I thought I was the only Galway member, but seems there's another I've become aware of, and possibly more around the West of Ireland. I'm wondering have we enough members in the West of Ireland to warrant a meet sometime? So if there are more members, post up if you're interested, your location and we could see if we could get a meet going : ) 1. Col200sx; Galway

Mk1 Octavia VRS clutch change (and possibly dmf)
Col200sx replied to Col200sx's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Cheers for the link : ) Can't access Ebay in work, but I'll have a look later. Thanks How does it feel compared to before? Happy with it? Hey Michael, I'm still not sure! I do most work myself too, but like yourself, I don't fancy splitting the box and engine on a cold, wet and dirty driveway in November! I'll be asking around, as I know a lot of places won't work with parts they haven't supplied themselves, 1: they won't guarantee them (fair enough) and 2: they can't make any markup on the parts, so they only get labour. I've been asking around, I should know more in the next couple of days. On another note, has anybody got any thoughts on this: http://www.mister-au...a021826317.html It was recommended to me by a friend, and I can get it delivered for about £150. EDIT: On further inspection, I don't think that link fits. -
Mk1 Octavia VRS clutch change (and possibly dmf)

Cheers for the help folks. I rang Skoda here in the Rep of Ireland, and the price was, well just...... a lot. So I don't think I'll be going that route. I hear good things about the G60 smf and VR6 clutch kit. Is it a direct replacement? Also, where have people bought these from? Does anybody know what it's like in comparison to the CG-Motorsport and other kits? -
Mk1 Octavia VRS clutch change (and possibly dmf)

Cheers. How much did it cost you? Parts, labour etc? (I'm bracing myself for a shock) -
My clutch had been slipping for a while, just over-revving a bit under harsh acceleration, but over the weekend, it's finally given up I think. The car still drives, but it feels like you're taking off in 5th gear, very sluggish, and when you do give it a bit of throttle, it just free revs up the rev range without much acceleration at all. The possible good news is there isn't any juddering or any different noise on idle, the clutch pedal feels as consistent as always. So I'm hoping it's just the clutch and not dual mass flywheel. Anybody have any thoughts? Anybody recently gotten theirs done? (Car is a 2002, with 131k miles, and has always been serviced on time, and well looked after) Thanks.

Will these wheels fit an Octavia VRS?
Col200sx replied to Col200sx's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Cheers Lloyd. They'll only be spares, and they're cheap as chips : ) -
I'm after spotting cheap set of Oz multispoke alloys, good to have a set of spares, especially for refurbing my own wheels. Do ye know off hand if these will fit? 5x100, ET30, 17x8 with 215-45-17 tyres. Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome folks. So far so good, have only had to change the indicator relay, more expensive than I thought, €45 from Skoda here in Galway. Generally a lot of the roads out Connemara direction are scenic, the roads are crap (potholes, narrow etc), but they're great for driving through the mountains, some good places to get pics too. Just watch out in summer, you're guaranteed to be caught behind a packed rented Micra doing about 25mph!!!!

Hi all, new member from Galway, Rep of Ireland. Have owned a few decent cars in recent years, 260bhp Nissan 200sx (used to be the West of Ireland rep on the SXOC), Honda Accord Type R, BMW E46 320d, and just today picked up a 2002 Octavia VRS in black. For some reason it's giving me an error when I try to upload a pic on the site so can't show ye it yet. But so far so good, it's very quick, I was very impressed with my first drive. And feels mechanically spot on. Just a few stonechips around the body, otherwise pretty clean. Anyway, the site looks good, I'm off now for a look around : ) Col : )
