and I know that the water pump is often done at the same time due to the complexity of it location, but are the two components actually linked in anyway as when the car was serviced at the end of Sept they commented on a 'noise from the timing belt' FYI its a 2017 2.0TDI 190ps
  19. I wonder if they only list the rear brakes as it may be an option?? Do they still do drums on any of the trims? My sticker just shows the rear as well
  20. its just the 190 TDI and the discs definitely aren't vented
  21. Does any one have a Scooby how to find out the exact part number required for certain parts. My car went in for a service and they commented on the need to replace brake pads but I will just get my local garage to replace these. Problem is when I search via my reg number for new brake pads it says there are several different sizes so how can I know which ones? On a related topic is there any real advantage of a premium brand like Brembo over a more common brand like Bosch??
  22. this was my thoughts exactly, I wasn't impressed by any of the colours. This was an issue I had when I ordered my Superb II L&K back in late 2013, the best I could get was Storm Blue which was discontinued not long after. So when I got my Superb III Sportline I rebelled and got Dragon Green (you know the yellow one )
  23. Got the cover off ok but the holding bracket is cracked so I guess it's a call to the insurance
  24. just found this guide which may mean that the bumper and grille can stay put
  25. just noticed my model still says mark 2 L&K which I haven't had for over 3 years. The more observant will see that the picture definitely isn't an L&K
