  1. Interesting reading on vcds can anyone just confirm if this cable link will be ok http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KKL-Car-Diagnostic-PC-Cable-for-VW-Golf-Polo-Passat-Bora-etc-for-VCDS-Lite-/150980052391?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item23271cc5a7&_uhb=1 and i will then still have to download free software from Ross to be able to use?
  2. Is this the only answer for LED Licence plate bulbs? http://www.superskoda.com/news/NEW-PROJECT-Superb-II-MEGA-POWER-licence-plate-light-full-body-
  3. Thanks for the link will start reading. Looking at buying a VCDS cable, but there are loads on ebay do you or anyone else have a link for any recommended cables for 2012 combi model? Then can turn off those tailgate bleeps will be my first test!!!! And look at fitting a second button for closing tailgate from inside which should be the cheapest option as will only need a second tailgate button and some cable Many thanks
  4. Hi Have you fitted the Kufatec unit? Where does it fit into the car and does anything need to be reprogrammed before i start looking on web for any video on how to fit? I know nothing about vcds!! does this need to be done after installing, also where can i find out about what and how vcd works? Is it just a cable that connects to my laptop with software! Can i do much damage if i do something wrong. Is there an undo button
  5. Soft button on the screen does not light up DVD for dvd or CD for cd unlike the HDD, SD, AUX & Bluetooth soft buttons which are all lite and in use? So its not normal for the CD button to stay grey and not pressable!!! even though dvd and cd play ok
  6. Hi Can i easily connect 2 new wires behind the tailgate switch on the boot and route them through the inside of the tailgate, through the car up to the gear stick, buy another electric boot switch to install in one of the blank position's and therefore have the closing working like a two gang light switch on your landing stairs at home so i can close the tailgate or from either the drivers seat or at the boot? Will then have two separate buttons next to the gear stick that will have the same symbol on but one will close and the other open. Will this work or cause any problems with the cambus system? Anyone think this will work and how would i wire off of the back of the boot button so both buttons work?
  7. Is it correct that when you insert a dvd in to the columbus unit the CD button stays greyed out? Dvd's and cd's play fine in unit but i never know if i have left a disc in the machine as the CD button on the top left of unit never lights up? To play i just press the media button twice? Is this correct or has the led behind the cd button failed? Unit on 11 months old
  8. Does anyone know if you can change the settings of the buttons to close as well as open the tailgate? Its great being able to open the boot from the drivers seat for the kids to get their kit out of the car when dropping them off but they are to short to be able to press the button on the tailgate to close the boot and the button next to the gear stick only appears to opens the boot so i still have to get out run to the back to press the button to close the electric boot defeating the purpose of the electric tailgate. Can the key fob also be reprogrammed to close the boot so after you carried everything in to the house you don't have to run back out to the road to press the button on the tailgate. Have i missed some thing in the manual or is the only way to close the boot via the button on the tailgate not able to close via the key fob or button by gear stick?
  9. Going to fit a rear view camera that also has the option of including side and front cameras. Before i order would be grateful if anyone has any manual extracts or advice to assist with the following? 1. Side camera:- To fit the instructions advise drilling holes in the underside of door wing mirrors (18mm) and feeding cable through wing mirror inside door and through hinge rubber to car. Question. Can i remove just the wing mirror blanking plastic trim from inside the car with out removing the whole door trim and feed a cable from the underside of the mirror into door from this panel and then pull out the rubber hinge gromit to feed in to car? Does anyone have any manual pictures for wing mirror door assembly removal? 2. Front camera Does anyone know where i can feed a camera cable from inside the engine bay to inside the cabin? 3. Also looking at fitting rear headrest screens for the kids in the back Questions has anyone done this and how do you undo the seat backs to get the cables out of the bottom of the seats?
  10. Found this link where someone has fitted freeview tv for £50 to their columbus unit. Anybody know how to fit this?
  11. Let me know what the dealer says as i also started a topic on this as my car also takes ages to demist and the sides of the front windscreen takes 30mins to clear as the blower vents do not blow full width of screen. When parked in the office car park in between all the other modern cars they are all able to drive off straight away at the end with no mist on screens except me 2012 skoda and 2 other 15 year old plus cars that have to wait for their screens to clear and i am normally the last one for the screen to clear.enough to start driving even wiping the screen does not help. Just come to the conclusion from all the topics on here that all skoda leak water somewhere inside the car whether visible or not, even a new skoda in a dealer showroom i looked at they told me had a leak from a hole on a weld seam.
  12. Links don't seem to work can you re do links thanks. Before i go down this route just want to make sure that nobody has successfully managed to set the columbus unit to work with a rear view camera and tv tuner??????? or any other suggestion for rear view camera options, recorders? Anybody have any experience with blackvue units as per link? http://www.incarcamerasystems.co.uk/?gclid=COO02KKqp7QCFSbMtAodei4AUA Can you get a tv tuner in car to work on galaxy tabs for kids in the rear to watch tv? Somebody must of linked all this technology to integrate rear view camera, tv tuner, cctv ??
  13. Has anybody successfully fitted any after market rear view camera? Reading threads connecting to skoda head unit is not that good reading through forums. So has anybody fitted an after market kit? if so Which one and where is best to fit the monitor? Considering a flip up monitor as below and a recording device for other motorists that like to leave nice parking dents and marks when left in car parks? http://shop.reversingcamerasuk.com/epages/es106294.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPath=/Shops/es106294_shop/Products/MON4301 http://shop.reversingcamerasuk.com/epages/es106294.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPath=/Shops/es106294_shop/Products/%22DVR%20SD%204CH%22 Any thoughts anybody fitted anything similar any comments?
