  1. Just letting everyone know of fantastic service I've had from Autohaus Dolby in Sheffield following a diesel leak, fanbelt failure and cambelt jumping. Matt at Autohaus accepted responsibility and covered costs of repair work with minimum fuss when they could have tried to argue it was my responsibility and left me with a huge bill (and a very very tight Christmas!) see thread here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/334129-fan-belt-cambelt-failure-20cr-possible-garage-at-fault-advice-please/
  2. Got the car back yesterday. All fixed. Props to Autohaus Dolby in Sheffield who have (together with fuel filter manufacturer) covered the cost of the engine work. Turns out the cambelt had slipped 5 teeth causing valve and rocker damage, needing full engine stripdown and 12 valves and all rockers replacing. Car now running fine though engine a bit noisy: hopefully this will settle down soon. Matt and the team at Autohaus have been great with me, showing customer service to be very proud of: many thanks.
  3. Thanks all. Have spoken to the garage who've said that they are aware of an issue with Mann fuel filters that they have used in past and have therefore stopped using them. Reporting manufacturer not admitting a problem. They seem willing to help out in some way, but are stating my fault for not going back to them with the leak. Having to get car recovered to them for it to get looked at...
  4. Car cuts out tonight, there's me thinking something minor. Recovery guy tells me Cambelt failure he can see fan belt has shredded which has likely contacted cambelt causing the failure. He also smells a small diesel leak in engine bay and suggests this will have contaminated fan belt causing the failure. I have been aware of a small fluid leak (small wet patch under car when left- directly under cambelt area) since immediately after last service (at least 6 months ago). Stupidly I didn't get this checked out. I've looked around internet and seen a few others have had similar failures attributable to the fuel filter seal not being replaced properly at service causing diesel to escape. Do you think I have any rights of comeback to the servicing garage (VW specialist). Car is currently left outside another garage and problem not been fully diagnosed. What would you do?
  5. Are the heads on the lockers and the locker socket in good condition: looks from your pics that the socket is a bit rounded off.
  6. I fitted a charger for my phone by using a piggyback fuse in the main fusebox, then a spare cigarette lighter socket which I mounted by the fuse box. Then ran a micro USB charger lead from there behind the dash to exit at the mini flip up box above the stereo: Means I can charge my phone while mounted in a Brodit clip and works an absolute treat.
  7. Sorry I'm not going to reduce it at the moment if I'm not selling the panel as well: might be harder to sell the panel on it's own. Did cost me £60 from Kufatec. Dave
  8. Exactly: as far as I know you could. You would need my loom and the FL climatronic panel. I believe there is a little mod with swapping pins to get the FL climatronic to work in pre-FL cars: threads on here about it. Not sure if my loom would work with a pre-FL climatronic with heated seats buttons though.
  9. Sorry Tim: I did reply yesterday though my reply seems to have disappeared .. I still have the Kufatec loom and 1 FL climatronic panel for heated seats. Tim: you will need a climatronic panel, then the Kufatec loom which connects the panel to the seats (it terminates in a large black connector that exits the floor underneath the seats), then either heated seats from a donor car, or (if you are adding heated elements to your existing seats) heating elements and a bit of wiring underneath the seats and a 'heated seats control unit' that fixes to the underside of one seat. My Kufatec loom is for later seats (I think 2006 or 2007 onwards) with the heated seats control unit under just one seat. Dave
  10. Bit envious of the apparent ease of these as I've got so far down retrofitting 'oem' heated seats climatronic panel and wiring loom to connect to my Audi seats but finding its far more complicated than I first thought. I've got the climatronic panel and main chassis wiring loom but missing the underseat wiring looms / control unit. So if anyone has these off a 2007+ car I'd really appreciate a message.
  11. Would you consider posting. Reasonably priced through senditnow
  12. Phil, Sorry for late reply. I can do the panel for £70 posted if you can pay by paypal gift or bank transfer. Paypal gift to: davewoods3(AT)hotmail(DOT)com and BTW tried sending you a personal message but you can't receive messages apparently.
  13. Had a Shark stage 1 on mine a couple of weeks now but cant seem to lay off the faster pedal long enough to test the mpg. Before the remap I could get 60mpg on a 30 mile a-road commute at 50mph almost all the way. Definitely would not get 60mpg at 80 though. Ali's car with the power its got and the economy is incredible - or he may just be lying ;-)
  14. So what year is the one that you are selling? To fit what engine?
  15. Grizzle I will take your rubber ones if Dab does not want them, and of course happy to pay postage. BTW Grizzle I think your inbox is full Dave
