  1. On the BLT engines theirs a map that reduces boost based on intake temps. If I remember right once you start going past 70c intake the boost starts to reduce which in turn will reduce how much fuel is injected as they are both linked. The ASZ ecu map doesn’t really have that map configured as the smoke map is based on the MAF sensor. On the BLT the smoke map is based on the MAP sensor. on a stock car and map one third gear WOT pull will see you into the 70c intake temps. I once’s logged intake temps around Oulton part and it was at a constant 70-80c which in return reduced the boost pressure based on the above info. Mine was an ASZ but I switched the smoke map over to be MAP sensor based.
  2. Think people don’t appreciate how good these are in standard form.
  3. To give you an idea. This is with the spring removed and the damper compressed to the point it hit the bump stops. So basically no suspension travel left.
  4. wouldn’t go past 25mm. I did some measurements. On stock springs on the front you have around 2.7inch of bump travel before hitting the bump stops and 2.1inch of rebound. Problem with going more than 25mm (1inch) is you run the risk of hitting the bump stops which you don’t want to do. So when you seen anything slammed on springs then their riding on the bump stops.
  5. Not at all. Wouldn’t say their was any difference in ride at all.
  6. Personally I would keep stock springs and just change the dampers. That way you keep the suspension travel for the speed bumps.
  7. Have a search for retro hid or something like that. They now sell a replacement hids setup which is no xenon. Out of interest when did you get your car? I recently sold my 2004 black Fabia.
  8. What he said For road use I would recommend the setup to anyone. Cheap coilovers might add stiffer springs but I doubt the dampers are anywhere near as good unless you start talking proper kits ie thousands.
  9. Personally I would say the ride was better as I found the standard to be crashy over roughy roads when new. Add 19 years to that… The eibach springs are very similar to stock vRS springs rates so the rides very similar just better controlled thanks to the b8 dampers. I actually ended up running the B8’s with stock springs as I was running out of suspension travel and bouncing off the bump stops. That was when I fitted the H&R rear anti roll bar (stiffest you can get) and went back to stock front anti roll bar. When I had an eibach 22mm front and Jabbasport 23mm rear (H&R is 25mm) I had no issues. I used the car for Autosolo’s.
  10. Are they xenon? I struggled to find anything xenon related.
  11. I have a bilstein b12 kit for sale of my old car I highly recommend the b8 dampers that come with the b12 kit (plus eibach springs). Do a brilliant job at controlling the body movement. In terms of ride I would say it’s much better than stock in the sense it’s less crashy. Does give that sporty feel though.
  12. Around the Liverpool area you’d be lucky to see 5 a year. Even when I bought mine 19 years ago you didn’t see many as they still had the old image. Remember getting laughed at by work mates for putting my order in. But back then fellow vRS owner use to flash and wave at you. They were the days. Remember my now wife but then girl friend thinking what the ****. still plenty registered on the road though. Must depend on the part of the country your in. They are the current nova/corsa though which is a shame. Really nice to see one that’s not “modded to stage 15++”. I sold mine (probably regret doing it) the other week but just couldn’t justify keeping it.
  13. I guessing it my kit you’ve seen on Facebook? I would go back to oem springs for sure. Depending on how low your springs are you might be hitting the bump stops a lot. For the dampers. If you want plain simple comfort then fit none Sport dampers. Before I sold my vRS I put some non Sport dampers on. Oh my god was that soft lol. Didn’t drive it much but I suspect it would have been awful if going for a brisk drive. Sport dampers I always found to make the ride a bit crashy. The B8 really was a big improvement. Yea gives that sport ride but they really do a good job of controlling the spring. If I was getting a used vRS now for a run about then I would get some bilstein b4’s. They don’t show up when searching against a vRS but if you search the normal pd100 then they get listed as Sport suspension which is what the vRS had. if it was for a toy the I would get B8’s again or maybe try koni sport both with the stock springs.
  14. Well the Clio’s not been on the road for 6 years so can’t promise much feedback yet haha.
  15. You hear mixed reviews about J&R but didn’t stop me buying one for my Clio 182. For the price I thought sod it and give it ago. I have kept the old one however just in case.
  16. Bilstein uk will rebuild them. Did you buy them? If so you get a life long warranty if I remember right.
  17. I found the bump stops only a couple of time until I changed my anti roll car setup and my god I was bumping off them really badly on an Autosolo. Reverted back to stock springs to get more compression travel. As sepulchrave mention the b6/b8 are inverted struts so you don’t need the oem bump stops as they’re inside the strut. You will see a nut at the bottom of the strut. Undo that and the damper insert will slide out to reveal the shaft and bump stop.
  18. Personally unless you’re going for a decent coilovers from the likes of bilstein, KW etc then I would avoid them. You want decent dampers to make it ride well. Also lowering the front more than it already is will start to affect roll Center and bump steer in a negative way. I run stock springs, bilstein B8’s, H&R rear anti roll bar and camber front top mounts (extra 2 deg negative camber) and it goes really well. Would look **** on 17’s though lol. Eibach springs would be the lowest I would go (-25mm). Anymore than that and you really don’t have much damper travel left.
  19. 205/40/17 or 215/40/17 are the typical sizes. rear anti roll bar is always good. H&R, Jabba and whiteline. That order starting with the stiffest.
  20. Did you use the fabia heated seats electrics or the golf’s?
  21. I bought a new carrier off eBay. Has it for years with no issue. Only thing I found was the metal was thinner so vibrated. Easily fixed with some sound deadening.
  22. Matt, I use a Bluetooth connects2 style adapter on my stock head unit.
