  1. My 09 (pre fl) vrs with trw debossed on the rear calipers are 282mm rear disks. On ecp, the rear pads to suite are labelled as to fit 260-286mm. Failing that, you could measure it? There's another post on here somewhere about the same subject which I used when I did my brakes.
  2. I have a bolero and I'm thinking about BT when I have some spare cash. I emailed these http://www.carsystems.pl/contact,p1.html lovely people about what to use. They got back to me within a day. Very helpful.
  3. My new badges for my pre fl hatch arrived today. Bought from skoda parts, very quick delivery. They post them from your nearest deale. Should be fitting at weekend. I'll post pics.
  4. Right then, got my rubber slotty pad today. It seems nice and sturdy as it's moulded rather a butchered hockey puck. However, for jacking an Octavia, it rubbish. I offered it up and it could do with a 20mm x 20mm slot rather than 10 x 10. Might just use it upside down instead of a block of wood though.
  5. Picking mine up from post office tomorrow! I'll let me you know how it goes
  6. Cheers Mike. I'd actually ordered a hockey puck thing, but I think the snow in Sheffield has delayed it! I used the inner of the sill because that bit looks the strongest and the profile of the widow maker jack claw suggests that the outer part is used to prevent slipping only, thus the inner takes all the weight.
  7. Hi all, I realise that this has been covered already, but.... Started jacking up the front of my limited edition earlier and ignoring the fact that my aging £20 halfords jack died before I got going, I want to make sure Ive picked my jacking point well. I used the point behind the sill with a bit of wood after I'd removed the plastic trim around said point. What's everyone's thoughts on the PIC? 8. Hi all, Just looking at rear pads for my 2009 VRS, I have TRW rear calipers which I think have 282mm discs. My questions is; will these pads fit: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Octavia_2.0_2009/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-friction/brake-pad/?101441177&1&c30ec376a51778fdd7f324956105f1f8f4cf8c1a&000036 ECP quotes this as the size of disc to fit: "for brake disk diameter [mm]- 260, for brake disk diameter [mm]- 286". Seems like they're hinting at it fittings between 260mm and 286mm. I wouldn't have thought either or. Cheers!
  9. £400-450. Had a quote recently. Getting mine done at a VAG specialist in Sheffield for £300 including water pump and idlers with genuine parts. Skoda is a rip off!
  10. Cheers guys, that's the symbol! Maybe I should rtfm haha. My pads are quite low, but I knew this. Looks like my car now knows!
  11. Hi all, so driving back from meadowhall today an orange symbol flashed up twice at the top of my white maxidot, in place of the clock. It made no noise and the symbol was there for around 5 seconds twice, about 10 seconds apart. Never seen it before. It consisted of a solid orange ring with a dashed Orange ring around it. Anyone seen this before or know what it means? It's so random, I didn't even know a white maxidot could do colour Cheers all, ps, I didn't get chance to take a pic.
  12. Mk2 golf Gti? Old jetta? How about a land rover series 3
  13. Hi all, something a bit odd has happened with my Mk2 VRS CR TDI. My girlfriend was driving it on the motorway (I wasn't in the car) at around 60 just slowing down as traffic built up, when the clutch seems to have overheated and started slipping. Apparently there was the usual clutch burning smell and loss of drive. The AA man confirmed it was probably this. This was yesterday and it's ok now. It seems very strange that this happened while driving along the motorway. She's done it before riding the clutch up a massively steep hill in Sheffield in heavy traffic, but learnt her lesson! I also trust her account of what happened. Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this? Another point to add, maybe I imagined it, but I'm sure I've felt a bit of light juddering when pulling off in first lately. It's only done 60k gentle miles though. Thanks!
  14. Wow this thread is popular! My original point was that you should always challenge a PCN, because you might win, even if you think you won't!
  15. True, but I lost the discount by it taking more than 2 weeks to pursue. More like 6 months!!
  16. Just half a dozen first class stamps. Maybe I should bill them!
  17. Just thought I'd offer a quick update on this. I submitted an appeal to popla on the grounds that the excel parking pre estimate of loss was complete nonsense, so based on the car park been free for the first hour, I won!
  18. Wish I'd just kept it and put the 200tdi disco engine in it :(
  19. My old land rover series 3. It was brilliant, got rid in 2009 in favour of a disco, which was crap in comparison. The series 3 did only do 18mpg though! It would also have doubled in value now though. Boo! And yes I love landys.
