Sorry to be vague but there is a known fault with a lever that with wear operates too far and causes problems, there is an aftermarket kit to prevent the excess travel.
Just wish i could remember what this lever is called!
perhaps to do with the egr valve?? sorry again but i feel this may be your issue.

Link is dead.. they all die eventualy, can you give a part number or description instead of a url?

Mine have been as useless as that since new.
Do others think that they work across the glass?

Quick question. If you remove the battery, how can you connect VCDS / OBD2 port if vehicle has no power.
At the point you need to connect vcds / diagnostic you have changed the filter and re assembled, i can see that using the funnel method rather than the pressure filling vessel i used could cause tis issue but perhaps connect the battery with jump leads?

There can be more than one break in a wire.
also could it be the system has shut down the faulty circuits and a battery disconnect may sort it now?

I recently had an unknown problem with my 2012 cars columbus, similar to yours in that settings would not be remembered after the car was off for some time.. the map partition format fixed it for me. I have detailed it here recently.
-
I can not say this but perhaps look into part numbers, if both cars list teh same part number then surely it should fit. of course it may need coding to the car but perhaps that coding could be read from your current gearbox...wild guesses here sorry.

If i had to go aftermarket I would probably buy an xtrons (if that is how it is spelt) as they advertise canbus compatible with superb 2.
I dont recall if there is one with wireless android auto yet.

would a factory reset be worth a try, that is available through the on screen menus.

Loom was my immediate thought too. plenty of posts on it here.

Update
The cheap replacement only lasted weeks before jamming up.
The cables look fine but inside the sealed gear part the cables were snagging which only allowed a few centimetres of window travel.
I decided not to risk another chinese ebay copy which i also would have had to wait days for delivery and bought the correct part from TPS.
Interestingly the VAG part now has a revision "A"
It looks identical but i also notice that when fully open that the glass is just visible now above the bottom window seal. Though it is possible that the polystyrene block in the bottom of the door which i had to force out and consequently broke its tab off has not sat in the correct position, or even that the travel is stiffer until worn in.
The newer regulator was much stiffer to operate than the other too.
Revision A was £150

Pound to a penny it is the loom.

sorry no, paid someone who was experienced
That was a suggestion not a question . It realy isn't a difficult job but does require an investment for the first time, though still cheaper than a garage normally.

3t2 971 120 df is the part number for my superb 2 with sound system (non kessy)

Do your own dsg oil change.

Yes covered so many times and plenty of BCM problems. use the search (top right and select this forum) and enjoy hours of reading.

There is a proper flexible clamp for the spare wheel, search for
SPARE WHEEL HOLDER CLAMP PEG BOLT SET FOR VW PASSAT TIGUAN SEAT IBIZA SKODA KODIAQ 3G0803899E
you may also wish to buy a full kit which includes that part plus the foam wheel insert containing a jack etc.

Just press the air conditioning (AC) button . that will stop the load on the compressor and may also stop the noise. turning on again will bring the noise back if i am right.

There was a thread on this some years back and if i recall correctly there are no bulbs, it uses smd led's ( sub miniature device - light emitting diodes)
The thread showed them and perhaps a suitable replacement though the details were sketchy..again if i recall correctly.
use the search / this forum top right

how are you measuring the drain? all doors and boot bonnet , windows must be closed for the car to deep sleep.
-
Try turning the a/c on and off when the noise comes.
Low oil pressure in morning.
