  1. #728 up for sale in Perthshire... https://www.gumtree.com/p/skoda/skoda-fabia-vrs-se-1.9tdi-2007/1462965027
  2. Yeah that's the kind of price I'm comin across looking for pcd 5x100 to 5x112 converters. My heart loves these wheels but my head agrees with you about just moving them on... 😭 not keen on the spiders tho. I like the double parallel spoke design the Atlantas have... I actually have two BBS golf 15" alloys sitting there that I'd intended to put on the red Fab, but they need a refurb, another two to make a set, and invariably new tyres too, so would cost more than the pcd converters to get them on the car! Back to the drawing board me thinks.... ((epic fail yet again at just making my car look good!)) Interesting reading, thanks for sharing, I learned!
  3. I was coming up to needing new tyres and decided to finally treat the Fabi (and myself!) to a nice set of alloys. A lot of window-shopping later, and I fell for a set of the VW Atlantas with decent all-weather tyres. Nearly £200 and a day trip later, they’re sitting in the outhouse here, still waiting for me to find a 16” spare. Got impatient yesterday and went to put them on, only to find the bolt alignment is different, and the Atlanta bolt holes sit wider than the holes in the cars hub. I’ve fallen in love with these wheels and really don’t want to have to get rid, but don’t know what to do to put them on cheaply! Can anyone advise? (What Fabi will look like with the Atlantas on 🥰)
  4. Good stuff, and well done for doing it yersel. Had a pulley problem on my 1.9tdi and replaced whole alternator as the pulley had stripped the thread on it 😂 Another good learning experience and FYI all; non air con models have different parts!
  5. View Advert Octavia Estate 1.9 TDi Elegance 2004 Getting another Fabia this week nr Bradford, and reluctant to trade in my Octavia as it'll sadly just go for scrap as it's got such a short MOT and does need some tlc 😢 I'll be driving it down to Bradford so if you're interested and can meet me down there, please read on! Good points: Been well looked after with service history for 2005 - 2018, I think it's been garaged most of it's life as the bodywork is pretty rust-free, Two new Goodyear efficientgrips on it this year, Below-average mileage at currently 145k, Since I got it last year it's had a new front spring, discs/pads, lower sus arms, tailgate lock. Bad points: Short MOT left and think it'll need some work done on the usual suspects at this age/mileage, Scratched the front on some barbed wire last year, so paintwork on corner of bonnet and front wing scratched **this was cleaned thoroughly and lacquered over the next day, so no rust - just cosmetic** Think the glowplugs need checked as it's reluctant to start in colder damp weather, Don't know when the belt and pump were replaced (not in service record) so this will need done. Sunroof and 'lights on when door open' buzzer can be temperamental! I know this is a long-shot but it's done me well the last year and a half, just a bit on the big side so going back to a Fab. If someone wants it as a project or donor, please get in touch asap! Open to offers. More photos and info available on request Advertiser Superfi Date 10/10/21 Price £300 Category Cars for Sale
  6. Presuming 993 bit the dust at some point as the seats are currently for sale from a different vrs on gumtree: https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/fabia-se-front-seats/1409622975?utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_ios&utm_medium=social&utm_source=ios_social
  7. Hi guys, Had an incident this week with the Octy on an icy road where (at 150mph in 2nd gear) I still managed to slide in slow motion into a fence. The road had been ploughed the same morning but a token gesture of grit dropped between the wheel tracks, so although anticipating the conditions, I kept going regardless into the fence. Pretty heartbroken. My poor 'almost mint' mk1 Octy was stopped by a barbed wire fence making contact on the bonnet and the bumper. I'm crap at bodywork so wondered if anyone on here had an idea how much it would set me back to restore this bad boy modern classic to it's former glory. Mostly paintwork layer damage on the bonnet but a few gouges into the metal, and of course the plastic bumper has deep scoring. TIA. In Abdnshire area if that helps.
  8. I saw! 😍 If I had the cash I’d have been in touch about it, thanks. If you still have it in a few months I might be in the position to give you a shout! I’ve got a mk2 sitting here with a towbar on it and wondered if it would swap over... 🤷🏼‍♀️
  9. Hi folks, long time since I’ve been on, and picked up a lovely mk1 Estate 1.9tdi. 😍 I’ve got used to having the towbar on the Fab but there’s not one on the Octavia. However I do have access to a towbar from a mk2 Octy Estate. I don’t know the brand as there’s nothing on it, but can anyone say if it’ll fit the mk1? cheers!
  10. Pants - thanks mate, think I need to source a new bxe engine then...
  11. If this helps I think mine is an ATD and the Octavia is likely a BXE?
  12. Cheers Tech1e, I wasn’t sure they’d be that transferable.. is there a likelihood the fab engine could get damaged then? Might be better picking up an Oct engine than risk damaging my fab..?
