MK1 vRS - Stage 2 R-Tech Tuned
I decided to get up early this morning and head off for a drive. We're lucky that there are some amazing roads round here and that on a Sunday morning the only real traffic on the roads is the occasional sheep or pheasant. The route is about 74 miles and goes from Scarborough up to Whitby, over the tops and then down to Danby, Castleton, Blakey Ridge and back home to Scarborough via Pickering. I also took a few photos along the way as it seemed like a good idea at the time. The car performed brilliantly and even returned nearly 37mpg despite the occasional use of the right foot. It's been ages since I used the car for anything other than going to work and back so I'm glad i made the effort.

Custom Tune today :o)
I'm free this Sunday but it's a seven hour round trip so might have to give it a miss.🤣

Custom Tune today :o)
Same here. Mine is supposed to be running 235bhp and 301lb ft (with a graph to back it up). I had considered going and having the map faffed around with to get more bhp, but then it drives really well and has been in this state of tune since 2013. That's who set mine up and I'm quite happy with it.

Gissin's White vRS project
My fag packet maths makes that an increase of 43bhp and 43ft lbs. I bet it feels like a different car now.

Hmm, I would have thought you'd get more than that as I got only 8hp less on a standard car with a custom remap from RS Tuning in Leeds. Having said that, I'd had the car from new and it only had 25k miles on the clock so everything was still quite new. I did manage to blow my first turbo with a cheap remap and no rolling road session. it turned out the actuator was dodgy and let too much boost through so in turn I guess they can go the other way an not let in enough. Like you, I also fitted an ebay special catch can a few weeks back in the same place as you have. Mine's slightly different, does yours have the 19mm internal diameter outlets on the on the can? I have yet to have a look in mine as it's only done about 300 miles since fitting it so I thought I'd leave it another couple of hundred miles before I check.

MK1 vRS - Stage 2 R-Tech Tuned
I've finally got round to fitting the catch can. I got a shopping list of the things I needed from 'niceyellow vrs' which helped a lot, so that was much appreciated.👍 Having mulled over where to put the catch can, I settled on where the two relays sit at the rear of the engine bay. I watched a YouTube video of a catch can install on a Mk1 Audi TT and they tucked the relays into the housing to the right of the relay unit and it seemed to work well. Following this method, I did the same and both relays fitted nicely without too much of a struggle. When faffing around mocking up different brackets to attach the can to the original bodywork & holes, I had the idea of using the original relay box. The can fits nicely in there so I held it in place with a couple of cable ties just to see what it would look like. It turns out that if I placed the two bolts that came with the can in opposite diagonal holes, the cable ties don't slide off and the can is nice and secure. For now, I'll leave things as they are as to remove the can all I have to do is undo the two hoses and the whole unit unclips off the original bracket along with the plastic housing. To empty the can it's simply a case of sliding the cable ties over the bolts, take the can out and empty it. I may redo this at some point but seeing as it's so secure and tucked away, it isn't too much hassle to loosen two jubilee clips to empty the can. To allow the pipe to connect to the 'hockey puck' I rotated it 90 degrees anticlockwise. Also, it took just under 60cm of hose to complete the job so if anyone is thinking of doing anything similar it gives you an idea of how much to order. Anyway, I've put some photos below for folks to look at and to give their opinions on the install.

Scuttle panel bits missing
Just a quick one. As you can see from the photos, there's a couple of pieces missing from the scuttle panel. If anyone knows where to get them from, please give me a shout as I'd like to get the holes filled in, mainly from an aesthetic point of view but also because they are meant to be there. Thanks, Andrew.