  14. Have dealer tow bar fitted, just checked spare wheel well. This is dry and incoming electrics have been taped by dealer looks a good job. Does not have sunroof. Rear wash seems to work ok but not checked any pipes. Did notice that when i changed the tailgate internal lights to led that one of the old light bulbs (6 months old) have a slight bit of surface rust but bulbs have not blown. Run the car with AC on all the time on windscreen at 19 deg to stop misting, do not use recirc or auto Carpets feel dry under rubber mats front and back. Do not keep anything wet in boot. Any more thoughts?? Good suggestions so far never thought of checking the tow bar but this is not it? Air con does make a bit of a ticking noise Do i get the dealer to check the pollen filter to see if it is wet and pumping in damp air.
  15. Does anyone else experience excessive misting on the rear tailgate when left parked over night and if we have a frost then freezes inside on the bottom half of the window? Rear demist takes about 90 mins of driving to completely clear pressing the button again and again to keep the demist on. Is this due to the large volume of air in the car? Or do you think i might need to start looking for water ingress? Side windows near mist up at night or during the day. Front screen does mist also half way up but keep the air con on max for 2mins to clear most except the vents dont go full width so takes about another 5mins of journey with max to clear the sides, then leave on screen only to keep clear. Reminds me of my old 1960's MGB GT thought skoda's ventilation might of advanced a bit more, its like taking a step back in time with de-icing and misting compared with the rest of the cars technology that can stream music etc. Any comments, suggestions what to look for or is this normal??? Have not had this problem in any of my previous cars for about 15 years, thought this sort of problem had gone away and been engineered out of most other modern cars i have driven up until now apart from my 2012 skoda!!
  16. Find this forum very helpful so can anyone advise if this is normal or do I need to visit the dealer to check? The ventilation slot on top the dashboard at the bottom of the windscreen runs the full with of the car, but when I press the MAX button for full power to demist the air does not come out of the slot over the complete length. The air stops at about the 30 figure on the rev counter and no air flow then between the rev counter and the drivers pillar. Is this normal as this is the most important part of the windscreen in front of the drivers face which mists up first. Anybody getting air flow right across the windscreen?
  17. Location north Somerset. Filled to cut off before and after at same fuel station with the same pump with same fuel grade of fuel in same weather conditions and time of day. Will a dealer check / adjust accuracy when in for its first service? Car 10 months old 12.5k miles. Will be doing the same trip again over xmas so will do another check, in the mean time ignoring average mpg and range
  18. Read the advice in the manual BUT what would be the maximum depth of water any owner would risk driving through with out feeling that they are going to cause any damage? What would you do if the you where put in the following situation a hear somebody experienced very recently. You are driving along an 'A' road and you come across some local flooding approximately 3 car lengths long and depth just above the kerb (6”), you slow down and drive through very slowly on the limit of the depth advised in the manual. 5minutes later down the road an on coming 4x4 stops you and advises the road ahead is flooded up to 3 foot deep and he only just managed to get through. You turn around and head back down the road, approximately 10 minutes has past since you drove through the first flood which has now greatly increased to about 12 car lengths long and you watch the 4x4 in front drive through the the water just over half way up this wheels. Your hand book says only drive up to the sill level but the water ahead is approximately double the depth. There is no other side roads to turn around and use. Do you try and find the highest level of road between the 2 floods park up and wait a day or 2 in your car and hope the flooding does not get any worse if so you are trapped in your car? Or Drive through the first flood again at the deeper depth? Hence what is the maximum deep owners would drive through in the really world not what the owners manual advises!!!
  19. Does anybody now the maximum wadding depth for the diesel estate on flooded roads? Is it governed by the engine air intake level? (where and what height) Some brands advise disconnecting the low level air intake pipe to prevent scooping water into the engine before driving through deep puddles? Or is the superb governed by any low level electrics in the engine bay. Or is there anything you can fit to prevent any damage if caught out by floods?
  20. Can anyone tell me if there is a setting in the menu any where to adjust the accuracy of the mpg reading on the dot-matrix read out on the dash? Just completed a 233 mile journey and the matrix gives a reading of 54.3mpg average. Filled the car before and after brim to brim using 24 litres of diesel I work out the average to be 44mpg giving a computer over reading of 18.9 % and thus the range to empty over reading by 123miles. If the accuracy can be adjusted has anyone got any instruction?
  21. Can anyone tell me of there is an ant-stall device fitted to the 170 diesel 4x4 estate? Have noticed that in heavy traffic in first gear I can take my feet of all the pedals and the car slows down to 5mph and just keeps going and never stalls. Find this very useful in slow moving traffic especially on steep hills in queuing traffic. Does this cause any damage to the engine? Can see that it will be really useful also in snow if it does not do any damage driving like this. Is this normal as its my first experience with a car that will not stall.
  22. Just been trying to find any unticked options on my HTC Sensation Android phone, MFD screen and Columbus settings but can not find any text options to display on the MFD. Any advise?
  23. Any chance of some tips instructions on how to set up the remote sim mode to be able to read sms on MFD? Cant find any instructions. Do i need to delete the phone and connect / pair it from scratch again in a different way or is there a setting some where i cant find? Also all the extra tab options are all greyed out is this because not connecting via remote sim mode for conference call options etc? Many Thanks
  24. So you can not even display text messages on the MFD on a 2012 year model?
