  1. It could be the rear quarter window, open the door, fold back the rubber seal around the inside of the glass and seal with silicon. Or ask the dealers to try looking there. It's odd but mine only stopped after I sealed the inside, sealing it outside, rubber to paint, didn't fix anything. I suspect air between the cavity of the door is finding its way inside on the inside rubber seal. Good luck.
  2. Another thing, your probably looking at about £ 250 to put right if you take it to Skoda
  3. Yep the car does a test on startup so no lights as soon as engine is started. I would suggest taking the wheels off and having a look around the hubs, I know you don't know which one it is but something might be obvious, maybe give the abs rings a wire brush and some brake cleaner on the sensors
  4. Orange/yellow or red. If they are yellow it's only a warning that there is a fault and its safe to keep driving, if they are red you don't want to be driving it. I had the 3 yellow lights on my 57 plate vrs and it came down to a faulty wheel bearing and abs sensor. Techs said it was possible there was some crud up in sensor so I left it alone. A few days later the lights never appeared again and my wheel bearings are fine, no rumble or problems spinning the wheel up on jacks.
  5. Hi guys, just a quick heads up, there is a Fabia vrs on sky channel 520 right now, go watch!
  6. If its been low on oil would you not worry something has worn prematurely. I had a tfsi for a brief period and once the dealers had striped the engine they said I would start having to pay if they I wanted them to dig deeper but they def confirmed there was a big problem.
  7. Yep I was thinking I am In a good position but they originally wanted me to pay when I was picking it up, I said I would like to hold back some payment as the agreed work wasn't finished in the timeframe he had. At the end of our conversation I agreed to bring it back beginning of next week as I needed the car for Friday and decided to tell me he trusts me and will get payment once it finished. Now do I call him tomorrow, or try and get into him to talk over it, I'm working all day Friday and my wife was meant to drop it off on Monday. Looks like my only choice is a phone call tomorrow and he will have to look at it himself on. Monday.
  8. It's hard to tell at the minute but when I picked it up there was a fine orange peel effect, the colour was spot on though. Will have a proper wash and dry at the weekend them decide if I want it redone, thing I'm worried about is when I come to resell it, and the punter notices its been painted over, or when the plastic film shrinks and expands in the hot and cold what will the paint on top of it do, my bet is it will flake off. Last thing I want to do is have a complaint about their work but I'm sure it shouldn't have been painted over.
  9. Hi guys, just got my car back from the bodyshop and although the job looks good, they have painted right over the clear plastic paint protector and you can see a metallic blue edge round it which kinda highlights it even more, there is no way that thing is coming off now. Should I ask them to remove it, paint the side of the car again and put a new one on, the reason they painted the whole side of the car was so they could blend it in to match the original paint on the front wing and rear quarter. They haven't finished the work on it, they promised me it would be completed today but was told this morning they are pushed for time, it's going back in on Monday to get a flat and polish. So I haven't paid yet either. What do you guys think.
  10. Wow! Just under £1900 if you dont touch the clutch and have already paid for the work already undertaken, for those running a total here. Could you sell for parts, save the 2K and get something less broken. I just dont undertand how the car has got to this condition, no offence but I havent seen a 12 year old car needing this much work all of sudden' Look here for fixed price servicing you can save some money on the brakes here. As for getting them done at this price, you will need to ask the garage if they are part of this fixed price regime, if they are not they dont have to offer the fixed price. The airbag light might be a well known break in a wire, search this site for more info as I dont want to advise wrongly with something as dangerous and important as an airbag.
  11. Off topic sorry op, What colour is your vrs meta55b, Ill have to wave if I see you!
  12. I thought when you did the calculations getting a wider tyre also increases the radius so leads to a more bouncy tyre. Not saying this is the right thing or that I do this, its just an example of maybe why they are 235 on your car at the moment
  13. The standard size on 17 inch vrs alloys is 225/45, I have heard of people gettting wider tyres to suit winter conditions, other than that I dont know why you have 235's on there
  14. Hi, you have made a great choice into building your own pc, i made the very same decision years ago and I have built a few since. I can only offer my advice so here goes. If your looking to future proof, you will need to spend on some top end parts, have a look at some name brand power supply units, you cant go wrong with Corsair, Seasonic, Enermax. You also wont need more than 750 watts, more watts doesnt mean 'better' look for amps on the 12V rails when looking up specs and compare to what your graphics card minimal power draw requires. Motherboards are a bit more tricky but pick a 'socket', the newer sockets from intel are socket 1155, go for the current chipset and get a Z77 like this I have this very board and its very capable, I have my Intel i5 3570K overclocked to 4.5Ghz, which is the next part I will suggest you get, look for K series intel processors, they are overclockable and so future proof. Graphics cards, dont listen to people telling you you need space for 2 so you can bridge them, better known as xfire or sli. spend some decent money on one, as opposed to similar money on 2 which are maybe a little faster, but with 2 cards your desktop pc will turn into a furnace, and sound like a jet taking off. You also need to spend more money on a bigger power supply and probably a bigger case. Stick with one, I have an Asus HD 7970 and it plays all the current games with high graphics settings at over 60 fps, really you only need 30 fps to look fluid but the closer to your monitor refresh rate the smoother it all looks. For the above rig you looking at spending around £1000, maybe more depending on peripherials, monitors, printer etc but certainly no less than a grand to get a decent rig
  15. Or if you don't have a stethoscope try using a long screwdriver and touching various parts in the engine bay and pressing your ear against the handle, just be careful where your poking the screwdriver
  16. Same problem happened with my 57 plate vrs. Dealers looked at it and said one of the abs sensors were faulty on the rear, they also commented on a worn bearing. After they told me the price to fix it I said I would need to save up first. Upon closer inspection by myself the accused wheel bearing was fine and 2 days later after suffering a week off warning lights they remained off one morning and are still off having done nothing to the car, I suspect dirt was stuck in the abs sensor and since the the tpms, ESP and ABS need this sensor to work it threw all those lights up on the dash
  17. So how much would you say, I have seen a few 6 year old vrs's up here for around £6500 from used car dealers which is what I based my estimate on
  18. With that higher than usual spec you should probably aim for £6500 but expect to sell it for £6000. I nearly bought a 2006 tfsi with 55K on the clock for £5500 a year ago, albeit it only had the jumbo box and dual climate.
  19. Guys, do you think we scared the OP away?
