  1. Surely there wont be more than one manufacturer of these so they will all be as poor.

it seems to me that the image could perhaps be stabilized by dripping some clear paint lacquer over the image in the lens. i don't know if the image is on the front or inside so try both?

If the image is on the inside then i assume heat destroys them, if outside well jet washing though then all of mine would have deteriorated.

This will involve dismantling to some degree of course but possible worthwhile.

  2. Me too, though there is a thread somewhere that suggests that if you disconnect the power to the amp for a while it will on powering up come on as normal without any "signal" from the rns510.

of course that begs the question - is it then permanently on? is the output from the extrons configurable to be line voltage only (not amped) and would a different loom adapter be required?

May I know on what cable you purchased and where exactly you bolted this in?

Anywhere on the engine will do, i think he put it on a bolt securing the radiator thermostat.

There must be an earthing strap missing, I have searched under the car when i changed the dsg oil and did not find one.

  4. the tailgate lamps pull out from one side the same as the footwell lamps. they are held in with sprung loaded clips.

On the estate with the sunroof  the two rear passenger lamps though bigger employ the same spring clip method but are much stronger and seem to have an internal metal trim the lamp fits through perhaps to give the headlining more strength?

removing both of those lamps on mine was very difficult and has resulted in them being a looser fit.

It may be possible to remove just the clear lens by inserting a flat tool in the centre top and prising it out however trying to get the festoon bulb in its contacts would be beyond fiddly.

It's hard to get an accurate colour display using an uncalibrated screen. However to give you an idea of coloir temp I've attached a chart.

I suppose its all down to personal preference, after all, nows the chance to make a change.

However, I would say that 6500K will look slightly blue in comparison to the cool white that Skoda tend to use.

I'm glad you found the write-up useful.

I have only ever seen 400k described as daylight white and personally agree with that, 2900k is orange/warm white light you get from incandescent bulbs for example.

I suspect the label against 4000k should say daylight not warm.?
