  1. Yes thanks, i've used that stuff before but only some localised repairs. I was thinking of something i could coat the entire inner wheel arch with, like an underbody sealant.
  2. Hi all, I'm having some problems with my other half's Mk7 Golf, water is getting through the inner wheel arch weld and into the inside of the footwell. Can anyone recommend a product I can use to help provide a waterproofing seal on the inner wheel arch that will hopefully resolve this please?
  3. Hi, don't follow what you mean by 'train'. I updated the SATNAV when i bought the car a few months back. I noticed the extra facility that comes with subscribed users has expired so not sure all possible components have been updated.
  4. I've come to the conclusion this must be some issue (software?) with the digital audio decoder in these head units. It's not intermittent and I can make it do it at the same points with certain tracks. Converting a FLAC to an MP3 sorts it but then other MP3's have the issue - totally random and no trend to this behaviour. Would be interested to know if anyone also experiences this when playing media from their smartphone through the head unit. Only thing is.. to get this looked at by Skoda would probably be a painful experience and i don't know if i have the energy to go through that. Being as my car is 4+years old even with extended warranty is this really something Skoda will want to invest time in.
  5. Reassuring to know its not just me. Maybe the quality of the DAC ainโ€™t up to scratch in these. Very odd though as never had the issue in other VAG vehicles.
  6. Hi All, I have the Columbus unit in my Suberb. Brilliant piece of kit. Since realising is was able to playback lossless FLAC files Iโ€™ve loaded up a Sandisk Extreme 64GB card full of them. Most work fine but have noticed a handful experience momentary stutter on playback something I would normally attribute to a poor encode. However when I playback on my PC itโ€™s faultless. Iโ€™ve started porting some to MP3 320kbps as this seems to works without issue. Anyone else experience similiar?
  7. Seeing as it showed on the extract it suggests so. Whether it lets you adjust the range is another matter (I canโ€™t see what values are configurable).
  8. I came across this thread today after trying the heated seats in my 2018 Mk3 Executive for the first time. Remembering in comparison to previous vehicles I have owned from VW with heated seats (leather and non-leather variants) there was a definite difference in how warm they got compared to the Skoda i.e. the VW's become unbearable when on setting 3 within 5-10mins no matter what seat material. The seats in my Superb get warm, slower, but never too hot. After reading what someone commented on about settings in VCDS I decided to investigate and was able to compare the Superb to an adaption scan of respective setting from a VW I had, here's the results: Skoda Superb's 2018 SE L Executive heated seat settings: VW Transporter 2020 T6.1: As you can see, the highest heat setting on the VW can reach 53 degrees C in comparison to the Skoda which is 41. That's a significant difference and to me explains what's going on. Whilst 53 was always too hot in the VW it was useful to get the initial heat going, whereas 36 on middle setting felt too low. I actually think the ideal upper settings should be something like this : 23, 41, 52. Quite odd the way the heat settings aren't standard across all VAG... but possibly having the lower setting helps conserve energy or extend component life. I might make some adjustments when I get round to it and see what it does.
  9. lol, true, but these days I ride Unicycles more so they fit in the boot quite easy ๐Ÿ™‚
  10. Believe me, I've had loads of trouble with one of my bikes, water ingress then leading to corroded bearings. Even having it on the back of the car where its still blown dry on the way home just seems to be a catalyst for things rusting. Maybe I just need to buy a better bike :-)
  11. Not a big fan of having my bikes on the roof. It dries the bearings out on my Mtb which arenโ€™t cheap for my bike ๐Ÿซฃ
  12. Second thoughts I donโ€™t think these are any good for modern full suspension bikes. I tried my mtb in the back and with the seat fully down on the dropper post I canโ€™t stand my cycle up at all.
  13. Hi all, Iโ€™ve come across (didnโ€™t know they existed) an interior cycle carrier for Skodaโ€™s. Looks quite good. does anyone have any practical experience of using one; are they any good and do they work With thru-axleโ€™s as all our cycles have these types now?
  14. Sorry meat that response against the original responder.
  15. @KenONeill - I'll quote what I pulled from another website as they can articulate better than me 'dynamic balancing is a technique using spinning computer balancers to measure the tire on all three axes'
  16. OK so by that do you think all the regular tyre fitters now use dynamic balancers? I took my previous car to one of these back street garage's who use static balancers hence the concern.
  17. Hi all, Loving the Superb but noticed at certain motorway speeds Iโ€™m getting slight trembles through the wheel which I know is down to poor wheel balancing. I had this issue in the past with wheels on my Scirocco, brand new Pirelli Pzeroโ€™s which after speaking to Pirelli they sent out their rep who kindly got them โ€˜dynamically balancedโ€™ free of charge by a tyre specialist (think they were called Protyre). The car drove so smooth afterwards. It was after that he told me some wider wheels need dynamic balancing as static balancing isnโ€™t enough. The garage I used in the past are now too far away so Iโ€™m trying to find one local in Manchester that can dynamically balance my wheels. Whenever I ask the run of the mill tyre fitters (e.g. ATS, KwikFit etc) if their machines can dynamically balance I get blank looks or the comment โ€œdunno mate the machine just tells us where to put the weightsโ€ lol. If anyone is still awake reading by this point and understands what Iโ€™m on about, do you know any good tyre fitters that can help me?
  18. Is reboot just a case of turning it off then back on?
  19. Pretty sure Iโ€™ve lit all these options before to no avail. Does it show immediately on the display to enable or do I need to recycle the ignition a few times?
  20. Can anyone tell me how I get the alarm chirp working on my Mk3. Despite enabling all the right options I canโ€™t see anything in the menu and no noise when I lock/unlock the car.
  21. I have this gearbox in mine, now at 42k. Would be interested to learn if anyone has left theirs till 80k and what was the condition of the oil. Iโ€™m still debating about getting it done now as lots are very speculative about leaving it till 80k.
  22. Ok thanks for the re-assurance. Always best to check on these things ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  23. Hi All, I was convinced I had the right part number to change the fuel filter in my 2018 Superb (engine code DFGA) until I queried it with a dealer.... 5q0127177 (blue filter) was were my money was but apparently it's actually the 5Q0127177D. Has anyone changed one who can validate this information is correct or not?
  24. Hi everyone, I have a 2018 SE L Executive, great car. I don't like the mirrors auto-folding upon unlocking, especially when I'm opening it up for the sake of fetching something and not driving it. My previous VAG car folded them out when turning the ignition on which I prefer. I have VCDS. Is it possible to stop this happening, if so please let me know?
