  1. Had a better listen and from other side of engine don't know if that's good or bad though! - posted details in other thread. Waiting for garage to get back to me with time to check it.
  2. Hi All I noticed a scraping noise from engine yeserday managed to get a better look (listen) tonight. It pretty loud and sounds dire. I was worried if it is the DMF going. Its on left of engine so I doubt DMF Must be on right with gearbox (Phew - I think!) It is rev dependent and will gradually disappear if engine revved to 1200 rpm where I cannot hear it any more! No coolant loss no oil in water (Must check oil!) as best I can tell it is coming from the area below the washerbottle but on engine. Belts are good I cant see anything obvious. Noise i think comes from below vibrating tensioner? on left of engine from front. Anyone care to take a guess- its like scrape - scrape - scrape in time with engine. This made me pull out of suspension group buy and as Skoda main dealer did Timing belt and water pump just lately I'm no very happy.
  3. Arrghhhh! I was all exited about this buy, now the engine is making dreadful "scraping" noise. Started yesterday. Disappears if revved but real bad at tickover! Does seem lumpier but tbh hard to tell. I suspect it may be the DMF (OW!) I spoke with Rob at Shark and explained problem so I will have to go for the next group buy. I cannot afford to do both and the suspension still works. None to sure if the DMF will tomorrow. There is fortunately enough folk to continue in the buy. Going to get on to Skoda dealer as they did Cambelt and Waterpump (Allegedly) so if its related to that I will be having further discussions. My regrets. My thanks to Shark and Briskoda. Keeping fingers crossed its something simple.........
  4. Well I got the tyres on and have done a few miles on them now... I have to say I'm impressed. Quieter, feel grippier especially in the wet. Measured against satnav speedo is now only out by a fraction. 70 mph = 68mph on satnav. I guess that fuel computer will be more accurate now as well. Handles speed bumps better - and looks much better in wheel well. I would recommend this tyre. There is a small degree of small bump absorbtion as well that makes it much more pleasant. The speed hump I nearly always grounded on is now fine too! I wonder how it will go with the new suspension kit? An overall increase in tyre diameter of 11mm I think.
  5. Could this be Helicoiled? A quick and easy fix? Darn it! Beaten to it.
  6. I'm in but i'm concerned over ride height. I do need the suspension replaced but would not want to drop to far. I have read variously height drop is from 20 - 35mm. While 20mm would I think be perfect, 30mm is perhaps risking problems with grounding on speed humps. I am not in this for the total balls out performance aspects or indeed for posing - I would like to improve on standard ride and handling. I would hope that the damping and springing will still be a huge improvement over tired old cr*p I have? Having said that I am in regardless and will give it a try. Next up is the braking... another group buy?
  7. I was going to put in a sarcastic reply.... Then I thought nah I'd probably have done same. Good luck with the grill

  10. Hi all I got a set of goodyear 225/55 16 V Vector 4 season and I want to use them in place of the 205/55 16 V. Michelin Energy (Down to 3mm). I only see an issue that they might rub on full lock. But I thought I would check with you guy's. I picked them up for a steal @ £160 for 4 barely worn. (I know the source guy and no worries for condition). Not concerned with Hi performance as I rarely go fast anymore... Just checked prices and they are not cheap! £125+ per tyre! Thanks for looking. Any input?
  11. Any chance this would fit / work on my 2005 1.9tdi elegance hatch? The suspension on mine is horribly soft and bouncy. I was driving an 08 estate elegance the other day and it was massively better. I dont drive fast very often now but I do need to fix this.
  12. I'm up for this. I'm guessing no issues fitting to a 2005 Elegance? Price is the crucial issue. So this makes 3 1) Cheezemonkhai 2) VRSerious 3) Zednine.
  13. Details from excel sheet. Looks like the onboard computer is optimistic! Not completely accurate but I'm still impressed. 14. Over 500 normally but holiday tank over 600 fill to fill. I pause after first click and top up for a couple of clicks on pump then stop filling. Have not needed to fill yet so will confirm later. I does rattle a bit (Loads) like an 80s taxi but mileage is great. Loads of torque as well. I try to drive as smoothly as possible it can be entertaining. Fast in fast out!!
  15. Well impressed was on holiday up in Newtonmore(Nr Aviemore) from Aberdeen. Route was Aberdeen - Ballater - Granton - Aviemore - Newtonmore and back. Relaxed drive, occasional overtake, steady cruising approx 60mph. 65+ MPG Normal commute 22 miles per day average speed 20mph. Stop start traffic. 50+ MPG Comfortable and smooth although I think spring rates are odd. Seems to "lurch" into some corners - a little bit skittish. Not to bothered as it may be tyre related (Michelin ES) will change all four come October. Its amazing how much extra cash I have in pocket last car X-Trial 2.5 Auto = 22mpg. Loved the EXY but the costs to run were getting ridiculous.
  16. Last call for phsroberts. I'm taking this unless he contacts Baker21 inside 48hrs.
  17. Well I'll be bu**ered. My bad - humble apologies. It just seems so unlikely....
  18. Think bottom combined price was labour, Dont know which filter tho..... anyone? Cabin - Fuel (Diesel) - Air or Oil
  19. If the phsroberts doesnt take it I will. I Insist on giving you £20.00. I will arrange collection. If your ok with me getting courier? The way I see it even if I replace tyre I get a cheap spare wheel. Only got goo and pump at the moment.
