  1. Placed a deposit on a '14 Superb 1.4 TSI (don't do enough miles for diesel). Can't wait to pick it up. Soooooo much more quieter and comfy than my MK1 Octy vRS. It pulled well too I am a Superb convert.
  2. Well I've put a holding deposit (refundable) on the car in question. I'm off to test drive on Sunday
  3. i would love a kombi. However there are none in petrol.
  4. Hello, I nSuperbever thought I'd post in this forum!! As a long term Octy driver (owned a vRS since 2002) and there being a drought of Octavias in the spec I want, I started looking to the Superb. I have spied a 2014 1.4TSI hatch I like. My only concern is the dual boot thing. Is it reliable? As the last thing I want is the boot failing when I am trying to put a tent in the car after going away camping!!! I've read a few instances of the wiring failing, is this a fault across the board or have Skoda improved it? I suppose in the grand scheme of things it's not a massive issue, however I would like to know real life owner's experiences.
  5. That's not cool!!! Seems like a backwards step in build quality! Well the one I was looking at has sold lol. Back to the drawing board!!
  6. What's the crack (this maybe a pun) with the leaky door then? Also it seems like the cam belt is due on this in Sept so it may be a haggling point
  7. I test drove a 1.6 SE estate (2011) and it was jolly nice. Drives like a petrol which I found odd lol, but £30 tax is nice. I have heard/read horror stories about EGR, DPF issues etc, etc. I look after my cars (hence why my vRS is still mint at 14 years and 94000 miles old) and drive them with mechanical sympathy so in theory I "should" be ok. One weird thing was the numbers looked worn off on the gear knob (the rest of the car is immaculate). I know the mileage etc is legit, so are the gear knob trims a bit rubbish? (this is me knit picking at the car).
  8. Hello, I am "finally" looking at parting with my trusty old MK1 vRS and getting an Octy estate as I need a load lugger for the family, camping kit and chucking my bikes in. I've had it for 8 1/2 years and it's been ace (as was the MK1 vRS before it) . I am really out of the loop with the newer VAG engines, but a quick internet search has thrown up some interesting quirks and issues with this engine. Is it really that bad? So am I mad looking at this engine or should I look for a petrol? My commute is a round trip of 22 miles (mainly motorway or NSL a-roads depending which way I go). We visit Wales a bit and travel 80 miles each way to visit family. All help appreciated as I prefer real world answers. Cheers
  9. Well after 12 years, the battery is giving up the ghost. Will this one do the job?? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Type-027-Varta-Silver-D15-Heavy-Duty-Car-Battery-63AH-12V-/281528003817?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item418c606ce9
  10. Test drove the 85bhp and I was genuinely shocked. It is blimming nippy!!! Gutted they haven't got any of the bargain special editions in :(
  11. I want the 105 but there are hardly any about :( There are plenty of 85bhp though. How is the 85bhp engine? My work commute is 9 miles of mostly motorway and occasionally I will need to pull a small trailer with camping gear in it . Would I be better buying an 85bhp and mapping it?? I've not bought a car for me in 7 1/2 years!!! It's a 'mare.
  12. I have to be honest, the DSG box worries me after reading about their durability.
  13. Hi, I have to say the Roomster has made me go WOW!!! It is blimming huge inside! My trusty Octy vRS is 12 years old now and my needs are different. I've been looking at a dealer used 1.2 105 with DSG. Is there anything I should look out for? Also how tough is the DSG box? (can you tell I am a luddite with this sort of stuff). I've only had manuals before. Cheers
  14. Fingers crossed it behaves now Cheers for the help!!!
  15. Its all good now though lol. Bloody car!! It's a good job I like it
  16. Bloody temp sensor had gone as well!!!
  17. Right I've swapped the bloody thing (hate the job). Its still just sitting at 80????? I get heat from the climate unit no bother.
  18. Mine is still doing it. It started at the beginning of the week when it was-2
  19. Shame they can't do something simple like: answer the phone or return your umpteenth call. All I want to buy is a blimming thermostat!! I've been trying to order one since Monday (I don't have the option to drive in during normal working hours).
  20. I think you're on about the temp sender. That's a doddle to change, there're loads of how tos if you google it. Also does the genuine thermostat come with an O ring?
  21. It is bamboozling that something so simple is hard to aftermarket correctly lol.
  22. I think it was a Meyer one from eBay (google fu suggested they were OK). Think I may have to bite the bullet and have my pants pulled down by the dealer. Not looking forward to this job again lol
