Dynamic indicators disappointment
I'm the original poster - I just flogged mine on eBay as didn't want the grief related to insurance plus wasn't happy with the bodged fitting.

Octavia Mk4.5 Tow hitch towbar cover
Looking at getting a towbar fitted to my SEL - the workshop I've had a quote from said that there is a cover they fit to cover up the hole in the bumper. Has anyone on here had a towbar fitted and do they have any pictures of what this holes looks like along with this so called cover that clips over it?

Audio volume at ignition ON
Yep checked mine tonight. It was set on quite low and when I did turn on the car the volume was OK. I clearly need to apply some more thought to my troubleshooting...

Audio volume at ignition ON
I did ask ChatGPT to provide a fix but I'm not convinced I've come across this option... I'm sure AI just makes stuff up to make a person feel better: Maximum Switch-on Volume: Go to Menu -> Sound -> Volume to set the maximum volume for when the car is turned on.

Audio volume at ignition ON
I’ve recently noticed that when I start the ignition on my Mk4.5 SEL Octavia, the audio volume comes on quite loud at first and then automatically drops to a lower (previously set) level. I’ve had a quick look through the settings but can’t find anything that seems to control this behaviour. It’s odd, because my previous car did the opposite — it would start quietly and gradually return to the last set volume. Has anyone else come across this?

Rubber mats for Mk4 (SEL 1.5 TSI e-TEC 150PS DSG ACT Estate)
Although the rear mats fit, the front ones are turned up at the edges in my car - the 2025 must have slightly different shaped footwells.

Rubber mats for Mk4 (SEL 1.5 TSI e-TEC 150PS DSG ACT Estate)
For anyone interested - I did try the rubber matts left over from my previous car (Superb Mk3) and the front ones actually fit. The rear ones are a bit larger but will do for now till I can find some proper ones.

Rubber mats for Mk4 (SEL 1.5 TSI e-TEC 150PS DSG ACT Estate)
Hi, I’m hoping someone can clarify whether car mats (preferably rubber, though that’s not essential for the question) are compatible across all Skoda Octavia variants. I’ve seen one site advertising them as “Skoda Octavia MHEV 2020 to Present Car Mats”, yet other sites—when I enter my registration—state they’re not compatible. If anyone has experience with this or knows the differences between models, any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Octavia 2025 SEL - Front heated Windscreen
sorry thought I did already post in the Mk4 section. I did actually just try turning it on and yes within a few mins you can feel the warmth on the screen. Seems different to previous heated windscreens where there is/are small metal filaments inside, i cannot see anything on this, but the outside does have some film.

Octavia 2025 SEL - Front heated Windscreen
Hello, I currently own a six‑month‑old Octavia 1.5 SEL and have been really enjoying the car so far. One thing I’ve noticed, though, is that the front windscreen is a different brand (picture attached) compared to the rest of the glass — usually I’d expect to see “Skoda” marked on each pane. I understand it’s a heated windscreen, so I’m wondering if that explains the difference, or whether it might have been replaced before I bought the car. There’s a function to activate the heated screen, but I haven’t had a reason to test it yet. Since I can’t confirm either way, I thought I’d raise the question here on the forum.

Vibrations at 85km/h
I'd start with the basics as suggested - do wheel balancing first. Swap your wheel wheels to the front and see if it makes any difference to the issue. Not all tyre fitters know how to balance wheels correctly. I learnt this once when had vibrations through the wheel with some wider 18" wheels following some new tyres being fitted. Despite revisiting various tyre fitters I was told my wheels were balanced perfectly but still the vibrations persisted. Turned out I needed dynamic wheel balancing to correctly apply weights to the wheels and also aligning so the type colours dots lined up with the valve. A place called 'Protyre' do have balancing machines that have dynamic tyre balancing facilities. On other cars, older tyres caused me a problem just as you described, presumably developed hard spots as the rubber changes over time.

2025 Octavia - High Beam Control (Light Assist)
yeah its very confusing to understand - I think its linked to the service subscription which I've got a few years left on. Side note - the brochures for these cars are misleading. It's under standard equipment that 'Blind spot detection' is available on the SEL but I definitely don't have that - however when you look at the PDF brochure it looks like it's not standard. Lots of inconsistencies as I even have a second umbrella which is classed as an option.

2025 Octavia - High Beam Control (Light Assist)
I’d normally agree, but it’s not something I’ve specifically enabled — it just shows as active. There are two other ‘functions on demand’ for ambient lighting that I can activate on a trial but haven't. I was just wondering (and hoping) that this feature is actually included with the car by default, which is why it appears as active

2025 Octavia - High Beam Control (Light Assist)
Hi all, As I continue to enjoy driving my 2025 Octavia SEL, I’ve been gradually getting to know the car and all its features. One feature I’ve found particularly useful is the high beam assist. While browsing the Škoda Connect app (I get three years free), I noticed a section under ‘Paid Services – Functions on Demand’ that lists high beam control active (which I never turned on). Does this mean that once my subscription ends, this feature will stop working unless I renew?

2025 Skoda Octavia: Can the Coasting/Neutral Roll Feature Be Disabled?
Interesting points but if you are given the option to turn off start/stop or using the dsg in sports to deactivate the engine turning off then i would question why its bad for the engine to do this at all since the manufacturer are giving the option to do so.

2025 Skoda Octavia: Can the Coasting/Neutral Roll Feature Be Disabled?
I don't quite follows - how would disabling start/stop or where the car turns the engine off put extra strain on the gearbox - surely the engine being on all the time has the opposite effect i.e that it reduces the forces that strain components turning on/off all the time.

Disabling coasting function in facelift DSG cars
Yes true. Mine appears to have SFD2 marked against all modules which I believe protect some settings. SFD2 is a stronger authentication method, requiring factory approvals.

Yeah man, cars are just turning into big iPhones now. Once they go full electric, its end of days.

2025 Skoda Octavia: Can the Coasting/Neutral Roll Feature Be Disabled?
There is a bit of engine braking - when i put it in sports mode it doesn't coast it feels better. I had a 2020 Transport T6.1 with the 2.0TDI with CXFA engine type - a problem with the toothed belt jumping position causing engine damage (only on higher mileage units). I have to admit I haven't seen/heard of anything related to such on the passenger cars.

2025 Skoda Octavia: Can the Coasting/Neutral Roll Feature Be Disabled?
PS. my generation of car does have "-R SFD+SFD2" plastered all over the controllers so with software like VCDS at this time I cannot make any changes to anything unless I purchase a token to permit my access. Nice one Skoda.

2025 Skoda Octavia: Can the Coasting/Neutral Roll Feature Be Disabled?
Yes mine has the adaptive cruise with speed limiter, whilst its in it automation mode it does allow the engine to switch off when no throttle input is required (i.e. driving downhill). The car is still quite new to me so will try the differences in lifting foot off the accelerator with different urgency to see how it reacts.

2025 Skoda Octavia: Can the Coasting/Neutral Roll Feature Be Disabled?
I hope so dude. I'm a bit old school I'm afraid but i get they are many years on from the earlier cars when these features may have contributed to other engine issues (used to have a Transporter van and the engine was renowned for failure due to the start/stop function). I guess its something i'll just have to accept.

Disabling coasting function in facelift DSG cars
Yep you're bang on there - all of the modules in my car are protected by SFD of sorts with diagnostic filters. I'm seeing the abbreviations "-R SFD+SFD2" all over the place. Gone were the days of tinkering for the home mechanic!
