  1. Well time to say goodbye. The car was collected this week and I won't be replacing it with another VRS. Will be selling the small mod parts if anyones interested. ( ally heater dial rings, chrome gear knob insert, ) Bye to all, and happy motoring

  5. I've always been into cars a teenager and joined a few clubs racing electric 2wd and 4wd. Used to drive tamiya for bashing and a mixture of schumacher, traxxax and yokomo for racing. Got back into it a few years ago and took the tamiya trip down memory lane. I bought this basic TT01 for my garage shelf: I then bought another TT01 to upgrade for carpark bashing with a few mates: But this ended up being too nice to bash, so that sat on the shelf and I bought another to bash I then bought a few older models for the shelf also I got my lad a car that I first learnt to drive with many years ago: And finally I decided to try my hand at indoor carpet racing so I got myself a TA05-ms to play with: Sadly not used them for a few years now, but hopefully I'll find some time to play again.
  6. Well earlier in the week after no further help from the dealership service dept I decided to ignore their advice on a new throttle body and try a new PCV valve ( rev N ). I didn't hold out too much hope as I had tried the PCV valve test detailed on various sites, suggesting by removing the oil cap quickly and seeing if the engine struggles to run. This test suggested the valve was working, but as I had already ordered the part it was still worth fitting it. The part arrived yesterday and I installed it today. Was a very quick job and yes the cover is a pig to remove as no one likes to force anything for fear of snapping something. I replaced the PCV valve and a new gasket and refitted the cover. Upon starting the car the engine sounded much quieter and smoother than its ever been since owning the car ( 5 months ). Revs now sit comfortably below 1K and at junctions the engine fan is noiser than the tick over so really pleased. No more stuttering and random revving. Yet again it shows how helpful these sort of forums, highlighting how if left to the dealers I could be left chasing the fault with a diminishing wallet. So I would reiterate all before me, given a lumpy tickover and random revving, for the sake of £30-40 replace the PCV first before looking at the more expensive options.

I'm having similar issues at the moment, stuttering tickover, random rev increases at tickover and hesitant throttle while driving at low revs. Been to the dealership and they had the car all day. The car had its fault list cleared last week and by this morning had a nice long list for the mechanic to resolve. The car had recorded that it had misfired on 3 or the 4 cylinders, they tried replacing coil / leads and no change. They also checked for air leaks but nothing obvious. The mechanic is suggesting its all pointing towards a faulty throttle body but can't guarentee it. They are trying to source one to try, but skoda want £400 so I'm not going to pay that on a 'maybe'. I've got the car back while they look into the symptons with Skoda, but unfortunately its not an obvious quick fix.
  8. I've had a few problems occur on my 2006 VRS 2.0TFSI over the past few days. First off was the engine managment light came on and upon popping into the skoda dealership was told that a component associated with air regulation was not configured. The operator configured it with the car and the light was reset. Since then I've had no more lights on the dash but the car stutters, only slightly but noticable at all speeds. If I try and coast in gear you can feel the car pulling back slightly giving a juddery ride. When sat at junctions the car searches slightly and the car judders randomly rising the revs to 1500 then dropping back ( a boy racer today thought I was tempting a traffic light sprint ) Now I've read quite a bit about the PCV problems, so is this likely to be the symptoms relating to this ? Keen to get this resolved as its like driving with my grandad and his kangaroo throttle control

  10. I got mine last week and ended up with the drivers side rear quarter window. Looks good there and other drivers can see it when passing.
  11. I use the Valet Pro Citus Pre Wash from Cleanyourcar.co.uk. Its a traffic film removal product, so you follow the directions on dilution and then apply to the car using a hand spray bottle. I usually just do below the door rubbing strips, rinsing off each side of the car as I do it, so max contact time 2-3mins. If your really worried then apply and wash off sooner to try it out, you'll see it work almost immediately so it won't be wasted. Good value product and comes in large 5 ltr bottles which given normal use dilution will last you ages.
  12. I wash my car regularly and have a similar routine as detailed above. I work on construction sites so my car is covered in mud within a few days so the first stage of pressure washing is to remove the worst. This is ideal for cleaning the larger stuff of the bumpers, wheels and particularly the wheel arches. As for the pressure washer actually cleaning the car, it clearly takes a layer of dirt off, but nothing close to being clean. I then cover the car in a citrus pre wash which can be seen within a few seconds to start lifting more dirt. I apply this with a bottled hand spray. After a few minutes this is then jet washed off and the car is visibly better at this stage. The next stage is the snow foam, which I use to apply with a cheap non adjustable nozzle, but that was ineffective at creating a good foam. I recently bought a larger capacity adjustable nozzle / bottle and the foam layer is now a perfect thick mat that doesn't slip off the car within a few seconds. This is also the stage where the neighbours wonder what the hell I'm doing to the car, and usually start the typical comments about doing theirs next and 'you do know its going to rain later' !! One thing I do find, which may be unique to be but I find pressure washing and foaming highly satisfying. I guess its a man thing but once holding the lance the appeal to jet anything and everything is hard to resist. I usually find myself pressure washing the footpath or house facia boards while waiting for the snow foam to work Resisting temptation to snow foam the local cats that keep sh*tting in my garden is even harder Its now the time to do the traditional 2 bucket method clean with a lambs wool mit, which seems mad after all the previous stages but the level of dirt is vastly reduced by now and the risk of swirls and scratching is minimised. Its also nice that at the stage of actually making physical contact with the paint that the level of dirt is minimal. Once rinsed and dryed the car now looks great for a weekly clean. The car is detailed every 6 months by myself, so the wax does its job and the finish with just drying is fine considering it'll be filthy by midweek. The wife has no understanding of the different processes and just thinks I've washed my car 6 times over and then moans about the water use ( we have water meters in this area ). Overall I wouldn't say snow foam is the all in one solution that people make out it to be, but used as part of a washing routine I find its a benificial stage for removing the dirt and the most satisfying in 'pretending to spray your car white'
  13. A couple more from the same shoot. Roll on the summer when the mods can continue. I really like the zeniths and normally I'm the first to swap out a set of alloys. So a refurb will keep me content for a while. Thanks for the info regarding the oil cap, I'll have to add that to the classifieds if its for the diesel.

  15. Looks like a great shine, but how much better is the Zymol waxes. I know they are good but do they justify the cost ? oh and how come you have some, thats stuffs the price of second hand car
