  1. Same here, I paid off the PCP as soon as I got home from the dealers to avoid any interest charges. Over the phone VW Finance were nice as pie and confirmed I would still keep the free services. I had my first free service last year, and a free major service comes up in May.
  2. Off the top of my head they included these:- Beeps when locking/unlocking. Gauge needle-sweep at startup. Temperature Adjustment for Hot Countries (lowers aircon temperature - it originally read 8.3 degrees, now it reads 6.3 degrees). Disable Stop/Start. Scandinavian Rear Lights DRL activation (rear LED lights activate with the front DRLs). Show A/C blower speed when in auto climate control. Refuel Quantity selectable on driver’s maxidot display. Flash hazard lights when emergency stopping.
  3. You can easily do this yourself using Carista which comes with a free month's trial where you can enable and tweak dozens of customisation features for the Karoq and many other cars. It simply plugs in to your car's ODB port in the driver footwell area, and the free phone app works on Android and iOS. It's down to £10.99 in the Black Friday sale so a definite bargain, and after the month's free trial you can cancel and still use Carista for diagnostics for ever for free, or buy a day's pass to do some more customisations and diagnostics on yours or anyone elese's car:https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Carista-Bluetooth-Adapter-Scanner-Technology/dp/B00YVHGTBM Using Carista I've done about 12 tweaks to my car which the dealer wanted to charge me £250 to do!
  4. I solved my sound issues of Canton/Karoq Edition by first of all disconnecting the centre speaker which adds midrange distortion and narrows the stereo imaging. The grill just prizes up and then just unclip the speaker terminals. And I fixed the harsh higher-mid EQ by playing all my music through the free iOS/Android app "Onkyo HF Player" which has graphic/parametric EQ's to pull out the nasty peaks around 3.5kHz, and it also preserves my custom iTunes playlists.
  5. I bumped one of my 19" Crater Anthracite alloy rims on a car park kerb - can anyone please advise the best way to repair this?
  6. Since changing the settings from cold to colder (using the app Carista) I have noticed the aircon to be performing better, but only when the face vents are aimed directly at my face. Comparing my 2018 Karoq Edition to a 2019 basic Fabia's aircon, the Fabia's face vents are ice cold whereas mine are just cold. Before I used Carista the dealer said my Karoq aircon was working to specification. With Britain getting hotter, the first thing I will check when I test drive my next car purchase is how cold the aircon gets!
  7. Pop your postcode into here and it should tell you which DAB stations you can receive: https://getdigitalradio.com/?slide=check-your-available-stations
  8. It could be that the jpg format is not within the recommended size - depending on which infotainment unit you have check these instructions from the Karoq manual. Also, if you've formatted the USB stick to MS-DOS Fat32 using a Mac, make sure there are no Mac-specific invisible files on there that will confuse the system. If using Mac I suggest downloading the free Mac application CleanMyMac 2 which will remove any unnecessary Mac-specific invisible files from the USB card. Run the app after you've put the icons on there, and place all the separate icon images directly onto the USB stick instead of popping them all into a folder and THEN popping the folder onto the stick. Try the latter suggestion anyway even if you used a Windows computer to format the stick. And name the formatted USB stick UNTITLED in capital letters. Good luck!
  9. Try putting my folder of DAB radio station icons on your card and see how you get on. Download from here then unzip the file to your USB card: https://we.tl/t-6lgOVTdd6u
  10. Yes,worked first time. Just format the USB stick to Fat32 first, then put a folder of radio station icons on it.
  11. I imported the logos one by one into the radio itself
  12. I imported the radio logos from a USB stick.
  13. The Karoq is not as icy cold as the 2019 Fabia which is bizarre seeing as it's a bigger engine and more than twice the price.
  14. You need to say YES to all of them, and then in the Vehicle Settings in the infotainment screen there will be a menu box which you have to tick to get the audible beeps.
  15. Using Carista I enabled the rear LED's when the front DRL's are on and it looked quite cool (Karoq Edition 2018). I noticed the sidelights light was illuminated on the light switch together with the Auto light illuminated so I thought this extra illumination light in daytime would annoy me so I disabled the "rear DEL's with front DRL's" feature. But it definitely worked. Has anyone enabled the setting "easy entry/exit (req. memory seats)"? I have a driver's electric memory seat but wondered what this customisation does.
  16. I might see if my 2018 Karoq can take this mod using Carista. I've seen on YouTube where some people have been able to brighten up their DRLs but it's not an option for me with Carista - maybe it's only for non-LED bulbs. Another mod I haven't tried is adjusting the dynamic steering - I'd like it to be more power-assisted when parking.
  17. I did notice it was a tad cooler yesterday when the temperatute read 30 degrees outside, but I was out of the sun so it could have still struggled a bit in full sun. So better, yes, but I still felt the 2019 Fabia they loaned me for the Karoq's first service felt colder. I sometimes don't get the dealer-activated needle sweeps on first start-up, even though I disabled/enabled them myself later with Carista. I wonder if it's because I disabled then re-enabled the auto stop-start thing but didn't know where to set it to put it back to where it was so I chose the lowest voltage value there was. On another topic, have you, or anyone else following this thread, enabled the rear LED activation with the DRL's? (Scandinavian method). I'm wondering if this is useful or not.
  18. You can turn on the rear LED lights along with the DRLs by selecting the Scandinavian mode. Has anyone tried adjusting the steering settings? I'd like to have lighter steering if possible, especially when parking (more power steering). I haven't altered the throttle control as I'm hapy with the way the engine responds and wouldn't like to risk messing anything up. As with any change, make a note of the original/default setting first so you can always put it back to where it was. I altered the Auto Stop/Start setting to DISABLE and I then decided to put it back but I forgot to note where the setting originally was so I had to choose a random "OFF" setting of 7 volts. Is this OK?
  19. Assuming you've subscribed to the free one-month trial (which you can cancel anytime) then once you make a customised change you press "Save" and it should stay permanent once you remove Carista from the port. If still no joy I should email them as they're very helpful [email protected] Sometimes you have to restart the car twice for everything to "stick".
  20. Is anyone using the Carista "beta" app and does it do more customizations than the regular app?
  21. It's a small cordless device that plugs into the pink socket above the driver's footwell. Check out all the links here, https://caristaapp.com it's a doddle to use and connects via bluetooth to any Apple or Android phone/pad/tablet.
  22. After changing the setting with Carista I did notice my A/C feeling a bit cooler yesterday so it has made a difference but if I could make it go even colder I would. Next week will be the acid test when the weather is supposed to be getting hot around 32 degrees.
  23. I'm surprised because the 2019 Fabia I drove recently had aircon temperature colder than my 2018 Karoq - even after the Carista mod I just did. The setting to look for (under Carista's "Heater & A/C" Menu) is "Temperature Adjustment For Hot Countries"
  24. Worked fine for me on my 2018 Karoq Edition. The customisations I did were activate the gauge needle sweeps, audible beeps on locking/unlocking, increase the coldness of the air conditioning (from 8.3º to 6.3º), turn on cornering fog lights, show fan speed on Climatronic when on Auto, and deactivate the auto start/stop system. Went for a long drive today and aircon much cooler and everything working fine. For £16 with a one-month trial Carista is a no-brainer. What else have people been activating or modufying on their cars with Carista? I'd love to activate the rear fog light when in reverse and brighten up the DRLs but I can't yet see an option for these on my Karoq.
